Review titled An Excellent Practice with Top Quality Staff in all Roles
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Steve Battersby - Posted on 21 March 2025
I am prompted to leave this review following an excellent experience today with the efficient and helpful reception staff. I returned from an overseas trip yesterday, only to discover that I had left my eyedrops in the fridge of the hotel where I was staying. I had no second bottle at home. I therefore called the reception at 10:30 to explain the problem and the receptionist I spoke to was very understanding and helpful. By 13:30, a prescription had been issued to my local pharmacy and the eyedrops were in my fridge at home by 16:00. What service! However, looking at the other reviews over the last 2 years (they have to be less than 2 years old), I also wanted to comment on the quality of the Practice in general. There are currently 10 other reviews of Lindfield Medical Centre on the NHS website, 4 giving 5 stars, 1 giving 3 stars, 2 giving 2 stars and 3 giving 1 star. To my opinion, this is a 5 star practice for sure. I have been a patient for over 40 years and can say without hesitation that I have always received the very best service, the very best attention and the very best advice on each and every occasion that I have had cause to seek their help. I have no doubt that the 5 patients giving 2 stars or 1 star had good reason to give these ratings, but these ratings should be swamped by the vast number of 4 and 5 star ratings from others. Regrettably, it is in human nature to criticise more readily than to praise. The Practice has an interesting page entitled “Practice in Numbers for <Previous Month>”. (Try a search using “Lindfield Medical Centre practice-in-numbers-for-february” for example). Here, we are informed that the practice has 10371 registered patients, yet only 10 gave any feedback via the NHS website in the last 2 years. What about the other 10361? We are also informed that the Practice saw 2278 patients in February 2025. If we scale that up assuming the same number of appointment each month, that’s 54,672 appointments in the last 2 years. Yet only 10 gave feedback via the NHS website and only 4 gave more than 3 stars. I feel very sad for the staff at this excellent Practice. This is not a fair reflection of their work. I could add more and more stories about the excellent service I have received from them since I registered as a new patient in 1983. I would like to make my gratitude clear via this review and I hope that other fully satisfied patients can add their own positive experiences to my own.

Tried to make my first appointment. No answer on the phone. Tried the NHS app to book and the form does not work after 4PM. I work and do not have the time to do this Used the NHS app, a nightmare and just referred me back to the telephone. It would be a good idea to have a booking system. Similar to air BnB. The doctor could show availabiliy times.

Dear David Thank you for your comments and we apologise for the difficulty you encountered when trying to book an appointment. By moving to a Total Triage system we want to ensure our patients are able to access the right service and see the right member of our team at the right time, thereby we facilitate equity of access to care. Our online booking system is routinely open from Monday to Friday 0800 to 1600 and our telephone lines are open from 0800 to 1830 where the Reception team will be happy to help. If you would like to discuss further please email the Patient Services Manager via sxicb-wsx.lindfield.reception@nhs.net Thank you. Lindfield Medical Centre

Review titled The new systems online format
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Both my husband and I have found the new Triage system rather confusing . For example , the recorded message prior to being connected to the surgery , keeps stating “full triage” and triage form” However , the pre-supposes that everyone knows what triage means and there is no mention of the term on the website, when you choose options. Perhaps it could be made clearer to everyone in terms that could be understood , that really it refers to appointments section , this would be especially helpful to those who are easily confused and would also help the surgery by reducing the number of calls to reception . Thank you

Review titled Terrible reception staff (not all of them)
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Recently rang up regarding an appointment, the receptionist I spoke to both times was very unbothered and sounded like she didn’t want to help, after our conversation didn’t say goodbye or anything just hung up.

Review titled Rude and insensitive staff
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 20 November 2024
I rang up today to ask for an appointment with my GP as the GP had received a letter with the results of a test for cancer. The receptionist told me that I could not book an appointment and started telling me how many patients they had on their books and that it would be over 30 days before an appointment could be made. Given the context in which I was calling, I found her extremely insensitive and rude. I do not see any improvements in the way the reception staff are since the switch to the new appointment system. My most shocking experience was when I asked for an appointment for my young daughter who needed antibiotics for an infection and was told she could have an appointment in three months time. A terrible service.

Review titled Very happy with this practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Gillian Hodgson - Posted on 01 August 2024
Both my husband and I have had health issues recently. I think we are very lucky with our GPs. Yes, it can be hard to get an appointment sometimes but we have found reception to be very helpful when it is a real emergency. I have also found e consult to be useful and have always had a quick reply either with advice or a same day appointment. Yesterday evening a GP phoned me well after closing hours because I’d had a dodgy test result.

Review titled Very hard to get an appointment
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 04 April 2024
Having been texted by the surgery to make an appointment I rang and was told by the receptionist there were no appointments for April but I could ring again in a week and I might get one in May, I understand the Doctors might not be worried about my newly diagnosed condition after a scan but I am, but what can I do, absolutely nothing. This medical centre used to be fantastic in the past but now hardly anyone you talk to is happy with it, very sad. In the Daily Telegraph today it said that only 7.7% have to wait over a month, well, what a pity it turns out to be us.

Review titled Outrageous
Rated 1 star out of 5

Beware. I am suffering from Covid 19. I had a positive test on 5 days ago. Have been very unwell and unsafe under Lindfield Surgery. I phoned Lindfield to be able to speak to a doctor about my condition because I have underlying asthma and often have chest infections and am 65 years old. None of the receptionists have put me through to a doctor in 5 days. They do not appear to care. I asked for anti virals knowing that my condition could become serious. Apparently only given to people who have cancer etc. I got worse had to phone 111 due to heart palpitations, an ambulance came around and tried to help. They were first class. The surgery keeps telling me to go to A and E Guess what I am too ill to drive and I live in the sticks. I have even done e consult but still I am being ignored, no doctors call. I have been told the doctors only work part time , there are not many doctors. Does anyone actually care to find more doctors. Can't the doctors work more hours than part time, to save patients suffering unnecessarily. To top it all off, I now have yellow pus after coughing alongside Covid , but I'm not even worth a telephone call for a prescription for antibiotics. I feel sorry for all the vulnerable people who are not being prioritized. Old people, babies, people with Covid, heart problems and cancer

I contacted the surgery by econsult and was offered a face to face appointment within 2 hours. I know how hard you are working to achieve this, thank you.

Review titled Can’t get an appointment

It has become almost impossible to get an appointment at this surgery and this feels like a real declining community service.
