    They are trying to reduce their official wait times by telling you there are no appointments available today - go elsewhere. On top of this the receptionists are plain rude. Quite frankly I may as well not have a registered GP - they have never once been able to help me.

    Can someone please explain how the appointment system is supposed to work. I don't understand why appointments are 'released' each day, rather than being able to book in advance. It means rather than me waiting three weeks until the next available appointment, I'm just in limbo, unsure when I'm going to be able to book one, and spending more and more time either on the phone or on the app. I'd like to know as at the moment it feels like it's a way of reducing wait time statistics by shifting the wait time off the books of the surgery and in to the community where it can't be measured and therefore doesn't impact the surgery's performance review.

    I want to the walk in center at Oakham Hospital ran by Oakham MP and and I want to say a massive thank you. I turned up on the day no appointment spoke the the gentleman on reception and he booked me in. I only waited 5mins till I was seen. A new doctor who has only been there 6 weeks was amazing. He prescribed me medication sent it over and it was ready for me straight away. The doctor examined my wrist did some tests , informed me of a physio app and got a wrist support. He was so helpful and very knowledgeable. I can’t remember his name but want to do a massive thank you.

    I have found my experience with Oakham Medical Practice to be supportive and professional. The receptionists, medical secretaries and doctors are friendly and efficient. They return calls and have kept me updated on progress.

    Getting an appointment is extremely difficult in the surgery, over the phone and even worse online. When you get an appointment they don’t actually tend to your medical complaint and you do not hear back from any tests they do arrange for you. Extremely frustrating unhelpful staff and service.

    Unable to ever get an appointment! Was on hold for over 3 hours today, called at 8:30am and kept getting to the front of the queue call was answered and promptly hung up on. This happened 3 times! Would go to another practice but they have a monopoly as the only one in Oakham.

    Having seen many negative views on Oakham I just want to say how brilliant I have personally found them both today and some six months ago when I had a different problem. Despite the restraints of the system I have found everyone I've spoken to be caring and extremely helpful and on both my recent incidents they have gone above and beyond to sort me out. Many many thanks and please keep up the good work.

    I had a very unhelpful phone discussion with a GP whom I have never met and who knew little of my history. When I persisted in asking why I could not have a face-to-face appointment with a GP who knows at least something of me I was in effect told that was a matter of Oakham Medical Practice policy and to mind my own business. I note, reading through these reviews, that the practice manager does not bother to answer many of them - there's an indication of the arrogance that rules at this mediocre set-up.

    I accessed the online consultation service and it was amazing. Within a couple of days I had a response and a face to face appointment arranged. They are doing a great job within a creaking health system and we all should recognise this and appreciate the service they provide.

    Concerned as put in my online request for a repeat prescription and on collecting one item was missing. This item was one that seriously helps my pain. I checked my online order and it said my item was needing confirmation from the surgeries pharmacist. I actually managed to get though to the surgery and explained to the receptionist, who was very helpful and pleasant about the error, she kindly said she would get it sorted. This was on Friday 25th November. On Monday the 28th, late afternoon I received a text message that the surgery had stopped this particular item- not a phone call but a text message! I had a sleepless night as was very concerned about this and managed to get a telephone appointment this morning, the 29th , spoke to the GP and thankfully she explained the reason and even more thankfully has reinstated the item along with an explanation. I really feel that a telephone explanation would have saved me a lot of worry rather than a text message!
