I would like to thank the nursing staff at Carlton House for the excellent care and treatment I have received over the last three months. The appointments were to time and nothing was too much trouble for them. Full marks indeed.

Today I needed urgent care, not emergency. 8am - Constantly rang the surgery until i got through to a machine for an appointment, no 24 in the queue! I had to be patient, it took 15mins on hold to speak to a person. When I did they were polite, understanding with a promise of a call back. ( who knows how long that queue was!) A triage doc called me back within 1.5 hrs and recognised that I needed to be seen by a doc today - face to face within 2 hours of my starting the process. My doc was thorough, had read my notes prior so that made my appt easier. I cant fault the NHS service, today. Maybe I'm lucky but I always find the Reception Staff helpful and willing, it must be a stressful job. Us unwell anxious patients are sometimes a bit short! This is not a one off experience for me, hence I feel the need to recognise and say thank you to all concerned.

I was ill for a week and today morning I was calling from 7:50 am. And found myself at Que no 13. When reception answered the call, I asked to book an appointment for me and my wife. She told me she can’t book for both. Then I asked her to book only for me. As she asked I was telling my problems and she told me I cannot discuss everything in today’s appointment.. what a rubbish. Then she told me some one will give me a call and will see whether I need a face to face meeting. I can’t imagine how much the system is broken. I asked NHS to investigate this.

Trying to book an appointment is incredibly stressful - I called at 8am when the surgery opened and found myself 30th in a queue. Waited for nearly an hour to get to the front, then as the receptionist picked the phone up she must have accidently cut me off. I would have thought they would be able to trace my number and to call me back - of course that didn't happen. Patchs is not fit for purpose - tried to get on that at 7.30 and already it was telling me that all the appointments for that day had gone (how is that possible?) and to try tomorrow. It is almost as if they pre-program Patchs not to come on. It is no surprise that waiting times at a & e are so long, if the entry point for medical care is so inefficient. This used to be a really good practice before the medicus took it over. They have obviously taken on too many patients and can't now cope with the numbers.

I suspect this practice is overwhelmed with patients - getting an appointment is impossible and if you want to use the 'Patchs' service (which is a great idea!) you need to be quick. Today it opened at 7.30am and was closed at 7.36am. Getting a repeat prescription is hard (see Patchs) and when you do get through the staff are generally rude and often give out incorrect information. This used to be a great surgery but I couldn't recommend it now
