  1. Review titled Lack of care

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 30 January 2024

This surgery used to be amazing, however, in recent months I personally have seen a decline in level of care. Their procedure used to be ring between 8am and 11am, you're now calling up to 100 times from 8am, getting through maybe around or just before 9am and being told lists have closed, this has happened on numerous ocassiond now , as well as system problems with phone lines, even with a persistent problem you're banging your head against a wall with the practice, even if you are requesting a familiar Gp you're not getting to speak to one, there is no continuity anymore here, I was told by one GP to go to A&E with my problem, I spent over 9 hours there and was told my GP should be making the referrals and not them. Even when you put a written complaint in, don't expect contact from anyone, 2 weeks on and there's still no contact after me chasing it up on numerous ocassions as I am still suffering with the same problem and getting nowhere. I used to love this surgery and the level of care, how you used to see the same GP's and now even though you are requesting to speak to one you know it rarely happens. I seen a GP for my child last week , the language barrier between us did cause some issues and he ended up actually arguing with me, which was unprofessional. Its such a shame as there are wonderful GP's there, it's a shame you don't get to see or speak to them lately , more than often they only take emergencies by 9am , even though you're trying to get through since the lines opened, time after time. It really is a shame as this used to be an amazing surgery.

Used Patchs online for 1st time. After I submitted my query, I had an immediate text back to say doctor would ring next morning. Just answered my phone at 8.15am and spoke to doctor. Query resolved. Thank you, Oakvale

  4. Review titled Dreadful Practice - Shocking attitude

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 October 2023

I moved to Childwall in 2020 so only been under Oakvale practice for 3 years, I never had such poor service or being treated with such bad attitudes when raised my concerns around treatment recommendations towards my autistic daughter plus trying to get an appointment is impossible, the doctors are caring but not that great in relation to knowledge of my daughters needs, had several concerns but where raised with practice management and I cant put in to work how frustrating it is to be talked down to when it is relating to my daughters care, improvements needed urgently

I have a insect bite on my ankle that’s very swollen and red for two days tried to get an appointment but after an hour & a half I gave up trying ,went to pharmacy and asked chemist there opinion they said antibiotics so I went to the receptionist only to be told no appointments go to walk in centre or try in the morning! I explained that I can not go to walk in centre as I have a severely disabled person at home who needs care still same response just ring in the. Morning no appointments left I will be going in to surgery at 8 am to get an appointment this is appalling service by oak vale it would take 5 mins to sort out my problem no wonder carers like myself feel like no one cares !

  6. Review titled Excellent Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Graeme R Jones - Posted on 01 August 2023

I have been with this practice for over 8 years now. I have always received excellent care from the Doctors and Practice Nurses. Oakvale compares well with some less than satisfactory surgeries in Liverpool I have experienced. Yes it can be difficult to get through but sadly this is the experience everywhere nowadays.

  7. Review titled Terrible Practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

We can never get an appointment for our young children (under 3) at this practice. They tell you to ring at 8 am but when you do you can never get through. You then ring up later and ask if you can book for next week and they state they only do same day appointments that you can never get as it's always engaged at 8 am. They then recommend that you go to the reception at 8 for an appointment that day, what about people who have jobs and can't go there at that time? The My GP app only gives telephone consultations for 2/3 weeks in advance so if you need an appointment sooner you are stuck. The online e - consult is closed most of the time you go on the website so you must have to try and log an enquiry at midnight or in the middle of the night to have any luck. It is ridiculous that it is so difficult to book an appointment and when you do geth through to them later in the day the receptionists are always unhelpful.

  8. Review titled Good experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Danny - Posted on 25 May 2023

I recently attended the doctors due to some health issues. I felt listened to and supported. The GP came up with a plan of treatment which he discussed with me and asked my opinion on. He also explained the follow up process and made me feel comfortable and reassured. I left the surgery feeling like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Thank you.

  9. Review titled Appointment Impossible.

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have been trying to get an appointment for over 10 days, good job my condition is not serious, rang everyday at 8am as advised engaged on odd occasion I get someone to answer all slots are gone, they I am usually advised to go to e consultation, well let me tell you again rude receptionist your on line is never working, out of shear frustration I have tried to call over the last 2 evening after work to speak to the manager both times at just past 5pm on both occasions it states the surgery is closed via a voice message and your website states your open to 6.30pm on both days, your are paid for each patient you have in your practice regardless if if you see them or not so this explains why your advertising to take on more patients and I cant get an appointment for such a period, shocking practice, needs looking in to

We are sorry you did not get an appointment on this occasion. We are pleased to say we have recently increased the number of e consultations which is helping patients. Unfortunately, the demand for appointments is a problem for GP surgeries across the country and is something the government is looking to address. Practice closing times is the same for all surgeries in Liverpool, which is 6.30pm Monday - Friday, apart from once a month when all Liverpool practices are authorised to close at 12pm for training and education purposes. We would like to assure you, the message is an automated one and is operated by iMerseyside, the IT department within Liverpool Place, they initiate the message only when the practice is closed.

  10. Review titled Mental health nurse

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 April 2023

I have been under their mental health nurse for sometime he has been very helpful in early February I had an appointment cancelled due to their mental health nurse being off sick, ok that's fine it has now been nearly 3 months since I have had an appointment I ring Oakvale every 2 weeks to see if he is back in for an appointment, he is still off which is not the issue but I am very reliant on NHS mental health services but I called today and have been informed no more appointments as he has been dismissed I know things happen in life but this nearly 3 months no other alternative options given to myself by an often rude receptionist the call trained coordinators clearly not very well trained I am now in a difficult situation no support no alternatives given why not be just honest 2 months ago I now have to go through getting to know a new person when I find an appointment, totally shocking

We are pleased you have found our in-house mental health services useful. Many of our patients like you, have benefited from the service which most other practices do not have. Unfortunately, there may be times when we are unable to offer mental health appointments for reasons beyond our control, such as sickness, which we apologise for. When this happens, patients are encouraged to request an appointment with a GP who will be happy to consult with them regarding their mental health.
