  1. Review titled Great practice - kudos to the receptionists

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jenny - Posted on 14 August 2022

I knew this was a great practice the moment I moved to the area one year ago. Recently I have had major illness and several surgeries (I was in hospital for almost 3 weeks). it has been extremely difficult for me arranging the many follow up appointments I need to help me recover. There are problems in the 'system' for sure, but the staff and receptionists at this practice are aware and they go above and beyond in helping you as much as they can - they help you as a human being and patient. The receptionists at this practice set the benchmark of extreme kindness, empathy and understanding (they are wonderful). From there you meet the doctors and nurses and other staff who work there and that level of kindness and doing their best within their remit exceeds. Yes, I am having a difficult time of it, not made easy because of issues and problems that exist within the 'system' that they work in, but I am blessed to be with this practice because they are currently helping me navigate my way through this so I receive the best recovery and after care I need to. Big thanks/love to them and everything they do. I would have been lost without them this past week since I was discharged from hospital.

  2. Review titled most awful reception staff I have ever experienced

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 August 2022

The Drs and nurses maybe good at this practice, the reception staff should simply be replaced, or at least some of them. Both on the phone and face to face they are truly awful, rude, discourteous, unsympathetic when dealing with vulnerable people. I have unfortunately witnessed it numerous times at the mile oak centre, and now have been subject to it. Even though on the website it says the phone systems are not working properly and if you can't get through go to reception to make an appointment, After numerous unsuccessful calls (often on hold for 20 mins or more before being cut off and starting again) they point blank refused, told me I was lying about not being able to get through on the phone and would not book me in, the lady's attitude was awful, I was clearly unwell and needed help ( not angry or shouting) and she didn't care and sent me away...3 weeks and still no appointment as i need to see a Dr direct and relatively urgent...she told me to call 999 even though it is not a 999 situation, which would be an awful waste of the emergency services. Every experience with the receptionist has been awful and really people like that are in the wrong job. Kindness, patience and drop the rude attitude esp when dealing with the elderly, vulnerable and people clearly in need. I ask the receptionist, why are you doing this job when clearly you hate it and are not people person and almost enjoy seeing elderly and vulnerable struggle, shame on you and for a Drs I would say unacceptable, it puts the practice to shame.
