I was left feeling very upset with the response from the receptionist following a call to the surgery to notify them that my dad had very sadly passed away. I started the conversation by advising that I was ringing to advise that my dad had recently passed away and asked whether the surgery had already received notification directly from the hospital. At this point, no acknowledgement of my loss was forthcoming, I was just asked for my dad's date of birth. On providing the details, the reply was 'Yes we have, how can I help you?'. I then stated again that I was just ringing to notify them of my dad's passing or to check whether they already knew, and the reply this time was 'Oh yes, sorry, take care, goodbye'. Due to ill health, my dad had been attending the surgery several times a week for many months and was well-known by his GP and the nursing staff. I feel extremely disappointed and saddened by my experience with the receptionist as it appeared that I was not being listened to properly and also by the complete lack of empathy shown. I feel strongly that staff within a GP or hospital setting should receive bereavement training and also be capable of implementing that training at the most difficult time for relatives of the deceased.

I am so very grateful to the whole team at Lydden surgery for their support over a very difficult succession of adverse health concerns. In particular my named GP, but everyone I have had contact with has been respectful, caring and tried to help even in sometimes challenging circumstances. I cannot fault anyone. Thank you so much.

I am not going to name my favourite GP on here in case others get jealous ;) but you are the best GP I've ever had, & I'd be lost without this, thank you. You were so helpful at what was a very difficult time. know this must have meant a lot of hard work behind the scenes. Thank you :)

fantastic level of care from all the staff at Lydden Surgery. The whole practice I cannot fault. I am Extremely grateful. Cannot fault.
