  1. Review titled Let down.

Rated 1 star out of 5

My mother is 82 and has had a real tough time with the practice. They don’t listen or don’t follow through with their promises. For example: after a recent operation my mother has been to see her physiotherapist and complained about the pain. The Physio listened and sent a letter to the doctor requesting a change in medication. My mother followed up and having received the request they stated the new medication would be available the next day. Mum made a request to collect (on public transport) from the surgery. When she got there the meds weren’t in. And they had been sent to another location. A family member arranged to collect the medication from the other chemist. Upon arrival- it was not a new medication it was the same medication and it was now the weekend. On the Monday morning my mother sat waiting my the phone for two hours for the doctor to call. They didn’t call within the scheduled time and when mum called the surgery to ask, the receptionist was short with her telling her to get off the phone in case she missed the call. When the call came it wasn’t the doctor as promised it was the pharmacist. At this point she felt belittled by the process and not heard. She was upset and couldn’t reach an agreement with the pharmacist as she felt they did not believe she was in pain despite having a letter from a medical professional to say she needed help with her pain. I am now looking at my mums phone to see 11 sms messages from the surgery with different dates times and postponed appointments all within the last month, all while she is still in pain. Remember mum is 82. She feels not listened to and let down by the surgery she has been a patient of for 50 years.

Dear Robert, Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. My name is Heather and I am the practice manager here at Highfield Surgery. I am sorry that you feel your mother has had such a poor experience with the surgery, it is not what we want to hear and we do value all feedback. I am unable to ascertain who your mother is from this feedback, however if your mother would like to address this any further she can do so in writing to our postal address here: Practice Manager, Highfield Surgery, SSPCC, Lytham Road, Blackpool, FY4 1TJ. Once I have further details from your mother I will be able to investigate this thoroughly and provide a response. Kind regards, Heather Practice Manager

  2. Review titled Sign of the times

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I have been a patient since N F and P ( not allowed to use names apparently) , so have experienced many receptionists over the years. Over 60 years, yesterday was the height of ignorance, the pharmacy rang me saying I had to get an emergency script immediately. I relayed the message politely to be told there’s no chance of that. Then I got the ins and outs of the politics of surgery. Seriously!!! then she said the line was bad and the phone went dead. The pharmacist rang again so I repeated the conversation her response was you can’t go without this medication for that length of time. Did you get her name, she didn’t give it , no surprise there with that attitude. As a care provider we get scrutinised on everything we do and reported. I have never felt the need to review my surgery before but the level of professionalism has dropped dramatically in my experience. The only statement I wanted to hear was we will try our best to sort this for you, not war and peace. I felt drained after that onslaught, not a good experience at all.

Dear Catherine, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are truly sorry that your call to the surgery did not meet your expectations and you went away feeling drained. That is certainly not what we want our patients to go away feeling and i will pass this on to the whole pharmacy team as constructive feedback. Feedback is invaluable to us and we take it seriously. If you do wish to discuss further please feel free to contact us via highfield.enquiries@nhs.net. Kind regards, Heather Practice Manager

Disappointed that the surgery couldn't help me with a simple request. Not a place that I can trust going forward. Everything seems to be a struggle for the practice.
