  1. Review titled No concern for patients

Having visited the surgery and phoned and left messages. Still waiting a fit note and unable to claim any benefit without it. The doctors does have the notes but refuses to make contact despite the patient being vulnerable and increased anxiety. How can this be right !

I am sorry to hear you are unhappy with our service, you are able to request fit notes through our website and these can be backdated for long term sickness , we do advice patients to use our online services where possible to free up our team dealing with other enquiries and for efficiency in progressing requests through the correct departments

  2. Review titled Awful, just awful

Rated 1 star out of 5

I called explaining I’d put my back out and was in excruciating pain and could not get out of bed (after waiting over an hour and a half to get through). An hour later I spoke to a paramedic who said she would call “straight back” after numerous follow on calls from me (30 mins to an hour on hold) with people explaining I should “hopefully get a prescription at some point” my wife went to the surgery in person (which on numerous occasions we were told not to) to demand the prescription was written (8 hours after the call with the paramedic).

We are sorry to read you were unwell and hope you have now recovered. We would recommend that patients who need urgent on the day treatment such as this call 111 for same day advice and treatment. We are unable to investigate anonymous reviews however if you would like us to investigate why a prescription was not issued during your consultation, please do write to our practice manager.

  3. Review titled Impossible to get an appointment with a doctor

Rated 1 star out of 5

My wife went to QE2 last week because there was nobody at Larksfield who could see her. The GP at QE2 said that it was really important that she get an appointment with our GP. Since that moment, 10 days have passed and despite various phone calls and visits to the surgery it’s not been possible to see a doctor face to face. My wife’s symptoms haven’t improved and we don’t know what to do. Based on anecdotal comments made at the surgery, there are only 4 doctors in the practice and none are working full time. This is unacceptable to give patients the run-around. The situation has gotten so bad that the surgery liason group has stopped communicating because they receive no feedback from the practice. If an alternative existed we’d change practice but there isn’t an alternative. Am not expecting a response from anyone about this, just wanted others to see understand how bad things are for patients in Stotfold and the surrounding area.

Larksfield Medical centre is currently reviewing its staffing levels and we hope you see an improvement to the service. The teams here have worked incredibly hard over the last few years and remained committed to the service and patients. Our priority is to increase both administration and clinical staffing levels. We have also increased our online appointment availability. We hope to be fully recruited to by early 2023 including clinicians. Our PPG meet with our Practice Manager for regular updates and regular updates are posted through the Larksfield social media page and website

  4. Review titled Shambles

Ongoing peri-meno treatment requiring prescribed medication. In order to get this medication I had to go to private GP as no appointments to diagnose. This practice agree with diagnosis but want to review prescription every 8 weeks - phone where I take my own blood pressure and tell GP what it said! However, no appointments to even do that, completely disjointed approach as I have form that says review in October not 8 weeks. Have to wait at least 30 minutes to get through to anyone at any time of day. I wish I had the finance to remain private as this local surgery is completely overstretched to the extent it can't help anyone and can't move surgeries so no choice but to be continually frustrated every 8 weeks with worry that I won't have my medication in time!!

Many thanks for your feedback. We are sorry to hear you are disappointed with the service at Larksfield hopefully you will see changes going forward as we are increasing staffing levels at the practice. We do encourage patients who can to take their Blood pressure at home in a more relaxed environment for a more effective reading this also saves valuable appointments. We do have BP monitors to loan patients in these circumstances
