Review titled Outstanding Practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 27 March 2025
Had an appointment at Old Farm Surgery to discuss a chest x-ray and a sputum specimen I had provided. Happy to say that all appears normal which is a huge relief. After discussing with the doctor my mental health issues (I have been suffering quite a bit in recent months) the doctor made adjustments to anti depressants and pointed me to some very useful topics available on the website. The doctor also printed off some information for me to have a read once I got back home over a cuppa. I had already made arrangements to see the practice social prescriber in a weeks time.

I've recently been to old farm surgery once to see a doctor with quite a few medical issues I found him to be one of the kindness caring and most of all very professional doctors I've ever seen after my visit it's the first time in many years feeling good about myself when I left the practice I later went for an asthma review with a nurse once again first and foremost was kind and caring and very professional and put .e on a new asthma pump which I hope will improve my breathing it is a practice with all concerned that I would highly recommend to anyone it's very reassuring to my wife and myself that we are the patients off this great team led by the head of the practice.

Review titled Exceptional practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Michael taylor - Posted on 17 December 2024
With the published difficulties of NHS practices it never fails to amaze me just how exceptionally good my GP is. It is very rare that I can not get an appointment the sane day (this has happened only once in 3 yesrs). All of the staff are very friendly, and professional. Nothing is ever a problem to them both doctors and nurses. On one occasion (having been discharged from hospital to early) I was to ill to go to the doctor and twenty minutes later a doctor was at my home and she arranged for me to be immediately back to the hospital. Considering the pressures the NHS is under I cannot fault the service I receive from this practice. The only complaint I used to have was the frequent lengthy wait on the phone. However even this has now been dealt with by introducing a recall service, which keeps your place in the queue. I believe this practice could be used as a model for others to follow.

Review titled friendly practice with competent staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Millie rolfe - Posted on 13 November 2024
Have been attending old farm surgery since childhood, drs and nurses competent, friendly and reassuring. Issues with being up early enough to book phone calls dues to chronic fatigue only issue ever encountered, and can't blame surgery for an NHS policy, never had any reason to complain about standard of care. Seen today for post surgery checkup on previously infected wound went smoothly, nurse did great job explaining process and next steps, helped reassure that recovery would happen and why she was doing what she was.

Review titled Nursing staff at Old Farm Surgery Paignton
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Janet Yellop - Posted on 09 November 2024
I needed dressing for a infected abscess removed by Torbay Hospital. I went to Old Farm Surgery in Paignton every 3 days for about 3-4 weeks, the practice nurses were very kind, helpful and very good at their job. They cared for my wound very professionally and they were excellent at what they had to do. While doing their job they were helpful and kind and we chatted about different things whilst they did what they needed to do for me. Should I ever have to go to see them again I would be very happy to do so.

Review titled Personal attention is excellent
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Keith Maer - Posted on 15 October 2024
I have been so impressed with the care and attention of every one in this surgery. The nurses that I have seen have exceeded my expectations. For example, I went for a routine flu jab and I mentioned the blood pressure monitoring that I had been doing. I was then given a further blood and urine test and the results of that could be read on my app within 24 hours. A week later I received a follow up phone call to ensure that I could access and understand the test results. This is typical of the care and support that this surgery provides. Thank you.

I had a phone call back appointment with Dr Thomas today. She is truly very special. She is totally in command. Her explanations were outstanding. Looking at several options with me. She gave me great respect. Her jolly chaisma is heart warming and also a great pick me up. Thank you very much Doctor Thomas.

Just want to say thank you to the receptionist, nurse and lovely lady Dr who saw my husband , the stubborn one, on Tuesday afternoon and without beating about the bush saved his life as he was in complete heart block. He was kept in the emergency dept at Torbay until early yesterday when moved to CCU and the cardiac consultant deemed his heart rate wasn't good enough for the pacemaker operation and put him on an adrenaline infusion. He's scheduled to get his operation this afternoon Thank you for your care, and help with the arrangements to get him there- we are both very thankful
