Review titled Trying to get an appointment
by authenticww33 - Posted on 24 November 2023
I have been trying for over a week to make an appointment on the app and found it an absolute waste of time. It just jeeps saying appointments not available at this time and it says it all day. I've tried ringing but I'm at work and can't afford to wait why I'm 50+in line. You need to sort the app and appointment system out. I'm in so much pain with my shoulder blade.

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. Millcroft Medical Centre now operates an online triage system where requests for appointments are triaged by a member of our clinical team to ensure that patients are seen by the appropriate clinician for their problem, which may not always be a Doctor. Please visit https://florey.accurx.com/p/N81016 to submit an online request. A member of our team will contact you following submission to discuss your request. The service operates between 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday. Should you wish to discuss your concerns further please contact the practice and leave your details and a member of our Management team will be happy to call you. Thank You Millcroft Medical Centre

Review titled Disappointing receptionist
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 27 October 2023
Used the online triage system which is a pain in itself, when I got a call back the receptionist thought that my LO sounded find enough over the phone as she could hear her following me around and talking. This would of been fine however I mentioned that she was wheezing and working a bit harder to breathe, still didn't get an appointment. Rang back after lunch as she had gotten worse, still wanting to run around and play but was putting even more effort into breathing and then got told to go to a&e and my LO had to then spend the night in the hospital. This might not have happened if I was given an appointment when I first asked, makes me lose faith in the practice especially with a child that has had problems like this in the past.

Review titled Useless
Rated 2 stars out of 5

I spent over 4 months trying to get another appointment here as the last 3 times I’ve called they have been busy or not helpful. Every time I have had an appointment I barely get any help. For this appointment specifically I had to wake up extra early for an appointment and was 5 minutes late being stuck in traffic and not being able to get a parking space. Once I got inside the screen said I was too late and had to wait in line for 20 minutes. By the time they actually checked me in, I was told to wait for nearly an hour before being told the doctor was not available anymore and was turned away.

Review titled Rude Nurse
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 04 October 2023
After submitting an e-consult regarding possible onset of tonsillitis (which I have had many times before so I know what it looks like), I received a phone call from one of the nurses (I cannot remember her name). She had a very rude attitude to begin with, and was then rude in what she said. Despite the picture I attached showing clear redness and spots on my throat, she proceeded to tell me “there is certainly no redness or swelling, and you certainly do not need antibiotics for this.” I felt taken aback my her attitude and as if she was gaslighting me and making me feel stupid for even asking for help. I remember her calling me at the start of the year for a similar concern and her having the same attitude, so I dread to think what her attitude is like with everyone else. I should add, everyone who I’ve shown my throat to in person has said how red it is and that I should call the doctors, so I’m not being over dramatic. I think it’s time that I change my GP surgery to be honest!

Review titled Extremely difficult making an appointment
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Lisa Oliver - Posted on 27 September 2023
There seems to be a gap in contact details such that telephoning the GP appears the only option. There is no messaging in the NHS app or email address available. Telephoning results in +45 minutes wait assuming attempting contact when the phone lines open. Calling later in the day results in a constant engaged tone. As a patient with acquired sight loss this is prohibitive and certainly not inclusive. This adds unnecessary and an unhelpful level of stress in an already stressful situation. Previously I have had to attend the Practice in person in order to make an appointment because I have not been able to speak to anyone on the phone. I find myself in the unenviable position that I cannot drive at this time so how does the Practice expect me to arrange an appointment. This follows recent eye surgery and mandatory posturing.

Unsolicited text re bowel cancer screening - there should be an option to reply that not interested in this or any other pre-emptive tests. I cannot be the only patient who'd rather not know.

Review titled Unhelpful automated telephone system
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 28 April 2023
I've been trying to speak to someone this morning but cannot seem to get through. The automated system keeps repeating itself no matter which option I chose. Then it tell me to use the on line triage - what if I had no access to a computer??? This surgery's service has gone downhill in the last 10years and it seems to be getting worse. You have to keep ringing and ringing (some of us actually have to work for a living and cannot spend copious amounts of time on the telephone). Sometimes cannot even get an appointment as they are all gone (the illness doesn't make an appointment). If you're sick today you cannot exactly tell your body not to be sick today - come back tomorrow when I can get an appointment. The surgery has expanded for worse....

Review titled Needs more staff
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 05 January 2023
huge building which has very limited parking, reception desk with check in stations which are often not working, huge queues just to book in. It takes hundreds of calls to get through to make an appointment then the appointments are difficult to get around work commitments. The staff can be dismissive, both over the phone and in person, i get they are working in less than ideal conditions as there never seems to be enough of them, to deal with the amount of people waiting. Managed to get an appt and arrived at date and time discussed to be told the appointment had been booked for another weeks time. Had someone with additional needs attending the appt I was their carer, they couldn't cope with having to wait another week as they knew the date and time was correctly written down at our end and the mistake was not ours, asked to be slotted in as need was severely urgent to be told no appts available (at 10am) for the rest of the day. Advised to come back in a week when the appt had been incorrectly made for. Asked to speak with a Dr to be advised locum Dr would not see us, patient went into meltdown in reception, extremely distressed and openly discussing their problems loudly asking (begging) for someone to help them. This was extremely frustrating and upsetting for patient myself as their carer and other people waiting hearing what was happening and wrong. Again told nothing they could do and go to A&E if so bad!! (had already attended A&E days previously this appt should have been the follow up to get referral for consultant and meds) Again receptionist advised nothing they can do no one available and Dr locum refusing to see patient. This (after 60+ minutes) was the advice, take paracetamol, or go to A&E or wait another week for the incorrect appointment date and time. Ended up back in A&E as unsafe to leave patient without medical assistance, A&E shocked and disgusted at treatment of patient by Millcroft. Patient went to incorrect appt a week later to be told they need referal to other agencies to help with needs and advised by Dr (looking on google) that they are not sure what is going on with patients health and unsure where to signpost them?!? I could have accessed google myself from home!! Dr very apologetic about treatment of patient but also kept forgetting what patient had said and mis quoting about what had happened the week previous. once we had discussed what happened the Dr had little time to discuss what was going on with patients health and also googling what the symptoms they have could be, then informed patient, there are lots of people waiting, must get on as they have lots to see and they will have a think and come back to us. That was 5 weeks ago. So far had one letter from a service saying they do not deal with patients age category and go back to Dr for further help!!!! - I'm not sure we have the time or patience for that, here's to another few hundred phone calls to try and get another appointment.
