  1. Review titled Supportive reception staff

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Lex - Posted on 16 May 2024

When discharged from hospital after surgery, my gp did not have any records of this and it was very difficult to get seen. I had spoken to the sam receptionist reach time i called to try and arrange my aftercare who was very understanding, patient and supportive. She helped me to get seen by a gp at the end of surgery and helped to arrange my follow up appointments too which i was really greatful for

Dear Lex, I am pleased to hear that you had such a good experience at the surgery. Our receptionists work hard to ensure patients are treated well and it is nice for them to be appreciated. Thank you. Practice Manager

  2. Review titled New booking system to see a doctor at Parkview Surgery

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Bryan Rogers - Posted on 11 April 2024

It takes alot for myself to trouble the doctor. If I need a appointment it will because I'm in pain. Trying to get a appointment today was horrendous, firstly I was on hold for 40 minutes only to then be told appointment's are no longer available over the phone. I was then told to follow the link to Patches to book a appointment with the doctor. I then tried this only for Patches website to say nothing is available at Parkview Surgery and to try again the following day at10:00 am. I then spent another 35 on hold to Parkview Surgery only to be told rudely by the receptionist to call 999 or 111 .... No wonder our health care is in a mess . Meanwhile I'm still suffering in pain.

I am sorry to hear you had difficulty getting a GP appointment. I have reviewed your two telephone calls with the surgery today. We have been receiving a large number of requests for appointments and the doctors suggested the PATCHS system as a way for patients to submit their requests and the clinical team to review which patients need to be seen most quickly rather than the first come first served method we used to use. We receive between 40 and 50 requests for appointments via this method each day in addition to urgent requests via 111 or UCC. In order to give the clinical team time to sort through the requests, the PATCHs system is turned off twice a day but it is always available in the evenings as in this case. I will ask the Reception Manager to review the number of PATCHS appointment slots available each day to see if we can make it work better for patients. If you would like to discuss the matter further please contact me. Jackie Quaif Practice Manager

  3. Review titled worst practice I have ever been with

Rated 1 star out of 5

I was feeling very faint due to my blood pressure was quite high on10/06/2024, I called the practice to book an urgent appt only to be told by the receptionist, i need to go on patchs and told her I couIdnt because I am at work and I am unable to do so, I did see the hca the previous week and he advised me to see the dr due to my high bp, of which i spoke to the receptionist that day and she told me to leave a message on patchs, however i felt very unwell and she would not book an urgent appt for me which was not a problem in the past, now she is telling me they do not book urgent appts over the phone any longer and she refused to listen, instead I was informed I would get a phone call later that day which never came. I got worse and ended up calling 111 who advised me to go straight to the Royal Free Hospital Emergency Dept, I have now left the Parkview Surgery and Registered elsewhere due to this problem.

Dear Patient, I am sorry you had difficulty booking an appointment on 10th June. In order to see patients in order of need, the practice now operates a total triage model whereby the duty clinician reviews each request for an appointment and books with the most appropriate person as soon as needed. Ideally patients will use PATCHS as this enables them to give as much detail as possible rather than over the phone. If PATCHS is impossible then the receptionist will take the information over the phone. As you have not given your details I cannot investigate further with our telephone logs. I am happy to discuss further if you would like. Practice Manager

  4. Review titled Waste of time with 1 practice nurse

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 December 2023

Relates to my appointment today 12.12.2023 with a practice nurse. This nurse was rude towards me in her approach, did not know reason for the appointment even though it was booked by the practice. She made me extremely uncomfortable that I had to advise her I cannot progress with the appointment with her. She totally wasted my time having had to leave a meeting to accommodate this appointment. My advice to her is to refine her professional approach and interaction with patients. I have been with this GP practice for a long time and overall the Practice staff are very good minus the weakest link!

I am sorry to hear that you did not get the service you expected from our practice nurse. From what can gather the nurse was clarifying what you wished to discuss as you have more than one condition and reception occasionally book the incorrect thing. She was happy to review whatever you wanted but you did not wish to proceed. Please contact the practice if you wish to discuss this further so we can see if any retraining is needed, for example

  5. Review titled Extremely rude and no clear/incorrect information

Rated 1 star out of 5

After collecting new patient registration pack followed all the requested instructions. On 1st attempt to register was advised all the individuals need to attend plus some additional information needs to be provided (not mentioned earlier). Trying to stay patient came back few days later with the requested details and all the family members (including the kids), only to be told that registration are only accepted between 1-3pm, tried to explain kids would be at school and the registration pack provided clearly says request to register between 1-3pm outside these hours the wait will be longer. Response was we have changed that and if you don’t want to register find another practice!!! They knew the patients to be registered is a child as the additional details required was the red book photocopy could have informed me then they will not accept the registration outside the 1-3pm window. Really did not seem interested, one the questions they ask you to tick and sign is you have read the information leaflet provided by the practice, naturally I am not going to tick it as I was not given the leaflet, on asking for the leaflet was told they dont have it come back. On going back same person just tells me we dont have it and says come back and speak to the manger.

I have just got access to be able to reply to this message. I am sorry you found the registration process difficult. At that time we were receiving a huge influx of new patients and we found it difficult to keep up. We have changed the process now and accept electronic registrations which hopefully patients will find easier. The Parkview Team
