  2. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I rang on Tuesday and got a same day appointment to see a doctor. She arranged blood tests and ECG on Thursday with a practice nurse, and requested a chest X-ray. Wednesday I had a call from the hospital for an X-ray on Sunday. I had a text Friday morning re my blood test results! I have been with this practice for nearly 60 years and all the doctors, pharmacists and other staff have been very helpful and get things done in a timely fashion.

  3. Review titled good practice, but unhelpful receptionist

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I rang to ask when I might be having my Covid/flu jabs as other much younger people were having theirs and I had heard nothing. I had previously been told I could have mine in October. After half an hour's wait on the phone line I was told the surgery had no Covid vaccines available and did not know when they might have any. They told me if I wanted one I would have to go into Birmingham, even though I live in Solihull. ( I think my chances of catching Covid would be greatly increased by having to get on a bus and travel miles into Birmingham!) The earliest date I could have my flu jab was two weeks away, while the cases of flu are rapidly increasing. The receptionist's attitude seemed uncaring to me. In desperation I went into another local surgery to ask if they had any vaccinations available. Their receptionist, on the other hand, couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant. They were amazed that I had been told to go to Birmingham. Although they could not offer me a vaccination, they suggested I could get one the next day at Solihull's Mell Square walk-in centre. The receptionist even rang them on my behalf to check the times! So I will have both jabs together, and have only one day to wait. Why couldn't Northbrook's receptionist simply have told me that? I could have been spared hours of stress and misery. If they didn't know about it, they should have. A very unimpressive way of dealing with elderly patients. As a result, I shall be changing to a new practice. Perhaps some further training is required in this department as I have often found certain receptionists bossy and unhelpful, although others have been good. But this was the last straw, and I feel trust has been lost.
