Review titled Prompt Service
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 16 January 2025
I sent an online enquiry with regard to a long standing health issue. I gave all the back ground information required. Usually I am prescribed medication without being seen which was what I was expecting this time. I was surprised therefore to receive a call inviting me in wherein a further issue was identified and explained and medication issued. The Doctor said she had called me in due to my history which made me feel that for once someone is actually taking the time to read my notes and see me as an individual.

I rang and had a call backs from the doctor who asked if l could get to the surgery that morning, which l did. She checked my problem out and arranged for medication to be collected that day. I would like to thank her for her time seeing me so quickly.

Review titled Challenge to access medical services

The appointment booking system is appalling. Every time I ring up I am directed to complete the online form. There is no way to book a future dated appointment. The call handlers are very abrupt. The recorded message whilst waiting to get through says to be respectful of colleagues. Unfortunately I don’t think staff have got the memo to ’treat others how you would like to be treated yourself’. When you complete the form it says you will get a call in three or four weeks, depending how lucky you are. You get a call from the Dr and it rings three times only. If you miss it you’ve had it. You go right back to the start, fill in a form, wait three to four weeks. I work full time 8am to 6pm. My job is customer facing and I have meetings throughout my working day. It’s alright saying ’select times that work for you’ but I’m not free at 2pm every day for example. It was so much better when you had a booked appointment three weeks in advance or even if you got a text saying we will ring between 1pm and 5pm on X date. With only three rings of the phone, I don’t know how people cope if they are unlucky enough to be using the toilet, operating heavy machinery or driving when the sacred three rings chime on the phone. This is not a nationwide issue. Other practices in other parts of the country do not operate this way. We are no longer under the covid restrictions we experienced two years ago either. What’s the excuse in 2023?
