I attended the surgery this morning for a contraceptive coil fit. I was quite nervous about the procedure initially. The doctor doing the procedure explained things really well, and was so efficient. [did my smear at the same time]. The nurse assisting her did a great job at telling me what was coming up next, so I knew exactly what to expect, which put me completely at ease. What can be an unpleasant experience for some, was calm and pain free, and I couldn't have wanted better care.

Cannot book appointments online unless you are looking for a flu jab or smear test. No-one answers the phone to give you an appointment. Sat at position 1 in the queue for 30 minutes before I gave up. In the rest of the world I can book appointments online whether it be restaurants, barbers, MOT’s but not at New Road Surgery where you can only get an appointment if you phone between 8am and 805am in a leap year when there is a full moon. Surgery lives in the dark ages.

Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry that you are experiencing problems with our service provision. Online appointment booking, including for doctors appointments, is available both on the day at 8.30am and 2pm and up to 2 weeks ahead. However, the appointments do get booked very quickly by both online users and patients phoning into the surgery. If you do need an urgent on the day appointment but cannot book this online, please do phone us as we will always try to see medically urgent cases the same day. If you have a non-urgent need then please complete an Online Consultation which will be reviewed within 48 hours. You can find the Online Consultations button on the Appointments page of our website. If you have further feedback or would like to have your say on our service provision then please consider coming to our next Patient Participation Group meeting. I have been with this practice for over 30 years. Despite times changing (especially with the recent pandemic) I have found the Doctors to be extremely helpful and available . I have had many health issues recently and during a time where GP’s are getting a bad press, I’ve found this practice to be nothing but wonderful. The Nursing staff are also up there alongside as the Reception staff (who are nothing but helpful) . We are very lucky to have New Road Surgery, they are a credit to General Practice.
