  1. Review titled Great Team

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Stephen Wren - Posted on 07 June 2024

contacted the surgery having been poorly for about a week. Despite there being no appointments available one was found for me. A consultation took place and blood tests taken which, which later revealed that a had an infection. On receiving the blood test results I was contacted by a doctor who then referred to specialists at Colchester Hospital as my symptoms did not indicate where the source of the infection might be. The Doctor arranged for me to attend the Acute Medical Same Day Emergency Care Ward at Colchester Hospital whilst providing medication to treat the infection. After many tests at the hospital the cause of the infection was finally located and further medication issued. The service I have received from all the team at the Kelvedon and Feering Health Centre has been nothing other than first class and I thank all of those for their efforts in assisting me at my time of need.

Dear Mr Wren, Re: Great Team Thank you for taking the time to write a review about the Kelvedon & Feering Health Centre and you think we have a “Great Team “here with regards to your patient experience. We really appreciate your kind words and appreciation of this practice and what we do. We are glad to hear that you were able to receive, an appointment based on your presenting case scenario and feeling poorly, and our staff efforts in assisting you at your time of need. We will always try to help where we can even when fully booked and have no appointments left, we will try to advise and signpost to the appropriate services or departments where applicable. To hear you feel the service that you received from the Kelvedon & Feering Health Care team has been nothing but “first class” for you is a real boost to our staff morale when they hear of a patient’s service experience here at the Kelvedon & Feering Health Centre, it makes all the challenging work behind the scenes worthwhile. The staff do work under extreme pressure and in an ever-demanding environment which is not understood or considered. Everyone at the Kelvedon & Feering Health Centre are very passionate about what they do when it comes to the patient’s care and outcomes. All staff always try to help, guide, resolve patient queries and issues brought to their attention. It is good to hear about the positives as well as the negatives, through these comments we learn how to improve and collaborate with our patients to provide the ultimate patient care. This review about your recent visit to us will be shared at the next practice team meeting (this month). We also have the friends & family test cards in the reception area that you can fill in and put in the box of any service experience that you have here, please do fill one in. The NHS friends and family test was created to help service providers and commissioners understand whether patients are happy with the service provided, or where improvements are needed. It is a quick and anonymous way to give your views after receiving NHS care or treatment. Again, we really appreciate your time and effort to compliment our practice and all the staff. 2. Review titled Service that saved my kidneys!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Marie Thurlow - Posted on 14 July 2024

An e-appointment on 4th June followed by a blood test on 5th June, resulted in me being contacted by one of the practice partners multiple times on the evening of the 5th asking me to go to Broomfield Accident & Emergency as a matter of urgency. I was at work when the first call came through but had two voicemail messages, one text and, while I was picking up my voicemails, the doctor rang me again from the surgery at 7.45pm to ensure I had received his messages. He had discussed my case with the medical registrar on call at Broomfield and they were expecting me that same evening. Following admission at Broomfield, I was told I had 4% kidney function which I have no doubt would have resulted in kidney failure if my doctor at Kelvedon Feering Health Centre hadn't acted as quickly as he did when he did. I was transferred to Hammersmith hospital two days later where I spent the next two weeks undergoing treatment for my low functioning kidneys. Three weeks later I am now attending Hammersmith as an outpatient and am on a treatment plan. I am grateful to my doctor at Kelvedon Feering Health Centre, and his team, for going above and beyond to ensure they made contact with me as soon as possible to get me into critical care. Thank you again for such outstanding customer service.

  3. Review titled Amazing Staff, Amazing Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Laura MacNeil - Posted on 14 June 2024

I recently had to visit the GP and every single staff member I came into contact with were nothing short of amazing. The receptionist was so, so kind and helpful and got me an appointment straight away. The GP himself was extremely thorough, kind, compassionate and efficiently dealt with my problem. The pharmacy staff are also incredible. I'm on a weekly script and they are always so patient and accommodating when I need to change a weekly pick up date. Would highly recommend this surgery.

  5. Review titled Great Practice, Amazing Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I only moved to Kelvedon in February, but I have several complex medical conditions. My experience with the practice has been nothing short of amazing. I needed a face to face doctor's appointment and the GP receptionist that day fitted me in straight away. I also take various different medications and the prescription clerical team have been so patient and understanding; especially as I'm on a weekly prescription and work full time. If I need to pick up my prescription on a different day, they have always been incredibly patient and helpful. I'm very happy with the service that the Kelvedon and Feering Health Centre provides. From the nurse that takes my regular blood tests to my face to face appointment with the GP - my experience has always been positive and would definitely recommend this practice.

  6. Review titled Great Service

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Kathy Lees - Posted on 10 April 2024

I have been trying to get a GP appointment for 3 days but there has been none available when I have got through by phone. However, on each occasion I have received extremely courteous service along with helpful suggestions and signposting from the receptionists. This included an outreach service appointment being suggested and booked for me at the weekend. I have also had cause to ask for a referral appointment to be changed and, again, have received prompt, helpful and courteous service.

