  1. Review titled Really gone downhill

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 November 2023

I have previously always had a good experience with the surgery but in the last few months it has really gone down hill. I attended for an appointment, checked in and was sitting there for an hour. I know they run late so just assumed they were, I went up to reception and it turns out the doctor I was meant to see wasn't even in today! Surely they would have known that when I checked in! I've been waiting 2 months now for a letter to have a scan. I also put in a request online 2 weeks ago for my son, they asked for a photo of the issue which I sent as soon as I got the text, yet I am still awaiting a response for the doctor! I've been in twice to have my address updated both myself and my husband and it's still set as my old address

  2. Review titled Phone wait times

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by bill rice - Posted on 25 August 2023

To add to the comments about the phone waiting times there is also an annoying error with the phone message. It states '..or use the call-back service..' However it doesn't explain how this is invoked and there appears to be no info that I could find on the website. A call back would be much less frustrating than being brain-washed with the hold tones for an hour.

We are sorry for your wait, as per phone message, web message etc we have explained that we have moved to a new clinical system which has resulted in a slower response time as staff get used to the new system.

  4. Review titled Great Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 07 June 2023

Dr responded within five minutes of the receptionist telling me I was on his list to call after I had requested an urgent appointment. He actually saw me at the surgery within an hour of my original call. He was courteous and explained what was likely to be the problem and what could be done. He did a physical examination in the presence of a chaperone. Medication and a follow up appointment were arranged . I felt the matter was dealt with efficiently and to my satisfaction. I forgot to ask if my message sent through the app two days earlier had been received as I had not had a response . HG

  6. Review titled Proactive and outstanding patient care.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Keith Durrant - Posted on 28 April 2023

Once again, I had to visit my GP Surgery yesterday, and once again, and although late in the day, the two members of the practice team that I engaged with provided me with outstanding service, answered all my questions, and met all my requirements, ranging from a COVID booster appointment, to dispensing my regular prescription medications. It is such a pleasant experience, and so reassuring, when the team within your local GP Practice listen to your needs, act proactively, and deliver the promise on which our great NHS was founded. Well done to everyone at JTH Surgery.

  7. Review titled excessive phone delays

Rated 4 stars out of 5

    by R Evans - Posted on 09 January 2023

I requested a call back. Phone rang for 2 rings and then ended. I therefore call reception (again). I have now been caller no 1 for 1 hour. I can not believe that the previous person has been on the phone for that amount of time. I can only summise that no one in answering the phone. If that's the case stop wasting my time and my phone bill.

We are sorry for your long hold on the phone, there is an option to request a call back, which most patients find useful, and saves them having to hang on to the phone at busy times. Alternatively you can go to the website and hit the 'contact us' button and your request will be triaged by a GP.

  8. Review titled Clearer instructions for patients

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 October 2022

The reception area has a system where only one person can enter at a time and register for their appointment. I was not aware of this and would suggest that this needs to be made clearer to patients. On arrival I was told there is a queue, to leave and wait outside. The way I was told, made me feel stupid and like in some way I was trying to push in, all before an appointment I was already feeling worried about. I feel there are better ways to communicate with patients who most of the time are only trying to do the right thing. It was also something I didn’t expect as covid restrictions have been lifted for some time.

Dear patient, we are sorry that this has been your experience, and we will make sure that the existing posters are refreshed to be more obvious. Whilst COVID restrictions have been lifted for most public areas, we are still working to Infection Control Guidelines in Primary care, hence the need to wear face coverings and maintain 1m distance in confined spaces, which the reception lobby is. 9. Review titled Excellent Organisation of Covid and Flu Vaccine

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 October 2022

After a complete disaster last year accessing the flu vaccine with patients waiting over three quarters of an hour in the rain, lessons have clearly been learnt. This year there was no queue. My husband and I went straight in and saw a young lady doctor who was engaging and exceptionally helpful. We had our vaccines and I asked her about access to a GP face to face. She told me about writing in on the NHS website which I did and has organised for me to see a doctor face to face tomorrow. I have written a poor review on this site before having had some negative experiences, but I cannot speak highly enough about this GP. You really felt that she cared, was interested and in a busy vaccine clinic went the extra mile to listen and facilitate my face to face appointment. She exceeded my expectations as did the whole experience. Well done and thank you to all the staff involved in this years vaccination programme.

  10. Review titled They work hard for their patients

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by JudithAnne - Posted on 29 September 2022

I have been using the practice for 7 years. Huge changes since 2020.But if you phone reception or go in, the staff are proactive and pleasant. After some time recently, I was contacted by a doctor who promptly gave an appointment for the physical examination needed. This doctor was excellent in her thoroughness, promptly arranged tests and scan. She explained her rationale clearly and I feel in safe hands as treatment continues. There is absolutely no doubt that the service we once had to see a doctor when needed is under great strain. But I am in no doubt at all that doctors and staff at John Tasker House strive to serve patients well. If the Government means what they say about their commitment to the NHS, they must give greater support to GP surgeries. And needed to address the shortage of gps long before the pandemic.
