Avoid being a patient here at all costs. The system they have is diabolical. Long term (30 years maybe) patient with multiple chronic conditions unable to be seen by GP because not deemed serious enough?! Taken nearly 6 weeks just to get a phone review for medication that can prolong or shorten life. Then no one makes the call. Make it make sense! Wasn’t even with the GP as other problem patient needed help with obviously didn’t rate highly enough on triage criteria. Duty of care to patients is horrendous. If you can’t manage the volume of patients you have, advise them to attend another practice. Not just put them back into a queuing system and hope someone else with deals with it.

Dear Anonymous, I sincerely apologise on behalf of the Practice that you had such a negative experience when contacting us. I would appreciate it if you could e-mail me directly on cmicb-cheshire.oakwoodmanagers@nhs.net with your information so I can investigate this as soon as possible. The GP reviews all medical requests on the same day alongside patient's clinical records and I can reassure you that it is not the case that patients are not deemed 'serious enough' during this process. All decisions are made based on clinical criteria and if patients are concerned after this they can contact us directly. It should always be the case that patients are told who their appointment is with, and if the GP advises that it should be with someone who is not them it should be made clear; I apologise that this did not happen in this instance. I also apologise that you did not receive the call when you were told you would. I am concerned that you were waiting so long as this should not be the case, and patients are certainly never 'replaced' after their appointment has been booked. We don't have a queuing system in general as all medical requests are reviewed the same day by the GP, however it can take up to 48 hours for the team to contact you directly; I apologise if this was not made clear to you. I hope that you make contact with me directly so that I can look into this further for you, and I apologise that the level of care you experienced was not at the level we would expect on this occasion. I'm currently off sick with work related stress. When I've been off with this before, the practice didn't have the occupational therapists, so this was a new process for me. I've had about 3 appointments with one of the therapists here, and I just wanted to share how amazing she's been. She's been so understanding and helpful. I hope this gets fed back to the practice manager, as she has been so fantastic at every step. I can't praise her enough!

I have on just registered with Oakwood in the last 5 days having been de-registered from a previous practice of some 70 years. My first experience with Oakwood has been excellent. All the staff and doctors were first class, extremely helpful and very supportive. Thank you for your swift action and professionalism regarding my appointment today.

Receptionist who I had spoken to was very rude and inconsiderate when dealinh with people! A course in customer service needs recommending as the way she speaks to people is awful and I can guarantee that I will not be the first or last that will experience it

After seeing the doctor who was very thorough l had tests done then l was offered a telephone consultation in two weeks time which saves me travelling back and to l am thoroughly satisfied with the my experience which was very efficient so far. Everyone was extremely polite and helpful

Tried to contact to get an appointment for my daughter and the receptionist was incredibly rude not only over the phone but face to face also. I was unable to access the online form due to technical issues and I was belittled and spoken down to and was refused to be able to make an appointment over the phone

Thank you for taking the time to write this review and I apologise that you had a negative experience at the surgery. My name is Laura Clare and I am the Practice Manager for Oakwood Medical Centre. I would appreciate it if you could let me have some more details so I can investigate further (name, date and time of contact etc). My e-mail address is cmicb-cheshire.oakwoodmanagers@nhs.net. We would never want patients to experience rudeness and we are here to support patients with their online access. We have a drop-in session every Monday 5-6pm where local students help support patients to get online via the NHS app or show them how to use the online triage system, so you may find that useful. If patients cannot use the system or have no internet access our Staff can complete the forms with you whilst you are in Practice or via the telephone, which should have been offered to you when you spoke to the member of staff. All of our calls are recorded now, so if I have your date/time of call and number (via e-mail) I can provide more specific feedback to the team. I was a bit reluctant to move to this surgery after being de registered at another local surgery from the result of moving house. However even in the current climate of the NHS I have always been able to get a face to face appointment when I have needed. Staff and drs are always friendly and professional and there is nothing I would be too embarrassed to say

I lined up in the morning for an appointment. I was 4th in the queue and was told that there were no appointments left. I then saw that the person waiting after me was offered an appointment.

I cannot recommend this GP practice enough. My experience today, and on a busy Monday too, meant I telephoned to ask for some advice and got a return call from the Gp within an hour and then a face to face appointment ½ an hour later, blood tests booked for tomorrow and a scan to be arranged. This is the NHS at its best. the reception staff are always helpful, the nurse team professional and the Dr's kind and thorough. All of this during a very busy time with resources hard to come by. Well done to everyone.
