Review titled Positive experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Jayne Brooksbank - Posted on 21 February 2025
Telephone for appointment on behalf of my mum was able to schedule a call back - really useful. Within 20mins reception rang back didn't get her name. Very polite filled out a triage form confirmed I had permission to act on my mums behalf. Advised would be called back did I have a specific time. Approx 50 mins later triage nurse contacted me all necessary checks to confirm my identity. Advised appointment necessary. Booked for 15.50 same day. Seen by Dr really nice very thorough concerned about some of her baseline observations preferred if we attended hospital rang through and we got appointment for same day assessment. Offered ambulance but happy to make our own way. My mum was treated with respect and dignity and her needs considered. The Doctor was right to refer on not the outcome we expected. Moving forward my mum has a plan of care and fingers crossed a good outcome

Review titled Awful communication leaving people in pain
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 20 February 2025
Absolutely dreadful. My 15 year old son had a scan in November, and due to incompetent communication between the doctors and the hospital, we're still having to wait to find out results. Finally received a request to book an appointment to hear the results in person, in a month’s time!! He's now really worried due to having to come in in-person and feels like it may be bad news, and he's got GCSEs coming up in a matter of weeks. He's 15!! I cannot believe that a quick phone call has to wait that amount of time, and if it is bad news, how can a child (or anyone!) be made to wait that long before being able to move forward and look for any kind of treatment or anything?? If it is bad news and he's waited this long to find out, due to incompetency between doctors and the hospital, I will be seeking legal action. It’s not the first time this has happened. I have had to wait for a scan myself and ended up in A&E, only to be told I had missed the scan. I missed it because Millcroft Medical Centre didn’t inform me of a scan being booked. You’re messing with people’s lives and it’s beyond unacceptable.

Review titled Quick Response & Treatment
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Lauren - Posted on 16 January 2025
Contacted Millcroft for some help as I had a chest infection, I had tried at home remedies which hadn’t helped it. Within an hour of me submitting a request with them they called me and asked if I could get there in 30 minutes to see the doctor. Doctor very helpful and nice. Prescribed antibiotics to the pharmacy downstairs. So within 2 hours from putting in my request, I had been contacted to book in an appointment, been seen by the doctor and had my prescription. This isn’t always the experience I’ve had from GPs, here and at other surgery’s, but I thought this was a good patient experience.

Review titled An unprofessional doctor who ignores the patient's symptoms
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 30 December 2024
For three years I started getting sick regularly and for six months I have been sick all the time. I am sick for two weeks, I feel better for a week and then I get infections again. My condition worsens each time. On top of that I have allergies and my immune system is low so I get all infections as soon as I come into contact with a sick person. The doctor I visited today did not want to listen to the end about my health problem at all and just laughed mockingly at me saying that it was normal. For me it is not normal to be sick all the time. Each case is different and even though there is a virus, the person should be more concerned about it and given advice on what to take to improve their health rather than sending them away empty-handed. How long can you go on paracetamol and ibuprofen. My stomach is giving up on me because these antipyretic and painkillers hurt so much that the pain makes me want to vomit. We pay so much money to the NHS and the doctors are not helpful in any way. Not only do we have to sit in the waiting room for hours, but such a doctor will only raise your blood pressure by telling you something different than what you tell me is wrong with you. If people did not need medical help, they would not want to go to the doctor, but if they ask for a consultation, it means that they need this help because they are no longer able to help themselves. I went to the doctor because I have a fever, a suffocating cough and my ear started to hurt and I have swollen lymph nodes on the same side as my ear and the doctor said it was a common virus. So I asked him why my ear hurts and he said he had no idea. This doctor's approach is simply absurd. A professional doctor should do everything to help the patient and not laugh at them in their face and trivialize everything they say to them. Doctors do not realize that if everyone treats themselves and takes the wrong medicines and does not get treatment, patients will have greater health problems. Then the heart will start to fail and such people can even die from choosing the wrong medicines. I have someone to live for and I really would like to live a long time and be able to work normally, but at the moment it is impossible.

Review titled Left to suffer
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Sarah - Posted on 10 October 2024
I’ve had sinusitis for about a year and sometimes can’t handle how poorly it makes me feel. Contacted Millcroft last month, sent to pharmacy who were great, gave antibiotics but still got the infection. Contacted the surgery to be sent a message that they will be in touch to offer an appointment. Someone triaged these and apparently it’s not important that I’ve suffered so long already. Contacted again to say I need an appointment in the next couple of days. Not hopeful of a decent response. I’ve actually stopped contacting the gp until I can’t cope as they make me feel like I’m lying. This bad bout of sinusitis started a week ago but try to wait it out.

Review titled A&E Visit
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Peter Bennett - Posted on 25 October 2024
Hi Millcroft Team, I think you good people do a great job, I have no complaint you look after me well. I do have a suggestion based on something that happend to me over the last couple of days. I had a face to face appointment with a Doctor on Wednesday afternoon. When she examined me I was told to go immediately to A&E by her. I did so and spent 14.5 hours waiting there before I was seen. I was told at the Hospital Reception, Streaming and Triage that if the Practice Doctor had sent me with a brief letter explaining why they sent me and what they wanted to happen. Then I could have skipped Streaming and Triage knocking 6 hours off the time I had to wait. I thought this worth mentioning so it could shorten the waiting time for patients in the future. Please give us a letter Doctors. Keep up the good work Thankyou.

Review titled Who is answering the phone?
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Joanne - Posted on 04 July 2024
Today 4/7 I was on hold for in excess of 1 hour trying to get through to reception, for 30 mins of this I didn’t move from position 6. I have to call to book blood tests for medication and also a B12 injection. In addition my HRT has still not been added to my repeat prescription so I need to speak to someone to order this. This was the third time today I called, as on both previous occasions the call was disconnected as too busy!!! I also need to stress that I made the call at 4pm! Is this really considered service! In addition the waiting music is horrendous and after, so far, in excess of 60 minutes of waiting, I have a horrendous headache!!!

Review titled Not a great doctor's
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by MR MATTHEW CLEAVER - Posted on 04 July 2024
I've been with millcroft since 2015 and the last couple of years have been questionable, and just lately I'm chasing my prescription week after week, constantly on hold, I feel fobbed off evreytime I speak to some one on the desk, and after saying it's urgent, they still prescribe the wrong strength, it's causing me distress, they say their to help but i feel let down. It should be straightforward. I contacted the doctors on 04/07/2024 and yet again waiting on my medication to be sorted.
