Review titled Very disappointed
by Anonymous - Posted on 25 February 2025
I went to my surgery today for an appointment. I arrived 20 minutes ahead of time. I checked in on the screen as it asks you to do, I sat and waited. My appointment was a gynaecology appointment which I was quite anxious about, after waiting 20 minutes past my appointment time I went to the reception, where an employee who is a friend recognised me and said I’ve just seen a D by your name, which means you did not attend. I said I’ve been sitting waiting, she asked if the nurse would see me, another receptionist came to me & said I would have to rearrange as I did not check in, I said I did check in, she said you did not, the employee who I know said this system is rubbish. I felt the receptionist was blaming me. What a waste of my time and the surgery’s time as the system does not work. The receptionist are there so why do they not check the patients in? I have to say, I was very unhappy.

The nurse was really caring and lovely, she talked through everything she was doing and made things as easy as could be.

Review titled Not helpful
Rated 1 star out of 5

I called to explain my elderly mother was in pain and experiencing burning sensations in her legs. I asked for advice about whether she could take more of her pain medication and expected a doctor call back. She then said she didn’t understand what I was asking. Bit bizarre. The receptionist suggested I take her to A&E or call the pharmacist. No offer of a doctor call back or appointment. Worrying a receptionist is triaging like this with limited knowledge and suggesting one extreme or another eg accident and emergency or pharmacist. I thought the priority was to prevent people from going to accident and emergency. Next time we will use 111 so we will at least get a minimum level of medical knowledge and follow up care.
