  1. Review titled Unhelpful Appointment Process

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 March 2025

I tried to get an emergency appointment for my daughter and explained we were having problems getting her back from college and was there anything from 5 pm. I was told there was an appointment at 5 pm however I couldn’t have it as other appointments in the afternoon hadn’t been filled and they will have to fill these in order before they release the 5 o’clock. I was advised my only other options were to ring back at four and see if the 5 o’clock appointment was still free or go to a walk-in centre. The receptionist also agreed this wasn’t a very accommodating process and said if early appointments were still free they would not release the 5 o’clock appointment without special permission from the practice manager. Absolutely ridiculous.

Thank you for reaching out to us with your concerns. I understand that your recent experience has been frustrating, and I appreciate the opportunity to clarify our appointment allocation process. Our system is designed to allocate urgent on the day appointments based on the order in which requests are received. Due to the appointments being urgent on the day it is expected that patients will make themselves available to be seen at the next available appointment and will leave work / college / school to attend. Emergency appointments are scheduled on the same day, as we aim to provide timely care to all patients with immediate needs. We recognize that this may sometimes require patients to adjust their work or college schedules to accommodate the appointment. While we understand this can be challenging, it is necessary for us to manage appointments in this way to ensure that those who require urgent attention are seen promptly. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding in this regard. Please know that we are committed to providing high-quality care, and we strive to make the process as smooth as possible for all of our patients. If you have any further concerns or require assistance with rescheduling, please don't hesitate to get in touch with the Practice Manager on 01257 440817

  3. Review titled Do not publish

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I want to feedback to parbold surgery and this is not for publication. My 90 year old mum has received excellent care throughout her life from this Gp surgery. However, I feel that some of the younger GPs need to take a more holistic view and consider whether their recommendations are in the overall best interest of the patient. On Friday April 5th my mum was told by the gp to call an ambulance to go to an and e. She called 999 at 3pm and the ambulance finally arrived at 230am. She then spent 16 hours sat in a wheelchair in an and e eating room and was offered nothing to drink or eat for 12 of those hours. She was surrounded by drunks/police and was vulnerable to say the least. Her health will have detiorated due to this experience. I ask the surgery: To research current waiting times at an and e and ambulances before recommending it to patients. To reflect on whether the weekend is sensible for a vulnerable old lady to go into hospital. To consider community alternatives first for vulnerable patients who aren’t mobile.

  4. Review titled Waiting Times.....

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Nicola Caddick - Posted on 12 March 2024

Telephoned surgery to confirm time of appt and which GP was seeing my 8 year old son, plus if the GP was running late. Advised GP was currently not running late. Arrived 5 mins before appt time at 4.25pm. At 5pm GP appeared at door and called for a patient who was before us, so no idea how long they had been waiting. At 5.15pm I advised the receptionist I was leaving and had waited long enough. My son had another appt. later in the evening and I had to get him home, fed and ready for it. Was advised next appt would be in two weeks time. Or I could telephone next day if it was an emergency; it is now after not being seen by the GP, my choice I know, but you can't expect a child of 8 to wait an hour to see a GP. Surgery normally very good with appointments, but it wasn't today. Perhaps I jinxed the appt. by asking what the GP delayed....... In situations like this ie. GP running late, especially at the end of the day, perhaps another GP could step in and help out.

Thank you Mrs Caddick for sharing your feedback, and we are sorry for the inconvenience and frustration you experienced. We understand how challenging it can be when appointments don’t run as expected, especially when you have other commitments. We apologize for the delay and the lack of communication regarding the timing of the appointment. We appreciate your suggestion about having another GP step in when there are delays, and we will take this into consideration to help improve our service in the future. We strive to ensure that our patients are seen promptly, and we regret that this wasn't the case during your visit. We value your feedback and will work to ensure a better experience moving forward.
