Review titled Horrible
Rated 2 stars out of 5

My mum recently had a blood test and results came back and she had a telephone appointment with the doctor only a week later! How does a doctor not have 5 minutes to talk about some blood test results? I do not understand. And then after the doctor called her, my mum cannot speak english that well so he asks her "do you have anybody who can translate at the moment" she says "no" and the doctor simply hangs up the phone right after and that's it. We call reception to tell them about this and then they say their "earliest" appointment is next month (over 2 weeks from now). This is complete discrimination and it's not right. Disappointed.

Review titled Rude interaction by reception staff
Rated 1 star out of 5

There is one lady that is sat in reception that always speaks in a very rude tone. I come in and stand in the queue to get called up, I get called to the front rudely by her as if she doesn't even want to work there. Then when you try to book appointments etc. she speaks to you ignorantly in a rude tone and looks you up and down as if you owe her something. She never smiles and never speaks to you in a nice manner, just straight up rudeness. She's quite elderly with short blonde hair and always has a disappointing expression on her face. Very displeased and rude every single time I come into Parkside.

Review titled Excellent Organisation
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Attended for covid vaccination. Met by a lovely administrator who was very welcoming. The organisation of the clinic was second to none. All staff very proficient. There was no waiting or queuing. Plenty staff on hand to direct you to correct clinician. Attended with husband whose appointment was two hours before mine. There was no problem in me having my vaccination early. Clinician who gave the vaccination explained the procedure and possible side effects. The vaccination was painless. A fantastic team from entering surgery to leaving. Thank you.

Review titled G.P. services in name only

For the past six weeks I had a severe sore throat condition that did not respond to over tge counter medication. Each week for six weeks I tried to get an appointment by telephoning the surgery. The telephone lines were usually engaged or if I got through, I was told all the appointments had gone and told me to call back at 8 am the next day. Primary care access at this surgery is almost impossible to obtain. I was somewhat amazed to read reviews in NHS Patient surveys ,stating over 80 per cent of yhis surveyed are happy with thd level of service. Perhaps I have been unlucky!!!!! I recently went to a routine dental appointment and was strongly advised to seek medical help as the dentist was concerned when she found a small lump in my throat. Parkside surgery have totally failed me in obtaining an appointment. A sad state of affairs for the NHS.

Review titled Appalling service at reception
Rated 1 star out of 5

I had a distressing experience at Parkside Medical Centre on two occasions, where I was appallingly spoken to by the reception staff. Today's incident was particularly embarrassing as I was shouted at in front of a queue of people for simply stepping forward before being called across. The receptionist stood up and screamed at me, displaying completely inappropriate behavior. As someone who works as a manager in the health and social care sector I am fully aware of the strains and pressure surrounding us, this aside I would expect to see better patient empathy from the team, which unfortunately seems lacking. While the doctors are excellent, the overall experience is marred by the reception team. I believe the practice manager should address and improve this issue promptly, as the medical center is notorious for having subpar receptionists, Two other patients approached me outside, expressing concern about what they witnessed. I feel completely embarrassed and regret moving to this practice.

yesterday they called from the reception and said that some of the tests you did are bad. Then you think of the worst, you can't sleep at night, I cried, I got nervous. Today I went to the doctor with fear and she says that everything is fine, everything is normal, I don't know why she told you that, I understand how worried you were, but everything is fine. I went to the doctor with the greatest fear. It's the kind of women who work at the reception desk, that they tell a man like that and then they get nervous

Review titled Reception staff blues

I found it necessary to visit Parkside Surgery to obtain information from my own medical record. I was greeted by a surley receptionist who had very poor interpersonal skills. I explained what I required and why. The receptionist was very dismissive and unhelpful. I realise the role of a G.P. receptionist is difficult and at times, stressful. But. The staff at Parkside fo themselves no favours by adopting a'defensive' get rid of the patient a.s.a.p. attitude. If I could, I would transfer to an alternative surgery with a more pro patient ethos.

Rang the GP over 100 times when answered receptionist wasn’t competent in prioritising patients, finally she was rude and refused to book an appointment because according to her the patient couldn’t speak English and needed a double appointment, when explained that the patient coming with his own translator the receptionist said we still need they translator, so it will be paid by NHS. When said that we will need to go to the hospital we been told that is up to us. Spent 2h with no results.

Review titled Communication failure

Had an appointment at surgical centre. Very poor mobility means I struggle to walk even short distances, but lack of appropriate signs meant I had to walk from one end of the building to the other 5 times. I was dropped by entrance to surgical depth. Sign said it was closed and access was by main surgery entrance. From there the depth I was attending was signposted, so I followed the signs, right to the back of the large building, where I discovered the only access was via stairs to the 1st floor. Back to reception to have to wait 10 mins to be seen and told I needed to use the lifts. Upstairs there are no signs to the department i required only a waiting area. Another patient agreed the signs were very misleading where they existed. So much anxiety could have been relieved by a simple paragraph in the appointment letter mentioning the access arrangements. Perhaps many people in the queue for reception could have had their queries answered by adequate signs, freeing up reception staff to answer phones, another issue I've had with this practice in the past.
