  1. Review titled Ridiculous

Rated 1 star out of 5

It’s impossible to even get to speak to a doctor. Called at 11.30 on a Wednesday, “sorry no appointments call back tomorrow”. Called at 8:30, “rather than hold press 1 and we will call you back”. Great…… no call back. Called Friday at 8.30, over 30 in the queue. Got to number 13 and got cut off. Called back, 50 mins later got through “sorry don’t have anything today, call back Monday”! I know it’s not the receptionists fault but I was annoyed as I work and can’t be hanging on the phone forever. Eventually agreed for a paramedic to call me on Monday, fingers crossed it happens!

  2. Review titled Understaffed, over burdened, health suffering

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 February 2024

Getting an appointment at this surgery is practically impossible. They have too few GPs, and idiotic booking system that is first come first served on the day, at a time when most people are driving to work (appointments gone on 5 mins). No system of booking a time to see a GP face to face directly. Over reliance on phone appointments. The service is abysmal. If I were the local health trust I'd be dragging them over the coals for their inability to appropriately scale their staffing to the local need. I've been in pain for days and have not managed to get an appointment.

Dear patient, We are so sorry to hear that you had this experience. We are currently reviewing our appointment system and we aim to implement a new online form on the 9th of July. This new system will make it easier to book appointments and will avoid long waiting times on the phone. The quickest way to contact us with medical or administrative queries will be submitting an online request through our website or through the NHS App. By registering all requests through an online form, we will be able to prioritise and action requests quickly and fairly, ensuring you get the right level of care at the right place and the right time https://www.oaktreehc.co.uk/news/new-appointment-system Would you mind contacting the practice directly via secured form https://www.oaktreehc.co.uk/complaint-form and mark it for the attention of the practice manager so that we can try and learn from this experience and address any concerns that you may have and also improve things for future patients. Telephone line opens at 08:30. Phoned at 08:35 today and all appointments were taken for the day. This surgery used to be easy to interact with. Not so since Covid. Difficult to get an appointment, yet when you do, you find a near empty waiting room.

Trying to get an appointment is near impossible. Calling at 8:30 and waiting on the phone just to be told the appointments are full. E-consult is barely ever on and when it is it’s a case of typing as quickly as possible as the system stops when the allocation is full. Very soon people will have illnesses/diseases that will go undiagnosed and treated. Please make appointments more accessible especially with e-consult. People also clog up phone lines calling for test results, why can’t we get these online, this way? And the phone back system, why’s that been turned off too?

  5. Review titled What is happening??

Rated 1 star out of 5

I am still on hold 1 hour and 10 minutes and I am caller number 3 (listening to this painful ‘music’) after I first rang the surgery at 8:30; my daughter tried yesterday and it took 50 minutes to be told there were no doctor calls available so phone today - (she is told the doctor must speak to her about her results - the tests were 3 weeks ago almost). She is in college now so can’t call herself! This is really not acceptable.

  6. Review titled Ring. Ring. Anybody there?

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 January 2024

I rang at 8:30 on the dot and waited for 38 mins and 19 sec, but no answer at all. I, who just have a back pain which have kept me awake for several nights and only have to taste acid coming up from my stomach, and who's now feeling generally unwell resulting from the compound of pain, sleep deprivation and stomach irritation, might survive after some time of suffering. But others might not. This is a disgusting level of service which might cost lives in the end by discouraging people from calling in and subsequently let the illness grow bigger & more serious. Can this really happen in the so called advanced country?

  7. Review titled Horrible disrespectful attitude unqualified receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 June 2024

Extremely rude and unprofessional receptionist I have been told by the doctor at 3am in the morning, I need to go and put my daughter’s name on the call list as doctors need to examine her, went at 8:30am after being awaking up in last 3 weeks by 7 years old not feeling well. After been told the have spaces on the call list. The recipient rudely after raising her eyebrows no notes from 111 without looking. I offered to show her my phone, she didn’t even look to check on her screen and I asked if she can put her name she refused and shout it very loudly call 111 again. I called them they contacted them again. By 10 had a phone call and Doctor saw my daughter wrote antibiotics and cream for infection too. Horrible attitude, you can tell the receptionist not on the right standards of qualifications or training should be. Rudeness, disrespectful and not helpful at all. Not for first time, and it’s not just me.

  10. Review titled poor e-consult service

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by MR ANDREW G COOPER - Posted on 13 November 2023

I attempted to use e-consult at the Oak Tree Health Centre in tyne Avenue Didcot on the 13th November to ask what to do about the skin tag just below my left eye. However, I discovered that there is no E-consult service at the Oak Tree Health Centre during the month of November..and getting in touch with the surgery any other way is at best avarage at worst next to impossible and the service is getting worse. pretty soon finding a good med centre in Didcot will be impossible and moving to another health centre in our area is also imposible due to lack of places for a a town already bulging at the seams with people and lack of services to cover the expanding residents in Didcot.

Dear Mr Cooper, Thank you for your feedback. I would like to apologise for you having to contact us in such a way with this matter. We do make every effort to provide the very best service to all our patients, whose wellbeing is our primary concern. Unfortunately due to staff shortages, we are limited on capacity for GP appointments and administration tasks and we are unable to provide access via e-consult at the moment. The increased local population has put huge pressure on our admin and clinical staff. We are conscious that we cannot always ensure that patients who called us requesting a GP appointment can talk to a GP on the day that they called. If you problem is urgent you can give us a call, a Patient Advisor will ask you a few questions; the nature of the problem an indication of urgency, and the telephone number on which a clinician can call you back. A clinician will discuss the problem with you and decide what is needed next. We understand the current lack of capacity is extremely frustrating for patients, our staff are very unhappy about the situation too. We continue to recruit new clinical staff – nurses, paramedics, clinical pharmacists but with more GPs leaving the NHS, the situation is not expected to improve for some time. Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback with us.
