My elderly father had his Cather removed yesterday and the Dr told him if he needed it put back in to ring the surgery which i did at 4.45 and the receptionist said Dr would phone back , but at 5.15 i phoned again and the receptionist said that she could see the dr hadn't phoned and would talk to him she then came back to the phone and said we would have to take him to A&E really but the week before we had such a good serive from the nurse we just though it would be just as good from the DR how wrong where we .

I am leaving this review after an incredibly frustrating appointment with this Drs surgery today. My baby was due to have his 12 month jabs and admittedly the last handful of appointments did not go ahead due to him having a temperature and one being staff sickness. After being told the jabs could not go ahead last week as scheduled, I rebooked his appointment in person at the receptionist desk for today. I have turned up to the drs this morning to find that no such record of this appointment exists and they couldn't carry out the immunisations. I am so disappointed as i don't understand how this appointment wasn't on the system despite my booking in person. I had not only rearranged my work commitments to attend this appointment today but more importantly my baby has to wait another week for his already overdue jabs due to this mishap that has happened. There really needs to be more members of staff on hand to be able to carry out immunisations in situations like this. Not great and I am really disappointed and now concerned that these immunisations are delayed again!

Yesterday I had an appointment with the clinical pharmacist who gave me time to talk, and she listen to answered all my queries brilliant service

Having had good service in the past I have to say things have gone seriously downhill. The practice seems muddled with reception taking over 40 minutes to answer, and it’s almost impossible to see a doctor now as they seem to have cut their hours down. The pharmacy is terrible - it’s now 2-3 weeks from ordering before a prescription is ready and even then you have to go in and press them and then it’s prescribed while you wait (ie not ready before). The queues at the pharmacy window are sometimes 6-8 people+ and they can never seem to find the prescription so you have to wait and watch the same drama unfold the same way for each person in front. If they put some extra hours in to catch up it wouldn’t seem nearly so disorganised but instead they’ve reduced the pharmacy phone line down to only 2 hours a day so for many the only option is to go there - more journeys and more time wasted face to face. We wish they would sort themselves out but it just seems to be getting worse all the time.

I collect my prescriptions from Newport Pharmacy, however on the last three occasions my husband's prescription has been available on time while mine has not been received. I called the dispensary today and asked about the reasons for the delay apparently because I am a dispensing patient the prescription may get caught up with the surgery ones, I tried to say that my husband is also a dispensing patient but his worked fine no interest was expressed in this point of view merely a repetition that it was printed out but neither the pharmacy or the surgery had it the pharmacist kindly gave me an emergency supply until the form was received. The only option provided was to return to collecting my drugs from the surgery. I am not used to such dismissive from the surgery staff.
