Review titled Great Practice and Amazing Reception Staff !
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 29 November 2023
I had an appointment today at Nuffield House Surgery, and while sitting waiting for my time, something really touched my heart and made me realise that there are still such lovely, kind and caring people out there. (Head receptionist) had really given her passion and full care in to her role while providing such professional but at the same time caring, friendly and supportive manner to every single patient that walked through that door. Watching her warmed my heart. I had a miscarriage and have mild depression due to this and seeing all this warm and caring role from the beautiful Reception staff had really brightened my day and left tears in my eyes. I really needed to see this as for such a long time I have not seen people like herself out here. How pleasantly she dealt with my queries was amusing for me to see which I really needed. This feedback is all from my heart to her and I thank her a million for making me feel in this way which I needed for such long time. We visit our GP practices for a remedy to heal our health matters, whether this is mentally or physically but seeing such love and care as soon as you walk through that door does really create a therapeutic atmosphere and this is more valuable than a prescribed medicine. This was for me today as the lovely receptionist provided beautiful care and her passion for her duty was more valuable and curing.

Review titled Experience depends on who answers your call
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 29 November 2023
I cannot predict being ill beforehand (I am not a psychic) so I miss out on the online pre-bookable appointments. I stay on the phone at 8am and get cut off multiple times as the new system says they are too busy and cut. There is no holding system like there used to be. When you do a callback option, it rings once and cuts you off. Finally if you are lucky and you get through, all appointments are taken and you are told to call 111 or go A and E. Not all symptoms require that which is wasting resources. But to have the receptionist tell you how their GP is worse and this GP is better, I never asked or even complained about it. Just wanted to ask whether I needed to wait for a call from the doctor on hospital results or I was supposed to make it myself (you are damned if you do and damned it you don't). As I have had times, they claim I should have called and chased for it as they are too busy. Then she starts telling me how the phone and appointment system works, you wasted more time on the call to me than needed. You could have spoken to at least 1 maybe 2 people if you were not trying to educate me on how the GP operates. I luckily have private care so I utilise that more than NHS but hospital appointments are through NHS hence I am restricted at times. I understand there are patients that can be unkind and appreciate it is not nice for receptionists. However, not all of patients are like that and we do not need that treatment. I would rather be enjoying my life than be stuck on a queue and talking to rude people. Trust me! That said I would not say this is the worse GP surgery as there are nice people that work in reception and as doctors. It depends who is on the receiving end of your call.

Review titled Unable to get a GP appointment
Rated 1 star out of 5
by S chapman - Posted on 13 September 2023
Both in our 70's, we are always unable to see a doctor in person as all appointments have gone by the time we have held on the phone for 25 mins or more. It is a poor state of affairs when we are are forced to ring 111 for a doctors appointment, at our own surgery, as my partner has been in pain and wanted advice. We have been referred in the past to other health professionals at Nuffield House who are always excellent, but there are times when you do need to see a doctor. You have a new website that states you can book an appointment in person. Tried to do this and was told you need to ring.

Review titled Impossible to get an appointment
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Martina O’Reilly - Posted on 28 February 2023
It is impossible to get an appointment with the surgery. You cannot prebook and are told to call at 8am. When you call you cannot even get onto the waiting line for the appointments as you are told by a recording “sorry your call cannot be completed at this time, please try again later”. Absolutely useless.

Review titled Inappropriate advice
Rated 1 star out of 5

For the second time in two months I have been told that I cannot have a rescue pack of antibiotics and steroids by the call handler at the practice. I wasn’t even asked my name. I was told I will need to see a gp for this to be given even though I explained that my respiratory consultant physician had written advising that I should have this. I was told that the practice is following nhs England policy. As a health care professional working in respiratory who often writes to gp asking for rescue packs for patients with chronic lung disease which the patients receive I am aware there isn’t such a policy. I had even discussed this at my last appointment at the practice and was told it wasn’t the case. The reason people are given rescue packs is individualised and as part of a hcp plan not on a decision of a blanket policy or at the will of the call handler. By not obliging this request it puts the patient at risk of deteriorating more than they would otherwise need to and also unnecessary hospital admissions. As a further consequence it puts extra pressure on emergency appointments and stress on the patient who is having difficulty in breathing which we all can appreciate will make the breathing problems worse. I shall now have to waste another 1-2 hours on hold tomorrow to get an appointment with the Gp for a prescription. This may prevent someone who is unwell getting to speak to the gp.

Review titled Fantastic Practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I came for my B12 injection today and the nurse that did it was very nice she also noticed some small moles on my arm that she advertised me to get looked at. We had a short chat about and and the nurse booked me an appointment for the next day. I can not thank her enough for her advice.
