  1. Review titled Awful Practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 August 2024

I'm not one for going to the GP but when I do, I would expect my issue to be taken seriously and dealt with. If that's what you would like then Lakeside surgery isn't for you. I have been complaining of pain for the last few months, if I am lucky to get a GP appointment then I am told to call the hospital and ask where my scans are by the doctor, no chasing happens on Lakesides part. Otherwise I get sent to 8-8 where they cannot refer you to anywhere to take the matter further, so 8-8 tell you to go see your GP... but you can't get an appointment. When a doctor finally gets your blood results in and sees there is a problem, it is confirmed by the practice receptionist that doctors at lakeside in fact do not check previous medical history before giving advice out to the patient so you could end up misdiagnosed and nothing to chase up scans that have previously been requested you have to do this yourself. Regarding getting an appointment, if your unemployed, retired or just have nothing to do on your day off then Lakeside is for you, as calling at 08.30am will set you back roughly a cool 1 hour and 15 minutes wait time while you are always placed in a queue of over 60 people and the call back service is always conveniently disabled at this time. If you are working however, have school run or maybe work for an emergency service where you hit remote locations or areas that have no signal, then you either won't get through in time due to your responsibilities or if the call drops out your re-setting that wait time which results in you getting told to call back tomorrow, and the next day... But wait Lakeside has Anima right? You can just log on at 7.30am and get yourself an appointment via online form. Yes, your right, it does. Unfortunately anima is a huge waste of time and just as reliable as calling in. Firstly your "triaged" a word I use lightly, and placed in some kind of pecking order, you may get an appointment today but it may be at the end of next week or never. The list of options to choose from on Anima are limited and you can never find what your looking for. Still you complete the form, and if you are one of the lucky few where a GP to calls you they won't mention half of what you selected and calls feel very rushed with a reluctance to refer you to anywhere presumably to save money. Lakeside obviously has too many patients, and is clearly happy to take on more, as GPs get paid more by the NHS according to how many patients are registered with them, this is profitable for them do do this. Due to this your care does not feel like lakesides primary concern. Don't ask a receptionist to escalate anything for you either, they won't. Even complaining gets you nowhere, I complained about neglect for my pain issue and blood results, haven't even heard back. I had to use Anima again to try explain this and and an appointment gets made for 1 weeks time, when all I need is my scan made urgent as pain gets worse. Avoid this practice.

  2. Review titled Cardio

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Steve boom - Posted on 23 August 2024

I had a visit to the cardio research team on Tuesday. My heart rate was low and this was report to the surgery. I was contacted on weds and asked to come in immediately, I was at a family funeral so a urgent appointment was made for the following morning. I meet with the doctor and we compared my ecg results with historical ones taken since my heart attack and there was no change. The doctor advised me to monitor my resting heart rate. The doctor was very calm and knowledgeable.

  3. Review titled Excellent member of staff

by Anne - Posted on 25 August 2024

I've been seeing a Social prescriber, who is actually worth her weight in gold. I've been struggling with mental health problems for a few years, I don't know where I'd be now without this service.

I feel the my GP was proactive in identifying and advising me on ways to manage and potentially resolve a health concern to avoid further health complications in future. This was very helpful and beneficial to me

  6. Review titled Losing their way

Rated 4 stars out of 5

    by JonP54 - Posted on 15 August 2024

I have a high regard for the staff at Lakeside Surgery at both sites in Corby. However, since the pandemic the level of care and service has deteriorating rapidly and this switch over to Anima as the sole means of booking an appointment is not working at all. I was discharged from KGH on 10/07 following a DC Cardioversion procedure. I was asked by the cardiac consultant contact my GP for BP monitoring as my Ramipril had been reduced by CCU. I rang first thing on 11/07 & the receptionist put an Anima request thru for me. By 23/07 I had heard nothing other than confirmation that my request was "being considered" so rang again - new Anima request put thru so now had two open requests from r same thing. From nally got a call from GP Zon 29/07 and I was asked to provide 2 BP readings of for 7ds and I was told GP would ring me back regarding my Ramipril dosage immediately after final readings. Heard nothing after 05/08 so chased up on 09/08 and another GP ran me 14/08 and was able to confirm that I can continue on reduced dosage. Luckily this was not a life threatening situation but it could well have been and the response time was very poor. The issue is not with the practice itself but with their reliance on a woefully inadequate system which is geared to generality rather than patient needs . Having to navigate thru a series of set parameters that actually do not address the query he or she wants to raise us quite daunting. An option to ask a question in free open text would over come this issue. Anima has taken away that most important attribute between patient and surgery, human interaction, empathy and reassurance that you matter. I even get the feeling that the health navigators are actually embarrassed when they tell you they have to put your request to speak to a GP. Then there is the wait for Anima to decide if you need an appt and how soon. In reality you are looking at a minimum of a week!! And if you do get a face to face appt when you get there the place is empty. All this puts greater pressure on UCC and the A&E at KGH with people who can't get a GP appt when they need it. I put these thoughts on social media to get feedback of other people's experiences with Anima and was surprised at the number of people had similar concerns. I am not against harnessing the power of technology but it has to be done in a sympathetic way that ultimately protects the basic right of everyone being able to speak to their GP when they need to. Ultimately the NHS thru its many parts is a wonderful caring and yes necessary institutionand without a shadow of doubt I, like many others owe my life to it. I just don't want it to lose that essential human touch which was lost during COVID but never really stored after the pandemic was over

Awful lady on reception. Let me wait there and then she told me I did missed my appointment meanwhile she spoke with another lady and I did came late! How did I came late when you didn’t even asked me what am I doing or whether I came for appointment and carried on talking. It was very unprofessional and very rude.

  8. Review titled Excellent Dr

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Imran khan - Posted on 04 July 2024

Was very pleased with how respectfully I was treated. He listened to everything very carefully and did a thorough investigation into my health issues. He was polite and courteous to both me and my husband. He explained everything clearly and gave me some options to help me with my pain in my knee. He also suggested physiotherapy. It's so important for a doctor to be compassionate and understanding. Thank you for everything today
