  1. Review titled Hopeless

Rated 1 star out of 5

It is almost impossible to get an appointment to see a doctor ( I say almost because someone might be able to, but not me). It is at least 5 years since I have been able to get an appointment with a doctor. That is not totally unusual in this day and age but to see on the practice website that the doctors have decided "to undertake collective action" is beyond a joke. From where I sit that should see an improvement in the service. The administration is terrible. I received a text inviting me to obtain a Covid booster, I made an appointment and received this text "Your Covid-19 vaccination is booked at xx Please attend: Parkside Surgery Woodley". It took me 30 mins to drive there, pay for parking and then queue. That was the best part. I was in a queue with very elderly/infirm people all expecting their Covid boosters. As I approached the head of the queue I learnt that there were no Covid boosters; just flu jabs. I left. The incompetence or arrogance takes one's breath away. This used to be a descent practice now the best thing that could happen to it, is to close it down. My advice is follow my lead go somewhere else.

  2. Review titled Every contact has been positive

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Elizabeth - Posted on 11 October 2024

I have been a registered patient for many years . I have chronic conditions and take quite a long list of medications for them . However I have had a few more contacts than usual this year and particularly over the last few months : I have completed the amina on-line form which resulted in a face to face appointment . I have seen the paramedic for a minor illness . I have spoken to a GPs for advice for an acute issue. I have spoken to the HRT nurse , seen the HCA for a chronic disease review and a nurse for a vaccination . In every contact I have been satisfied ! The reception team are friendly and don’t make me feel a nuisance . All the clinicians have been professional and assisted me with the issue I presented them with . Overall I think the surgery has improved over the years . I like the organised non cluttered waiting rooms at both sites and it all seems very efficient . Overall I feel very supported by the practice in managing my health and very much appreciate the availability of appointments they offer and the consistently pleasant staff I have had had contact with .

  3. Review titled Fabulous receptionist!

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 August 2024

I just wanted to give the receptionists a big shout out! The past couple of months I've had to call for various reasons for me and the kids and whenever they have answered the phone they have been polite, with a friendly tone to their voices and managed to sort out whatever was needed. They seems incredibly efficient and sound happy to help. Thank you so much for the way you treated me on the phone as I imagine your job can be incredibly stressful being on the front line but you seem to go above and beyond! Thank you again!

  4. Review titled Consistently awful unapologetic and rude service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 February 2024

Every single time I call this Practise, I start up in a happy cheery mood and by the end of the conversation I usually left depressed and upset with life. Called this morning to book my two girls their final stage of MMR jabs (half term coming up), Was told by the grumpy receptionist that she couldnt book any more appoinments until the practise admin had 'set the book up'. What the heck this means I dont know but her attitude and tone was a "I told give a toss about you" and she made no apology and continued to state that maybe if I called later in the week they might have got the "book" up. The doctors are amazing but each time I call these receptionist its like they are a brick wall and getting that appointment is nigh impossible. Awful awful women.

We are however full next week, but have availability from the 23rd February. 5. Review titled A big challenge to be able to get in touch with the GP

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 November 2023

The biggest challenge with this practice is to be able to book an appointment with the GP and that is purely because of the receptionist . Even for a cancer patient they do not allow you an appointment with the GP and you are referred to the paramedic consultant repeatedly . While this can be understandable for an appointment which you are looking to get on the day , it seems they have stopped giving generic appointments as well . Even if I say that I am happy to wait for the next available appointment , they will ask you to give me a call at 8 am the following day and then eventually direct you to the paramedic consultant . While I must say the paramedic consultant here is a great person , but then for serious conditions you ought to be seen by a GP. More than anything else , it’s the first layer of contact who are the receptionists who makes your life miserable.

  6. Review titled A Kind and Compassionate GP Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by SRJ - Posted on 05 July 2023

I've been going to this GP practice for about 8 years now, and I honestly can't say enough for them. I've been to previous GP practices where the service has been borderline unsafe and outright unkind, and I feel like they should all take pointers from this one. From relatively minor afflictions such as ear infections to providing me support when I had a mini-stroke they've been with me every step of the way. The treatment is quick and thorough, and standards of professionalism are held at every single level. And most of all: they're just really kind to you when you're having a hard time. Every single doctor has listened to me. The HCAs and nurses are always kind and considerate, and take the time to reassure you as they do the tests. Even the receptionists are kind and helpful under great pressure, one of them even took the time to talk me down when I called them sobbing one time! I'm truly grateful to them and would not go to another GP surgery. willingly. Truly the best of the NHS!

  7. Review titled Great Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 January 2023

I had to call the practice on a Friday at 5pm for a UTI . I got through easily and the receptionist kindly put me on the Duty Dr list . The Dr called me an hour later and sorted out a prescription for me , which I am extremely grateful for . This GP surgery helped me out even though it was late on a Friday so five stars to them

  8. Review titled Contacting surgery

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I tried many times to speak to a receptionist. There is so much spiel to get through that eventually I was told I was 16 in the queue. This happened several times over 2 days. In the end I suffered damaged ribs after a heavy fall on my own

Good Afternoon I am very sorry that struggled to get through to the surgery in December, sadly from the beginning of December we had a 300% increase in call volumes due to the Strep A and Scarlet fever outbreaks, our receptionists were working tirelessly to keep up with the demand. I do appreciate that the "comfort messages" may seems long, but we change these to match our FAQ's and avoid patients having to wait to speak to a receptionist to answer a question that could potentially be answered by the messages on the system. If you would like to discuss this further please do contact me directly at leaza.webb1@nhs.net. Kind regards Leaza Webb Practice Manager
