A very helpful young man, what a star! What a wonderfully refreshing experience; he was helpful, empathetic and came to my aid as he promised.

  2. Review titled Terrible Communication

Rated 1 star out of 5

I called yesterday due to my 4 year old little boy complaining of pain when passing urine. I was number 2 in the telephone queue, my call wasn’t answered for 14 minutes, when I finally spoke to someone I was told all the appointments were gone. Number 2 in the queue yet no appointments! I asked the man I spoke to if I could have a telephone appointment, apparently not even this was possible, it was only because I made it abundantly clear that my little boy was experiencing multiple symptoms of a Uti that he said ‘guess I could speak to the on call doctor’ he asked me what the symptoms were, pain when passing urine, frequent urination and slight redness - off he went. He called me back just under 2 hours later telling me the Doctor had prescribed 2 items, one oral and one cream, so I asked him ‘did the doctor confirm he thinks it’s a water infection?’ To which his reply was ‘no he didn’t say that’ so I asked what it was he thinks it is.. and this is where I am absolutely appalled, his reply was ‘I don’t know I can’t remember I guess I could check’ but then never proceeded to go check.. at this point I’d had enough of the call. I went to the chemist and before allowing my son to have any of the medication prescribed to him I spoke with the pharmacist to find out what had been prescribed and what they were for. The oral medicine she said was typically used for skin infections and the cream was used for bacterial infections usually of the nose.. she said shed never seen this cream used on a genital area. I spoke with her in depth about my sons symptoms and she agreed it sounded like a Uti - she looked at the bnfc website and confirmed what medication should be used to treat someone of his age with these symptoms. She advised to go back to the surgery and have the prescription changed. The man I spoke with on reception at Meadowbrook surgery I feel, clearly didn’t relay the information to the prescribing doctor correctly else surely the doctor would have prescribed the correct medication. The doctors at this practice are wonderful, when you are eventually able to get an appointment they are knowledgable and helpful but getting through the bouncers on reception is becoming a joke. And if they can’t relay information correctly to a doctor then that could be dangerous. I could have given my son unnecessary medication, if this was to happen to someone else then they could be giving their children, or themselves the wrong medication, I am honestly so angry the more I think about it. May I add, every time you go into Meadowbrook there’s absolutely no patients waiting in the waiting area, when I had to go in yesterday to get the prescription changed not a single person was in there yet I was told all the appointments for the day were gone. My partner has been with this surgery years, I myself 6 years and my son since he was born and we will be moving practices. I hope this draws attention to my issues & someone contacts me as I really am quite angry.

I had major surgery Friday 6th I have been distarged since late Monday night tried getting a appointment 2 days running to speak to a doctor about a serious heath worry but everytime I call they say no appointments even if 8.35 in morning surely if I'm ill after surgery my doctor should help but they tell you to call 111 even though 111 are telling you to go to the gp I'm sick of eing treated like my life don't matter
