  1. Review titled Amazing staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Priscilla Morris - Posted on 12 November 2024

My family and I have been patients of Northumberland House Surgery for many years and are extremely grateful to all staff who have supported us through very difficult times, especially during covid when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. This was a very dark time for myself and my family. During this time I was supported by all staff, who were so kind. The receptionists always try their hardest to accommodate your requests and are so patient. My last appointment was on the 8th of November, where I was seen by one of the doctors. He has guided me through the toughest time of my life. For this I am extremely grateful to him. I feel that I have turned a corner and am moving on with a positive mindset. Something I haven't done for quite a few years. Amazing staff. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

  2. Review titled Great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I called up for an appointment and the receptionist, was extremely helpful, treating it as an emergency. I then got a call back from the nurse practitioner within the next 20 minutes and booked in to see her that afternoon. She was really kind and helpful. She prescribed me antibiotics and it was all sorted that day.

  3. Review titled Very efficient practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Returning from a holiday in North Wales, when my wife had developed a chest infection, we called in to the surgery at 1.30pm on Friday afternoon 5 April. We explained the infection and coughing to the receptionist, who informed the nurse. At around 2pm the nurse called is and arranged for wife to be examined by her at 3.50pm. She then checked my wife over, explained that it was a viral infection, and prescribed cautionary antibiotics. We collected these from Cohens pharmacy by 4.30pm that same day. Very efficient. Thanks to everyone.

  4. Review titled Great efficient practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kenneth Evans - Posted on 24 May 2024

On Sunday 5 May after an indulgent Saturday evening (I am 78 and should know better), I had a mild attack where I was 'out of it' for about 5/10 minutes. My wife and daughter witnessed it and were confident that I had not experienced a minor stroke - my voice was not slurred, my face hadn't dropped and I could raise both arms. However, we felt it prudent to be checked up, so on Tuesday 7 May I went to the surgery (Monday 6 was a bank holiday). I saw the receptionist at 9.30, the practice nurse rang me at 10.00 and then arranged for me to see a doctor at 11.00 (who checked me over - fine). Great service. Thanks to all.

I had no trouble booking an appointment, I didnt have to wait an unreasonable amount of time for an appointment. Friendly receptionist and i was seen by a lovely nurse. This is the sort of experience I am always used to at Northumberland House Surgery. Thank you!

  8. Review titled Bad phone service but great GP

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 February 2023

My son was recently very poorly in hospital and I felt he needed a follow up with the GP as I still had concerns. I was unable to even get through to the phone service or even get put in a queue which was quite distressing. I’m hoping this is a technical issue but I’m sure this can’t be right? I hope this gets changed back to the callback/queueing service soon! I finally managed to get an appointment through the 111 service. I wanted to thank the GP I saw for not only being so wonderful with my son but also recognising that I was also struggling due to the stress of the past few weeks and asked me if I was ok. He was very caring and reassured me that my son was on the right track. It’s this kind of empathy that makes a good clinician and I was very grateful for that. The GP I saw is a credit to the practice!

  9. Review titled Not even able to get through to appointments line

Rated 1 star out of 5

You currently have a phone system that cuts your patients off when they need an appointment. It simply says something along the lines of ‘your transfer to the appointments line has been unsuccessful’ How is this acceptable? I understand the system is under great demand at the moment but offering absolutely no service is surely a breach of contract? I am hopeful that it is simply technical problem, it need resolving urgently as it’s putting patients health at risk
