Review titled Awful Service
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 04 June 2023
I have a bad experience with the GP Lawrence House as my mom needs an appointment and it’s really difficult to get it. They said we should call at 8am, but the phone doesn’t even ring between 8-8:30am. It’s like the line is disconnected somehow. Also we need a sick note, and after a week, nobody give us one or explained why has not been send. The admin staff doesn’t give some much information as they claimed have limit information, but then to whom we should contact then?

Dear patient, Thank you for your feedback. I do apologise for this poor experience, but our phonelines are busiest at 8am. We try our best to get to all calls as quickly as possible, but with so many patients calling this can be difficult. We offer other ways of booking appointments, such as eConsult and our online appointments. If you would like further information on how sicknotes work, please email the surgery at lawrencehousesurgery@nhs.net and we will be able to discuss this with you.

Review titled Brilliant practice

I had a frozen shoulder and was in agony, I booked an appointment the same day and a doctor at the practice was able to do a steroid injection for me. Not all surgeries have doctors who can do this. My shoulder is much better now! Great service.

Really helpful advice given to me by a doctor. She presented all treatment options to me - both medical and holistic - and pointed me to lots of follow up resources. I also received a follow up text with website links.

Review titled Poor service

I rang between 8-9am and was so surprised I got through. I booked an appointment for my 4 year old the only option given was 1510, I explained at the time this was going to be difficult. I have 2 young children to organise. I may be a bit late and was assured not to worry I would be seen. A note was left for the Doctor to explain. I got there 10 min late and spent 3 minutes at reception trying to book in. I was told it was a Did Not Attend and the GP refused to see my young child. I had to rebook. I was then given a phone call. I thought they had changed their mind and was going to see my child. Instead it was their miscommunication they told me and will see me on the next appointment. The lack of understanding or concern for the situation was upsetting. The GP was so flippant over the phone. The GP should have seen my child. Who turns a child away when a urgent appointment was made for that day? No compassion at all. As a patient I did all I could to communicate across my situation and get my child their. I am looking for a new GP the service and attitude of this practice given this experience disgusted me.

Hi, Thank you for your review and I am sorry you feel we let you down. Practice Policy is to not see patients who are 10 minutes late to an appointment, as this will cause issue with the GP's clinics. The GP did still contact you even though you missed the appointment. If you would like to make a formal complaint, please email us at lawrencehousesurgery@nhs.net

Review titled A practice with a good team
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mark Ellerby - Posted on 26 February 2023
The doctor took my case on via a phone appointment. He requested that I send a photo of the lesion on my chest which sent him using SMS. His diagnosis required a referral to hospital, which was responded to by the hospital in approx. 2 weeks. The lesion was excised by department at the hospital, which was sent for biopsy. After 2 weeks the stitches were removed by one of the other doctors at the GP surgery. During this process I was put at ease by the doctor’s treatment and confidence. The biopsy result followed one week later. Overall, this was an excellent piece of diagnosis and analysis conducted by a good team both at the GP surgery and the hospital. As with earlier events in my health treatment, this GP surgery is built around a core/team of people who work for this community and present a good case for the NHS as a whole. My case was also supported by my use of phone and computer. Needless to say, this surgery is situated in a diverse community and the administrative aspect of the team is equally prepared to support the patients who arrive. This section of the team ensure, where they can, that I and other patients understand what is or will be happening next.
