Review titled Getting face to face appointments
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Samantha Feltham - Posted on 13 August 2024
I had an appointment today at 1.15 which I had made 2 weeks ago online. I was exactly 5 mins late unfortunately. I had called the surgery at 1.10 to say I would be late but as it was during the reception staffs lunch break there was only the out of hours service available. I apologised and tried to say I was going to be 5 minutes late but it wasn’t acknowledged. On arriving at the surgery I couldn’t check in as I was late. It says see reception but there was a sign saying they were closed. I waited but there was no one at all to speak to. There was one other person in the surgery waiting room who was seeing the dr i was due to see. The dr was running late. I waited for half an hour but no one appeared who I could speak to ask anything. The patient before me did not reappear during that time. The receptionists were in their office on their lunch. Would it not be sensible to stagger lunch breaks so that the reception is still manned as obviously there was a dr still working? It’s near on impossible to get a drs appointment and no online consultations available. The dr was running late so surely being 5 mins late would have been fine?

Review titled So Impressive!
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Samantha Ashford - Posted on 17 July 2024
Recently I submitted an Econsult regarding an issue that had been troubling me for a while and within a few hours I received a call from one of the team inviting me down to the surgery for an examination within the hour! I felt so looked after and was so impressed with the prompt and kind service I received. Many thanks, it was so appreciated.

Review titled No appointment availability
Rated 1 star out of 5

I tried to book a non urgent GP appointment 7 times over 3 days. Each time I phoned, I was informed all appointments for 2 weeks time were booked. I phoned at 8am and was 16th in line! I then tried at various other times. I asked receptionists the best time to call for an appointment and was told they were not allowed to say. Getting a GP appointment isn't easy with this surgery. It's 'frustrating' and 'stressful'. It's not good enough.

Fantastic service this morning for an urgent issue. I was seen extremely quickly by a very kind urgent care who assessed and prescribed some medication for me. I was able to collect this from my preferred surgery and start the medication quickly. Thank you

Review titled Always there when I need them
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Angela H - Posted on 02 August 2023
I have been registered here since moving to the village 7 years ago. I have always experienced fantastic service. I've had to have multiple visits this year for a reoccurring ear infection, I've had emergency appointments as I have needed them and every member of staff from the reception team to medical have taken the time to listen my concerns and have arranged support accordingly. They are a great team, thank you to them all.

Review titled My previous review was taken seriously
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Susan Musselwhite - Posted on 12 April 2023
Following my previous negative review, I was given a cancellation appointment this afternoon. The doctor was extremely thorough and didn’t rush me at all. I was able to discuss the problems concerning me mentioned in my previous review and a very acceptable outcome was achieved. Thank you.

Review titled Unable to get an appointment
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Susan Musselwhite - Posted on 06 April 2023
I’ve been with this practice since it opened and only recently since passing 70, have a needed to use its services more frequently. I really need advise re medication and a chronic neck pain, but cannot get to speak to a doctor. My prescription was sent via text so I was unable to ask specific questions. I’ve been told by the receptionist to use e-consult or go on line at 1 pm daily to book my own appointment, which are all gone. It seems if you’re over 70 you don’t matter anymore. It seems now that I’ll have to go on holiday still concerned about my medication. I certainly wouldn’t recommend this surgery.

Review titled I’m just not important!
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 27 February 2023
I hate to say but I just don’t feel the surgery cares about me or whether I receive the appropriate treatment. I’ve tried using the correct process (eConsult) to get medical advice twice but both times I’ve had encountered a total failure by the system. It’s very upsetting when you wait weeks for help but it never comes. EConsult seems to be the way to communicate with my GP & when I expect a telephone call to discuss the problem I discover this isn’t what happens but the GP uses this time to review the request. Whatever happened to speaking to the patient?? I’ve reached a point of total no confidence which will probably mean I will have to try another surgery despite having been at this surgery for 35 years. I completely understand the pressure on the service but I can’t continue like this.

Review titled Desperate and despairing
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 12 March 2023
I have tried and tried to get help from this surgery. If I call I either get cut off after a very long wait or get through to be told there are no bookable appointments. They referred me to econsult (again) I wrote a very detailed description of the awful pain and issues I am experiencing with a condition I have (again) I received a message saying the doctor would contact me on a particular date (15 days away!) I had already waited a day for this response…so this would be 16 days from econsult to GP contact!! On the day of GP contact I waited all day, only to receive a text 20 minutes before they close from the GP “unfortunately I don’t think I will be able to offer much via econsult and would suggest you contact us at reception or via the website to book an appointment.” Was this a joke?!? I cried then, while searching through the website and related apps to book an appointment…nope, that’s not possible either, has anyone told the doctors this?? I then tried to call to ask that very question, and try again to get some help and support but guess what? With 10 minutes still to go before they close…the phone just rang and rang…presumably unplugged as there was no message and no options to choose from. The website and apps say there are no appointments bookable online, if I call there are no appointments if I do an econsult I get to wait over two weeks to be told by text to make an appointment. If I do speak to them, there are no appointments. Part of what I told the GP in the econsult is that I don’t know if I can cope anymore and this is the response I get from my GP surgery?? Shocking, appalling, disgraceful, depressing, upsetting….I could go on. How can I get support from my GP??

Dear Patient, I am extremely sorry to read that you felt unsupported in trying to contact us regarding making an appointment. I also apologise for the delayed response. Please be reassured that since your experience in February we have replaced our telephone system and have received very positive comments from patients who are finding it much more user friendly. We have also reviewed our appointment system and I trust that you are now finding the process much improved. If this is not the case, we do have a Patient Liaison Officer available to patients who wish to discuss concerns they may have regarding their experience of the Practice. She is available to speak to by telephone or by pre-bookable appointment. With kind regards. Claire Cairncross, Practice Manager
