  1. Review titled Fail to get appointments

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Kirsty - Posted on 12 March 2024

I'm not sure how anyone gets an appointment for anyone other than the nurse. A few weeks ago, I called after their lunch, as soon as the practice opened. I was number one in the queue and I waited 35 minutes before someone answered the call. They answered as I was 3 metres from the door as I had decided to walk there and see why it seemed to be taking so long. Yesterday we tried to get an appointment for my partner and was told there were no appointments for the week and to call in the morning for today. He was 6th in the queue when he called, no appointments. Their default response is to go to the walk-in clinic on both occasions. I'd be interested to know what proportion of the days appointments are reserved for ongoing consultations and how many are for on the day bookings. We're hoping he may be deemed worthy of a phone appointment later but I'm not holding my breath.

Dear Kirsty I was very disappointed to read your email, however as you have not provided any further details I cannot comment further. Should you wish to get in touch directly I can certainly investigate this for you. In June we offered 2033 appointments, sadly 71 were DNA. This is 82.9% utilisation. Once the surgery is at capacity we signpost to the most appropriate service, be it A & E, Walk in Centre or Paramedic Visiting Service should the patient be housebound. We also offer extended hours provided by the GP Alliance each evening and weekend. If you would like to receive more facts and figures on our appointments then do please make an appointment to visit the practice and speak with me, where I will be more than happy to oblige. thank you Julie Mayall

  3. Review titled Paramedic that saved my life

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Zowie - Posted on 08 October 2024

In January I was diagnosed with cancer after being constantly up and down feeling ill, Looking green on occasion, constant blood tests, I called and spoke to a lovely Paramedic at the surgery who looked into my notes to find I had been having similar symptoms for around a 6 month period and like I was already thinking she also thought something was seriously wrong and requested I go for deep dive bloods. I collected my form that day and turns out I had cancer. I am very grateful to this wonderful practitioner who saved my life I was in fact on deaths door and without her I wouldn’t now be in remission. Thankyou

  4. Review titled Empathy and professionalism

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Roxenham - Posted on 05 January 2024

Practice has some new colleagues that have transformed the patient care. The new receptionists are excellent, efficient and very effective. The new nursing staff are very knowledgeable, supportive and empathetic to your needs. The practice as a whole has always been excellent, however the recent changes have been for the better and really making the experience more efficient and enjoyable.

  5. Review titled Care and compassion

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Susan Carter - Posted on 29 December 2023

Things have certainly improved at the practice since a certain Doctor has arrived. Phone calls are answered quicker and the attitude of the reception staff is more positive and helpful. Just before Christmas we as a family lost a close member of our family and the care and compassion shown to us by several members of the team but especially to the Practice Director. Thank you for being you.

  6. Review titled Big improvements noticed

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Kerri - Posted on 28 December 2023

I just wanted to say how much of an improvement I’ve seen within the practice. It’s so much easier to get through on the phone and the staff are always really lovely and helpful now. The new chap on the front desk is lovely and the Acp I’ve seen is just wonderful. I felt like she’d read up on me and had time for me when I saw her today. Great addition

  7. Review titled Greatly improved and loved practice

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Linda Holmes - Posted on 11 October 2023

I joined the practice in 1976, and it has seen my self and my family through the joys and troubles of life. The last few years have been bumpy for the practice and it has saddened me to see it going through such a turbulent time. Last week I visited the practice and was heartened to see such a visible change. From the reception to the doctors surgery it felt better. Booking my appointment was easy the appointment was confirmed by text, the waiting area felt more organised. The new doctor was lovely and it was so reassuring to know he was a permanent member of the team. I’ve had more communication from the surgery booking my blood test review without me even contacting them. I feel reassured that the tide is changing and the practice will return to the friendly reliable service it always was. Kensington road surgery has always served its community well because of its personal approach to its patients, it’s wonderful to see it retaining that approach but embracing more efficient and effective methods of delivery. I look forward to future developments and more improvements.

  8. Review titled Appointment issue

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 August 2023

Despite ringing for the last 5 days and spending hours on the phone waiting to talk to a receptionist unable to book an appointment I call at 8.30 and by the time I get through all appointments have gone. Told to queue outside at 8.30 - great if you're well enough but I have mobility issues and can't do this! Have been with the practice a long time and have never known it as bad as this!

We have not been informed of test request from the hospital ( last week we have been notified of an test request on 25 may from children outpatience - 2 months late) not provided with appropriate container for the test, denied the possibility find alternative solutions. The staff is not friendly and communication is poor

Dear Laura As you are aware from our complaint response via NHSE, General Practice do not hold these containers and we went above and beyond to assist you. If a hospital orders any test it is their responsibility to report on that test not the GP. This was all detailed in our response. Julie Mayall Practice Manager
