Review titled Bewildered
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Nick Boyd - Posted on 22 February 2025
Could someone please explain to me why Lambourn Surgery offers a Dispensary service with the following message: Dispensary: 01488 674040 (this is an answerphone service which is checked several times a day, excluding weekends and bank holidays). The number does not take messages and thus cannot possibly check anything at weekends and bank holidays. This simply means that someone, whose prescription has failed to materialise after a request three working days earlier may panic and seek help from 111 or worse A&E. Also the app now advises me that all my repeat prescriptions now need to be approved by a GP - which I thought was resolved last month when we went through the same procedure. Given that some of these medicines are to do with blood pressure and heart rate control - you might be testing their absence to the maximum. Please resolve or explain why I no longer need any medicines. Kind regards Nick Boyd

Thank you for taking the time to post this review. I know we have since contacted you to try and help with any misunderstanding, but for clarity, the answerphone is open for messages and checked during opening hours. if patients need urgent help with medication when we are closed we would advise to call 111 who can arrange an emergency supply. With regard to repeat medication requests, all medication requests regardless of whether they are on repeat will need to be authorised by a GP each time they are requested. There is also a medication review which is usually annual but can be more frequent depending on the medication. Many thanks again for your feedback and giving us the opportunity to explain our procedures.

Review titled Very upsetting
Rated 1 star out of 5

Had an appointment with a nurse and I have to say was the worst appointment I have ever had. The lady was rude, disrespectful, ignorant and had a go at me (an adult) for looking at my phone. This has made me want to leave this practice, it’s really really gone down hill in the past few years. Upsetting and disappointing, a complete waste of time.

Could I ask you to submit your complaint through the surgery website form in order that we can investigate thoroughly and respond to your concerns. Review titled Fantastic and polite GP
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Honestly the best GP surgery there is, the staff are always so polite and patient with you. The practice is extremely well equipped and I have only had positive experiences with them. They are quick to try and see you, they don't rush you and fully listen to everything you have to say. They have been fantastic in helping with my anxiety and have the patients of saints. They helped me get a diagnosis after 4 years being misdiagnosed by other practices. They are a great example to the NHS

Review titled Awful appointment and prescription service
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Today i went to pick up my tablet which has been ordered weeks ago to only find half of what I normally get and the pharmacy told me this is because I was did not order it however they only issued me half of my tablets told me to go online and order my tablets and she can’t help me it has to be online … I am a working person and working away from home the last weeks back for one day and have to spend it trying to log in to the system that does not work and to leave and email took me 45 min what about the older people they can’t do that so they will die at home because you keep telling people to use the online form I have and you still send me the wrong tablets I am very disappointed in how this was dealt with today you choose the job you are in, you have to deal with patients, you definitely need to do better as you really upset me and made me feel like it is a burden to help me and you spoke to me humiliatingly then did not return to finish your conversation as I could show them that the system did not work as I took a snap shot , not even sorry there has been a mistake you don’t have to say it was you it might have been the system that was down awful service and then send me a txt to tell me I am up for a review of my medication after I ran out !!! Very bad service !!

I am so sorry that you have felt our service was not up to the standard you expected. I would be grateful if you could email the practice on lambourn.surgery@nhs.net or call on 01488 72299 and ask to speak to the practice manager. I can then investigate what has happened in full. We did have an issue with our online system on the 27th and 28th of March which was outside of our control and meant we did not receive all the online forms that were sent through. That said, we should still be trying to rectify and deal with any missing information coming to light after the system returned to normal. I would welcome the opportunity to look into this further. Many thanks for the feedback. Louise Murray-Clarke. Practice Manager
