  1. Review titled Very disheartening

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 March 2025

I am struggling with worsening acute anxiety and have been trying to get a follow-up appointment with a doctor. I have seen 3 different ones so far over past 2 months and asked to see the one I saw last. I was told on the phone on Friday that there were appointments with that GP on Monday but they could not be booked. I would have to use the online form when it became available on Monday. Submitted the form first thing this am. Received text invite to book a routine appt. Next available appt with ‘anyone’ 25/3. Next appt with preferred doctor nil. Phoned reception to be told that appt available but now not till 26/3. Too long to wait, I said. Asked to speak to a doctor. Told nothing at all till Wed. Booked appt with 4th unfamiliar doctor. Advised to put in online complaint form. Not the receptionist’s fault but the booking/triage service is not fit for purpose. No continuity, no compassion.

  2. Review titled Terrible Practice unfit for purpose

Rated 1 star out of 5

I called yesterday to make an appointment to see a GP I was experiencing Dizziness for 3 days and was told they would triage and get back to me which they did and said one word. The Pharmacy no explanation so off I went to 4 chemists to speak to the Pharmacist all said the same as you are on Medication we cannot issue you anything to help you need to see your GP who should never have sent you to a chemist you need to be examined by a doctor ....off I go to this surgery to be told after 45 mins you need to go and get a CT scan no doctor available to see you by the poor receptionist no letter not a thing now I don't visit the Doctors habitually unless I have anything wrong with me so I now believe this surgery is not fit for purpose they had me on the run around all day when they knew from the outset that I was on medication and that a chemist was not in the position to help me yet they persisted in letting me keep trying what an earth is all that about ?

The doctor was faultless. She assessed the medical issue and explained, step by step, quite logically how she arrived at her decision. Excellent. A real attribute to the Practice & the NHS. Thank you.

  4. Review titled Above & Beyond Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Ama Verdi-Ashton - Posted on 28 October 2024

My son and I have been struggling to get him seen by the Eye Hospital since his return to Birmingham. The hospital wanted a referral which was not forthcoming despite me exploring the usual avenues. Today I was lucky enough to speak to an excellent receptionist, what a shame I cant use her name in this review as I had an outstanding experience. I couldn't be more grateful for her help. From the moment I explained my situation, she listened attentively and showed genuine empathy, making me feel immediately at ease. She laid out a clear plan of action, so I knew exactly what steps she would take to address my issue. True to her word, she followed through quickly and kept me informed throughout the process, which left me feeling completely supported and reassured. Thanks to her diligence and professionalism, the referral is in, which means my son will get the treatment he needs. She truly went above and beyond, and I am so appreciative of her exceptional help. Many could take a big leaf out of her book. Thank you!!

  5. Review titled Let down badly

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Mario Attard - Posted on 12 September 2024

I'll get straight to the point, last Friday night I had a bad fall at home, I didn't call 999, I waited till Monday to try fix me an appointment but refused by the system. I'm not the average 69 year old, I've lived independently for the last 26 years, the only time I hear from my surgery is stupid flu reminders, how about some care? I've yet to be told the result of my last cti scan 2 months ago. Yet the site's telling me you're accepting new patients, so what is it? Am I black listed for expressing my opinion? I've been with this surgery for over 26 years, I used to have the privilege of seeing a regular doctor and I can name them all but past couple of years it's whoever, like a lottery. I'm very concerned about the state of service so therefore I'll be writing to my local MP. Just because I'm old I'm not necessarily over the hill yet. All I was asking for was 10 minutes with any doctor for reassurance.

  6. Review titled Worried

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Mario Attard - Posted on 05 August 2024

I'm worried about the future as it's getting increasingly difficult to get an appointment now. Also my prescriptions all tend to look the same in shape and colour, surely the drug companies must be aware of this issue. I'm also still waiting on my recent CT scan result.

We are Lordswood understand that patients have felt frustrated about access to services. We are continually recruiting for additional administration and clinical staff. Our latest news on access/demand and recruitment can be found in the patient newsletter that is published on the website. Unfortunately, we have no control on the manufacturer's choice of shape or colour used in production of their medicines. However, we would suggest getting a dosset box from Amazon and you can disperse your daily medication in to these at the beginning of each week and this should help you identify which tablets are to be taken each day. It is also not practice policy to report scan or test results that require no follow-up. If the result was normal, you can request these results via email or phone , and if still symptomatic request a follow-up yourself with a clinician. If your results are delayed, we again have no control of hospital backlogs , and unfortunately delays do occur. Thank You.

  7. Review titled Terrible Service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 26 June 2024

You wait 28 days for an appointment to take blood for to test proper kidney / liver function. The day before your appointment they cancel appointment and the next appointment I can make is 25 days time! 53 days to take a blood test. Completely incompetent management. You cannot submit a request for an appointment before 8:30am. If you work for your living by 8:30 you are travelling to work or at work. It feels like they deliberately making it difficult for working people to get an appointment. Why can't you submit a request at 7am? Because you are in charge and you say so?

Dear patient, Thank you for your comments and I am sorry to hear you have had to wait so long for a blood test. Unfortunately, we have had a number of the team who have been unwell recently and, where this happens clinics have to be cancelled. Whilst this is far from ideal, it is regrettably circumstances outside of our control. The request forms on our website are quick and easy to complete but if you need assistance at any time, you can call the practice and our reception team will assist you in completing the form. Thank you for taking the time to get in touch and if you would like any further help then please let us know. Kind regards Angie Newton Business Manager Lordswood Medical Group

  8. Review titled Triage

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Mr Osborne - Posted on 21 May 2024

We were told that the triage system would solve communication problems - rubbish. I have tried on 3 occasions to use it only to be told to try the next day owing to sickness problems. I have then waited on the phone to be answered, and when it was, they directed me to triage again. It won’t work without sufficient staff.
