  1. Review titled Outstanding care for my elderly mother

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Jubilee health centre, coventry. (I am unable to state personal information but I hope you can recognise yourselves and know that we are grateful to you). Thank you to the teams at Westminster Road and Station Avenue for the excellent care you have been providing for my 89 year old mother. Mum has been with your practice for 20 years and care has always been of a very high standard. Recently (since March 2022) Mum has needed to use your services more frequently (3 times per week) – we have met with both nurses and most frequently (Health care assistant). Appointments at the surgery could have been a challenge to arrange, especially due to Mum’s adult children transporting her; sometimes we muddled up the location or time of the appointment – all staff were always kind and patient with us all, seeing Mum even if we were late due to our confusion. Mum does not suffer because of her childrens’ failings! Mum’s needs are diverse and complex as with many elderly people; mind and body are rapidly failing. Nevertheless Mum’s Gp. Dr., and the nursing team listen carefully to Mum: they have taken time to “know her” as an individual, they never dismiss a concern she expresses, they assess and treat her with enormous respect and compassion, her dignity is always respected and she is always taken seriously. She is given time to organise and express herself, as are we who accompany her; this is exceptional given the time and economic pressures we know you are under. The GP has driven forward onward referrals which nurses and administration staff have followed up if things have gone quiet. Mum is a “Coventry Kid” - she survived a bomb landing just outside her house in Earlsdon removing the house front (1941) and has continued to be a “survivor”, a “fighter”. She is an amazing woman and it is a joy and privilege to witness this NHS team enabling her to feel as comfortable as possible despite the crippling era of austerity and the toll of Covid 19. Thank you all – you are a credit to the NHS and Mum’s generation who helped build it. We are very, very grateful.
