Can never get an appointment here, unless you are pals with the receptionist. Pick and chose who they call back. Phone on a Monday at 8.30 (31 times) to finally be told no appointments. Did an e-consult online immediately. Thursday morning (3 days later) still no callback. I rang the surgery to be told ‘yeah we have a cancellation for this afternoon doctor wants to see you’ no apology or explanation for not calling me. Doctor booked me for a blood test for the following week. Turn up for blood test to be told at the door ‘nurse not in due to illness’. Aware you can’t know if people are going to be sick in advance but a phone call out of decency to let people know would have been appreciated. This surgery is very unprofessional and not being managed or accountable for their actions. It appears the issue is with the receptionist who has been there a long time and got too complacent and big for her boots.

Our appointment system is specifically designed to meet the needs of our patient population. While we appreciate that call volumes are high at 8:30am when lines open, we offer on-the-day appointments daily. In the vast majority of cases, patients who are unable to secure an appointment on the first attempt are able to do so within three days. This system is preferred by our patients and has contributed to our positive performance in patient feedback surveys. With regard to your e-consult submission, it was processed and actioned within 48 hours, which is in line with our protocol. We do not prioritise patients based on personal relationships; all appointment allocations and callbacks are handled according to clinical urgency and appointment availability. The receptionist referenced in your review is our most experienced and highly trained team member. All reception staff follow practice protocols designed to ensure fairness and professionalism at all times. While we understand that interactions can sometimes be perceived differently depending on circumstances, we do not tolerate unprofessional behaviour from any member of staff. In relation to the blood test appointment, your husband was the individual booked for that day. Regrettably, the healthcare assistant due to carry out the clinic tested positive for COVID-19 on 12th March and was required to isolate in accordance with NHS guidance. All affected patients were contacted and offered alternative appointments. We are sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations. We are continually reviewing our systems and processes to ensure the best possible service and take all feedback into account as part of this process. Recently, I visited the practice, as a toenail needed to be removed. Treatment was carried out in a short time in a caring, friendly and professional manner at the surgery. I had expected to be referred to a podiatrist, where I would then join a lengthy waiting list. Afterwards, care was to the same high standard, with the wound being re-dressed twice in three days by the nurses. Having previously undergone such a procedure with a private podiatrist, where I waited far longer and received a poorer overall service, I consider myself fortunate to be registered with such an outstanding practice.

Whenever I need an appointment I can get a phone call on the day and if I need to be seen, this is also offered. Very helpful, kind and professional. All staff are friendly. Cannot fault this practice.
