Review titled Bad practice
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 17 April 2025
Very unprofessional and unhelpful. I have never had such a bad experience as this with a GP practice before. Especially with mental health and wellbeing. They told me I need to apply for my own midwife and then proceeded to take me completely off of my medication which is dangerous for me

Dear Anonymous, I am so sorry that you have felt the need to complain about our services, unfortunately without any details it is impossible for me to look into your complaint properly. I will respond as best I can with the limited information you have provided: The midwifery service ask that pregnant patients are given a link to self refer into the midwifery service. I am sorry to say that the practice has no involvement in this set up, it is the way the service works, you are not expected to "find your own midwife", you are asked to contact the midwifery team only through the link. In regards to stopping medication for mental health, without specific details it is impossible to know why your medication has stopped. There will always be some medications that should not be prescribed to pregnant women as deemed harmful to the baby and those medications that you have been on may fall into this catagory. If you wish for more information and support please contact the practice directly Mrs Clarke Practice Manager

Review titled Poor Service - Lacking Compassion
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Karen Boon - Posted on 04 March 2025
Due to unforeseen traffic conditions I was late for my appointment with the nurse for a very important blood test. I was 20 minutes late. The receptionist spoke to the nurse at 9:05/9:10 and the nurse catagorically refused to see me and said she was too busy, this takes all of 5 minutes. I was in traffic for over an hour and this was unavoidable as the town was highly congested, making it impossible to get there. Historically I have never missed or been late and take the first appointment of the morning, and have never been seen on time often 15-20 mins beyond appointment time. I have not been able to reschedule this appointment as I have to make the lost time of 1 hour and 45 minutes up at work, surely some concession must be made for people who are genuinely not well and urgently need this appmt, this has now set me back because I will have to wait for a suitable time with my employer. Some consideration is needed and compassion for patients and their wellbeing. Something I don’t seem to be experiencing at the moment at Orchard St. with the exception of your lovely receptionists.

Dear Ms Boon I really am very sorry that you felt the need to complain however, can you please make your complaint to the correct practice, the one that you are actually registered with Dr Solway & Dr Roy not The Orchard Medical Practice, which is in the same building. Once Made you should receive a response from the practice manager explaining what has been done in response to your complaint. Kind Regards on behalf of Orchard Medical Practice

Unfortunately neither you or your daughter are registered with Orchard Medical practice, therefore I sorry to say that I am unable to offer a response on this site, regarding your comments about the practice that you are registered with. I have raised this previously with the website moderators who appear not to have taken any action to remove your comments from the wrong practice. You should write to the practice manager of your practice and ask for further information as to why this medication has been stopped Kind regards Practice Manager Orchard Medical Practice

I am really sorry that you feel that you are not receiving the mental health support that you need when consulting with your usual doctor. Unfortunately it is very difficult to look into individual issues when a patient posts an anonymous post as everyone's situation is different. I was pleased to note that we have attempted to book you with the same doctor for continuity of care which is an important aspect of our protocol. However, if you find that the relationship does not work you can ask to see another doctor, it is important to note however that the treatment maybe the same and it might be that your expectations are not achievable but I cannot know this until I know your name. It would be helpful if you could write me a brief letter so that I can look into the situation for you and see if there is anything further that we can do to assist you. Kind regards Andrea Clarke

Review titled Grateful for care.

by Patricia Barton - Posted on 30 November 2023
I have had need of GP help and advice numerous times, and for various conditions over the last year. I have found the whole practice to be very well run. Telephone appointments with both Nurses and Doctors have been easy to arrange and have proven to be very effective. GPs will readily see you if it's deemed necessary. Thank you all at Orchard Street for a wonderful service.