Dear Kathy, Re: Great Service Thank you for taking the time to write a review about the Kelvedon & Feering Health Centre and your recent “Great” service (patient) experience here. We really appreciate your kind words and appreciation of this practice and what we do. We are sorry to hear that it took x3 days for you to receive an appointment, we do have, an advanced nurse practitioner, extended access appointments provided at the weekends and in the evenings, though this maybe elsewhere. It is good to take the opportunity to use these other appointments and utilise them. Where possible we will always endeavour to signpost correctly to suit the patient needs- there is a lot of outside coverage for this if you cannot get a GP appointment at that moment in time, which we appreciate can be frustrating for our patients. It really does boost staff morale when they hear of a patient’s service experience here at the Kelvedon & Feering Health Centre, it makes all the challenging work behind the scenes worthwhile. 7. Review titled Very professional and thorough practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Deborah E. - Posted on 11 March 2024

I visited the GP with a concern around a mole. He reassured me it looked benign but immediately called his partner who has an interest in dermatology. Within five minutes I was reassured having been examined under a microscope that everything was ok so no worries. Having had a couple of scares and operations in the past I was relieved but also impressed with their thoroughness and speediness in addressing my concern. I find the staff so friendly and helpful on the phone and do their very best to help. Only once I haven't had an appointment on the same day. sometimes this can happen and is rare as long as you call 8am sharp. I know of many surgeries who do not accommodate patients so quickly and this surgery is one of the best. I would totally recommend this practice and as somebody who has dealt with many practices, this one is very impressive.

  8. Review titled Exemplary Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Barrowboy - Posted on 13 September 2023

I have always found the staff to be helpful and friendly and I do not recognise some of the negative feedback I have seen on other websites. I have always managed to get an appointment when I have wanted one but for me my recent consultation was exemplary. I have a neurological condition which is not serious but is life limiting. I was told by my consultant that it would have to live with it. However my GP took the time to really understand my symptoms and prescribed medication which has really improved my quality of life. I have nothing but praise for the doctors and staff who deliver a good service in difficult circumstances

  9. Review titled Really positive experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Heather Chapman - Posted on 27 February 2023

Over the past 4yrs I have unfortunately been a fairly regular visitor to Kelvedon and Feering Health Centre and therefore been in frequent communication because of a chronic autoimmune disease I was diagnosed with in 2019. At the beginning, some of these communications didn't always feel as helpful or reassuring as they might have done, but things sometimes can, and do go wrong and we were all living and working under extreme pressure at that time. However, my own personal experience over the past 12mths or so has left me with nothing but praise for the health centre team, who seem to genuinely try their best for their patients and work hard to put in place whatever is required. This particular visit was to resolve and clarify some worries and concerns I had and the lovely lady at reception went out of her way to help me..... offering an alternative strategy to resolve the problem when she couldn't do anything more for me from her desk (and it worked) I was greeted by a friendly smile, and that makes such a difference when as a patient you're feeling anxious or a bit overwhelmed by things. All the ladies I've encountered at Reception have been helpful, kind and professional and the systems in place seem to be working much more efficiently now. The doctors and nurses I see now are also reassuring and approachable and I now feel much more confident that whatever problem or concern I encounter, someone from the team will help me sort it. So...a big thankyou to all of you who work so hard in such challenging times. You're very much appreciated.

Dear Heather, Thank you for providing such positive feedback and taking the time to leave a comment on this site. We appreciate your feedback on your previous service experience, the communications and can only improve from this. All the staff at the Kelvedon & Feering Health Centre work extremely hard to provide a good service and help with patient queries and presenting complaints. It is always good to receive such positive feedback, as well as the negative. Positive comments uplift and motivate our staff to continue to work hard for our patients in the field that they are in. All staff have been made aware of these comments at the practice team meeting and really appreciate your comments on working with you to offer an alternative solution. Thank you from the GP Partners and all the staff here at the Kelvedon & Feering Health Centre.

  10. Review titled Excellent patient centred care.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Michael - Posted on 27 February 2023

I phoned the surgery for assistance with a medical matter. Initially I spoke to the receptionist, after explaining my situation I was told they were unable to help personally but told politely that I could speak to a secretary and was put through immediately. The secretary told me they would look into the issue and find me some telephone contacts at the hospital that may be able to assist me. Within a few minutes that information was sent to me. Unfortunately, the hospital could not help me. The next day I made an appointment to see my GP. The doctor was very helpful and understanding. Reviewing my notes, the doctor suggested a way forward, I was very grateful of this. Within a couple of days I received an update via a text message and a couple of days later I received another text with the results I needed. I cannot thank and praise the Doctor and the surgery enough. At every stage and with every member of staff I received excellent patient care.
