Review titled Frustrating and Stressful Experience
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 12 August 2024
Unfortunately, my experience with Lambton Surgery has been consistently frustrating. I've had to chase and fight for every single thing I needed, from antibiotics to daily medications, as the surgery seems extremely reluctant to issue prescriptions. The minimum wait time for an appointment is a week, so I’ve had to schedule appointments every two weeks just to manage my healthcare needs. Referrals are practically non-existent. While the nurses are generally polite, I’ve had a couple of instances where blood tests left me with significant bruising. On multiple occasions, I arrived for appointments only to find out they couldn’t be performed and I frequently discovered that my prescriptions weren’t available at the pharmacy. Too often, I was told, "We’ll get back to you" or "We don’t know yet, please call back in two weeks." As someone who works full-time, it's incredibly frustrating to constantly chase after basic healthcare needs. The lack of appropriate care and communication with the GPs has made the entire experience stressful and disappointing.

Dear anon, I apologise that your experience at Lambton Road Medical Practice has not been as positive as you would have hoped. As the comment has been left as anonymous I am unable to explore the difficulties you have experienced. We do pride ourselves on our quick turnaround time with our prescriptions so this is unusual to hear. I just wanted to be clear, we are not associated with the Pharmacy on the ground floor of the Raynes Park Health Centre and I would like to review the problems you are experiencing. We of course do make onward referrals for patients where it is clinically indicated. If you would like to supply me with your more information and your details please do send an email over to swlicb.correspondenceH85051@nhs.net or contact the Practice and ask to speak to my Assistant Practice Manager Kathy or me. Kind Regards, Laura Bourne Practice Manager

Review titled Lacks knowledge about PMDD
by Anonymous - Posted on 03 September 2024
I have been visiting this GP practice multiple times regarding my health issues and eventually discovered on my own that I suffer from Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) after conducting several self-assessment tests, consulting PMDD support groups, and tracking my symptoms. During my initial visit to discuss these concerns, the doctor was dismissive and unprofessional when I brought up PMDD and requested to explore medication options. Despite explaining the severe impact my symptoms have on my mental health, relationships, and work, the doctor repeatedly referred to my condition as "just PMS" and labelled it as "minor," which was extremely frustrating and left me in tears. It is evident that this practice lacks awareness and understanding of PMDD. Patients should not feel belittled or like a nuisance when seeking help for a condition that affects them so profoundly. For half of each month, I struggle with severe depression, rage, anxiety, fatigue, and suicidal thoughts, which makes it incredibly challenging to function. I do not need a GP to dismiss my concerns in such a manner. It is crucial that staff receive proper education on PMDD to better support their patients. Fortunately, I had an appointment at Wolverton to have my IUD removed, and the doctor there was exceptional. Despite my appointment being unrelated to my PMDD, she listened attentively to my concerns about PMDD, showed empathy, and provided valuable advice on managing my symptoms. Unlike my experience at this GP practice, she did not make me feel as though it was "all in my head" and offered much-needed support. I strongly urge this practice to improve its understanding and approach to PMDD to ensure better patient care.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. I have reviewed your consultations in Practice and can see the last GP you saw here did in fact issue the medication you had requested. PMDD is a relatively new (a couple of years) topic and is not always a straight forward diagnosis. I do apologise if you did not feel listened to and would be happy to discuss this further with you. You can contact me by calling the Practice via the usual route or alternatively can send an email over to our generic mailbox: swlicb.correspondenceH85051@nhs.net and address the email for my attention. Review titled Well run practice with thorough doctors and nurses
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Tanya Withers - Posted on 04 February 2024
For both GP appointments and seeing the nurses for procedures (blood tests, vaccinations, etc.), I have always received excellent care. The GPs have always been extremely thorough and have been quick to refer me to specialists when needed. Generally I have been able to get an appointment on the day / following day if I felt the issue was more urgent. A very well run surgery especially at a time when many people in the country are complaining they struggle to get an appointment. Thank you.

I joined this practice in June of this year and I can honestly say that the practice is amazing. Great doctors and friendly helpful and efficient staff. I am so glad that myself and my husband registered here as they have been brilliant with my husband who was diagnosed with cancer in June of this year.

Review titled Great practice, lovely staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Katy S - Posted on 20 November 2023
I've just moved to the area and was advised to register with Lambton Road. I've had contact with 3 GP's, one trainee, one ?locum and one partner/salaried GP. On each of the contacts I've had, I have been able to discuss my concerns, I was listened to and I've had the best treatment from any surgery I've been in before. The availability of appointments with any given/specific GP is fantastic. For ongoing issues I've seen the same GP a few times and for urgent on the day I've been seen within hours. The continuity is good. Reception staff have been good, though I do everything I can online. When I've phoned up, they've been polite, courteous and helpful.

Had my bloods taken by a very warm and friendly nurse. Then a Pap test by a very sweet and informative nurse. Both made my experience very pleasant.

Review titled Average - gone downhill
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 18 August 2023
Lambton Road used to be very good, but their patient standards have unfortunately been dropping. Example - I recently came in for a blood test, for which I was four minutes later than the 10-minute grace period. I was told the nurse did not want to see me anymore, and they sent me away. Of course it’s the patient’s responsibility to be on time, so I apologised. I also explained I could not find parking (I had to drive due to injury) - and ultimately parked somewhere risking a ticket. I offered to wait longer, but still no mercy. For a blood test that takes a few minutes, I find it a bit shocking to treat patients like this. To interpret their policy this black and white is silly. They would have been able to do another patient for a blood test in the mean time anyway - as there is always a queu and patients have to wait (no excuse for me not to be on time though). I had to rebook. The phone wait and wait lists here are long - some of the longest I’ve experienced. Just to get a simple blood test appointment can take weeks these days. Not ideal if a patient is trying to get their health checked, and this could have easily been avoided by being a little bit more flexible.

Thank you for taking the time to inform me of your concerns. I will liaise with the clinician and the team on the day to find out what happened. We do try to be as flexible as possible but there are times we are unable to fit in late patients especially if this has a knock on effect to others, but we do generally try to fit patients in where possible. In regards to queues at the desk, we also have automatic check in screens located in reception for patients to use should the front desk be busy. We review our telephone wait times bi-monthly to ensure patients are treated quickly and efficiently, and I can confirm that the phone wait times are the lowest they have been for quite period of time. I would be happy to discuss your concerns further with you, please contact me via our Practice email address: swlicb.correspondenceH85051@nhs.net Kind Regards, Laura Bourne Practice Manager Lambton Road Medical Practice

Review titled Very low standard of patient care
Rated 2 stars out of 5

It is impossible to get an appointment. It is a different locum every time. During my last visit, I asked them for a copy of my blood test results. The doctor said "here you go, knock yourself out" as they gave me the printout.
