  2. Review titled Excellent prompt service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Zowie Moore - Posted on 06 September 2023

I had a very good experience when my son became suddenly poorly. Went in to ask for an emergency appointment and my son was seen and prescribed the appropriate antibiotics within the hour. The doctor was very helpful and kind towards my son who does get anxious around Medical professionals due to a hospital stay. Overall an excellent and efficient service thank you

  3. Review titled My experience

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Ellen penn - Posted on 11 September 2023

I have found it very hard trying to get an appointment to see a doctor. It can be really upsetting when you are on hold for so long only to be told time after time there's no appointments "if it's that bad go to a walk in" how ever they couldn't help me either as they told me I needed a referral from my doctor for them to investigate my pane. Today I did get an appointment it was a call back I did feel that the doctor is going to do all he can to get to the bottom of my pane and for once I didn't feel fobbed off with pane killers hopefully I will have a better experience with my GP from now on.

Dear Ms Penn, Thank you for taking the time to send us feedback. Feedback is really important to help us to improve our service. I am very sorry that you have struggled trying to make an appointment at our surgery. Following feedback from patients we are aware that our current telephone system is not meeting the needs of our patients and making contacting the surgery very difficult. We have therefore acquired a new telephone system with a virtual queue function which will call patients back when it is their turn in the queue. This means you will not have to call dozens of times to get through, or be stuck on the phone waiting for an answer. I am so glad that you managed to get an appointment and that you felt happy with your consultation and more positive about your experience at our surgery. As per our protocol, I will discuss your comments at our next practice meeting. Thank you once more for your feedback Kindest regards Linda Jones Practice Manager

  5. Review titled Doctor

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Emma Hughes - Posted on 05 September 2023

The doctor my son saw gave a good examination and was very personable. Every time my son has needed an appointment he has been seen. The system of phoning at 8 am is flawed for working people as it usually takes hours to get through.

Dear Ms Hughes, Thank you for your feedback regarding your sons recent appointment. I am glad to hear that your son has been seen every time he has needed an appointment and that you were happy with his consultation. Through patient feedback, we have recognised that the current phone system is making contact with the surgery very difficult for patients. we have therefore sourced a new telephone provider which should make contacting the surgery much easier. Regarding calling at 8am - if you work, have you downloaded our NHS app? On here you can book appointments, order medication etc. I do hope you will find this useful. Thank you again for your feedback. I will discuss this at our next practice meeting. Kindest regards Linda Jones Practice Manager

  7. Review titled Awful just no help at all

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Megan Sheppard - Posted on 05 September 2023

I went to this practice as my closest and usual practice but since moving to uni couldn’t get in. They never made me aware I could be a temporary patient of theirs it was my uni doctor who had told me and then when I asked them they just made excuses and told me to go to a walk in center. My uni doctors wanted me seen as they were worried and this practice couldn’t have cared any less about my well being and to the receptionist I spoke to today she was beyond disrespectful to me to the point mid conversation she walked off to go and talk to a member of staff I’m beyond disappointment as I just want to feel better I would never go there again as you have to book an appointment for an illness before even getting I’ll

Dear Ms Sheppard, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I am so very sorry that you felt disrespected, disappointed and that our receptionists did not care. I can imagine how upsetting this would have been for you. I believe from your feedback that you were no longer registered at the practice because you had moved away to university. With this in mind you were certainly most welcome to have registered as a temporary resident at times you were back home. This would enable you to book appointments. I am unsure what medical problem you were suffering with at the time, however if it was an emergency and we were full to capacity then our reception team would signpost you to either a walk in centre, urgent care or even A&E if necessary, so that you were able to be seen urgently. If the problem was non urgent then registering as a temporary patient would have been the correct course of action whereby you could book appointments in advance or call on the day. With regards to the receptionist who you spoke to, I am extremely disappointed that you felt that they did not care, and even more so that they walked off as you were speaking to them. Because we do have situations where patients shout / swear / are rude or insulting to our reception team, or the receptionist deals with an upsetting situation - we encourage a time out so that the receptionist is able to re-compose and talk through the situation if needed. We also encourage a receptionist to swap with another receptionist in order to try and calm an escalating situation, or if they were finding it difficult to explain things to a patient, however the receptionist should explain that a colleague will deal with this for them and why, not just walk away. We do not allow a receptionist to simply walk off from a patient who is speaking to them. Please rest assured that I will be discussing this with our reception manager and team to make sure that does not happen again. I do hope that this has dealt with your feedback to your satisfaction. Kindest regards Linda Jones Practice Manager

  8. Review titled Great GP Surgery

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kate Corbett - Posted on 18 September 2023

Went to the doctors this afternoon and booked myself in at reception at the screens weren’t working. The receptionist was helpful and friendly. During my actual appointment with the doctor I felt that he listened to my concerns and asked questions and examined me when necessary. He was polite and knowledgeable and professional at all times.

  10. Review titled failure of service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Richard Dodds - Posted on 15 May 2023

i received a call from the surgery wanting me to have a telephone call, with the doctor on the 19th may to discuss my health issues, i explained i would be in gibraltar then, they agreed to change it to today the 15th of may,no call received and when my wife enquired on the phone, they said they had no record of it and no appointments were available, phone in the morning. we have two children with very varied special needs, and my job takes me all over the uk and abroad. so we just can't make at least 500 calls on a morning, to be told, there are no appointments available, try again tomorrow. they called me to make the appointment, not the other way around.

Dear Mr Dodds, Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment about our surgery. This feedback helps us to improve our service in the future. I am very sorry for the mistakes made with your appointment. I can see that there was no appointment booked for the 15th May, however, because of this I cannot trace who you spoke with. I am sorry that I cannot investigate this further. I genuinely believe this was an honest mistake, and I am very sorry that this happened and the upset and frustration this must have caused you. I agree that an appointment requested by us should not necessitate you to call back to rebook, particularly that it was a mistake on our part. We recognised that our phone system was no longer meeting the needs of our patients through listening to the feedback of our patients. We therefore arranged to change this to a system which calls patients back when it is their turn in the queue. I do hope this will alleviate the necessity to call multiple times to speak with our reception team. We also have pre-bookable appointments you can self book using our online app. Please contact the surgery for further details if you feel this would be of benefit for you. Once again, thank you for your feedback. I will ensure that your comments are discussed in our next practice meeting so that we can reflect on what we could have done better to improve our patient experience. Kindest regards Linda Jones Practice manager
