  1. Review titled Very friendly and professional staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Barry Austin - Posted on 23 March 2023

After recently signing on with this practice after leaving another, I was extremely impressed with everyone I came into contact with from the receptionist to the doctor. The attention I received could not have been better, considering the stresses the NHS is under at the moment.

A very quick response to my e-consult request this morning followed by a helpful conversation with one of the reception team. Excellent service particularly at a time when the system is under such pressure.

Following a major fracture to my wife’s femur, the doctors and receptionists organised prescribing pain killers and referral to the fracture clinic without delay. Thanks for everyone’s efforts

Rated 5 stars out of 5

A huge thank you to the whole team at Lavant Rd Surgery. Everyone I have spoken to on the telephone has been very helpful, even during these times which must be so difficult for them. I have been seeing a wonderful doctor who has such a kind and caring manner. She is super thorough and efficient too and I really appreciate the time and trouble that she has taken with me. Thank you so much.

  5. Review titled Shocking service

Rated 1 star out of 5

Rude, unhelpful. New patient trying to organise a repeat prescription (Uni Student). Told to email the surgery. No email information given, website suggests downloading the Patient Access App, which does not work. Sends you to SystmOnline, but you need to have permission from the Practice to access this. Second call, receptionist just put the phone down!! Perhaps some sessions in customer care would be a good idea!!

  6. Review titled I've been refused help

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by A Hennessey - Posted on 02 January 2023

I have been struggling with a chronic condition for 21 years with a terrible flare up for months now. I understand the struggle GPs are under but when I was in desperate need I feel let down and ignored. I phoned for an appointment at least 6 separate times after being advised to carry on with medication that was not working. I waited the time I was told and phoned as advised. I was told the specialist nurse was not in and to phone tomorrow. Over and over again? my eyes had swollen shut, I couldn't phrase how bad and how much pain I was in any more than what I'd said but it didn't matter. I was in tears begging for an appointment, for I didn't even care when. A month from then? whenever there was one, to see any doctor who would listen to me and maybe try something new. But I was told 'that's not the way it works'. I've changed surgeries now because as a student I'd rather travel 2 hours to be seen at my home than to suffer anymore than I have already. I just needed a prescription to try something new. This is not the first problem I've had. I struggled with mental health issues last year and was told to phone in an emergency if I was ever feeling really bad and was told there was no appointments to speak to anyone other than the following week (I expected this, I just needed something in the works to keep me going). I said I'd accept, already embarrassed and was told 'It's clearly not an emergency then'. what was the need? who would say that to someone? what if that was the final straw for someone else? I feel as though I was taken advantage of because I would never scream or kick off at anyone, least of all a public sector worker. But I've not been offered any alternative options. I've suffered for months over something that maybe could have been solved. It's not that I couldn't have appointments but the fact I had no options, alternatives or any further advice. It's been devastating.

  7. Review titled Excellent Doctors and receptionists

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mark Geary - Posted on 28 November 2022

Having recently moved into the area I can honestly say that the we have found the service here to be excellent. The Doctors we have seen have both had excellent patient manner, been very efficient, courteous and effective. Equally, the staff on the desk have also been helpful and friendly. I have unfortunately witnessed on a number of occasions patient's being, well, less than patient, with the staff taking the brunt of the rudeness and hostility when it hasn't appeared necessary. I understand that the system can be frustrating but shouting is unlikely to change anything. I have given them five stars as this is the maximum allowed.
