Called the Monday morning and sorted with antibiotic medicine by 4pm! I have always had a good experience. I suffer from COPD and they handle my condition with expertise and empathy.

I have been with this practice since 2004 and have always found the GPs kind, caring and willing to listen. Receptionist have been variable over the years, but currently are very helpful. The big issue is access - at times it can be very difficult make an appointment to see a GP. The call back system (if you can get on the list in the first place) doesn’t really work for those of us that work full time and can’t guarantee we will be available when the GP call comes through. On-line access is extremely limited and prone to closing without notice. I fully understand the issues around the increasing local population and GP shortages, but it is such a shame that this is impacting on what used to be the best practice I have ever been registered at. I notice only one GP appears to be full-time- perhaps reviewing the ratio of full-time to part-time staff might be something that would help improve the situation. I do think the use of nurse practitioners, paramedics, associate nurses/medics etc is a really helpful initiative in supporting access. I really hope things start to improve over the coming months, so that more patients can use an otherwise excellent practice.

My son has been experiencing some severe mental health problems recently. I cannot fault the service he has received from this surgery. He had a same day appointment, was referred straight away to the crisis team and received prompt follow up from the GP. I cannot commend them enough for the care he has received, especially when I know how over stretched they are.

I called the practice Tuesday afternoon seeking clarification on what to do when I couldn’t fulfil my full prescription. The receptionist was so very helpful and explained it was best to speak to the Dr and put me on the call list for the next day. I received a call by 11am the next day, the Dr was fantastic and went above and beyond to help find a resolution to my problem.

Always polite and compassionate on reception, call back service works really well, and GP’s and other health professionals have always been brilliant.

I had problems making a booking online. Tried phoning. Hung on and on. Was informed by the recording that I was no. 1 in the queue for many minutes but, I eventually gave up. Not great service for patients who may be really ill.

Staff lovely but having nurses in bays (thé New Orchard Suite) is not idéal as it generates à lot of noise, making it difficult to hear what our nurse was saying

Having been treated at Oak Tree Health Centre for many years I have always found all sections of the practice, to be professional, knowledgeable and willing to go out of their way to give the best advice and help that is available in a friendly and supportive manner.

When I first moved to Didcot I was very impressed with this practice, you could phone at any time and be placed on a call back list, you could use the Online Consult Service 24x7 and again get a call back in a few days. Now it operates on a "same day" basis, you can only use the Online Consult between 8-9am when most working age people are either commuting to work or taking children to school and often its disabled well before 9am. If you try calling you end up in a queue and by the time you get to speak to someone all slots for that day have gone and you are told to call back the next day. The website used to be specific to the practice full of useful information and contacts, now its a generic bland NHS front page that tries to direct patients elsewhere. Complaints go unanswered. The service from this practice is beyond useless, they clearly do not care about their patients and just want to avoid dealing with them in the hope they will either just suffer in silence or go elsewhere so that the practice doesn't have to deal with them.

Dear Michael, Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately we are conscious that we cannot always keep our online portal active to contact our clinicians at all the times. The increased local population has put huge pressure on our service. Access to our portal depends on clinical capacity and like many other practices around the UK we are experiencing a severe shortage of available appointments and GP time. There are different channels to contact us: • To avoid our patients calling the practice and wait in the queue we advise to submit an e-consult online on a Monday or a Wednesday, Doctor will get in touch in 48h working hours after submitting an online consultation https://oaktreehc.webgp.com/ Please note access times to this service may vary depending on clinical capacity and patient demand. • If you problem is urgent you can give us a call, a Patient Advisor will ask you a few questions; the nature of the problem an indication of urgency, and the telephone number on which a clinician can call you back. A clinician will discuss the problem with you and decide what is needed next. The clinician will make the appointment for you if you do need to be seen; usually this is the same day, but you can ask for a later day if it is more convenient for you.
