  1. Review titled Excellent meds review via phone

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Mark Saint - Posted on 12 March 2025

This was a very good meds review and, based solely on this, the practice is highly recommended. However, other recent experiences for my wife and me, mainly with very poor and discourteous admin, paint a different picture which is why a neutral score has been offered.

  3. Review titled Medical Miracles

Rated 5 stars out of 5

So I’d been in the north west and suffered some chest pains and breathing difficulties but instantly I had on site first aid at Chester Zoo followed by paramedics in their hi tech ambulance, amazing treatment at Chester Hospital then Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester but everything got even better with Patford Partnership in Calne and Great Western Hospital. Nobody wants to get involved in the system but if you’re I’ll the NHS is superb ! The medical centre team were excellent and in Calne they got me on my way then My GP sorted me a referral at GWH and I was there the next day having a complete MOT in every sense. The good news is I’m ok !

  5. Review titled No help

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Robert Christie - Posted on 29 March 2025

First i was diagnosed over rhe phone with a chest infection and given antibiotics. When i looked at what i had been given it said 'Do Not Take' with Alupurinol which i had previously been prescribed for my gout. This was a little concerning but fortunately the chest infection eventually cleared. 2 weeks ago i started suffering from pains in my back and down my leg, these have become quite debilitating and extremely painful. I already take Naproxen for the arthritis in my knees but it was not touching the pain in my back & legs. After calling the doctor again i was diagnosed over the phone with sciatica and prescribed Nefopam. This painkiller did not agree with me and i ended up struggling to pass water which was very worrying. I called the doctor again and unfortunately can only describe this call and previous calls as a difficult experience. The doctor was at best unempathetic and at worst completely dismissive of my symptoms and pain. He basically told me to keep taking Naproxen which he gave me another prescription for. I am back where i started with it all. I still have my severe knee pain (which seems to have been ignored now as no follow up or additional steroid injections) and i now have additional problems and it would be really helpful to actually see a doctor. I do not believe telephone appointments are suitable for diagnosing everything and i also think that if you are talking to a GP on the phone you need someone who actually sounds interested rather than quite rude & dismissive. He also never said his name just this is the GP from Patford House? I understand that things have changed and it is no longer possible to just call for a doctors appointment but sadly i think too many ailments are going under the radar due to diagnosis by phone.

  6. Review titled Good Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Matthew Dancey - Posted on 21 March 2025

I was originally contacted by who just did not listen to anything l had to say including medication that was making my condition being blood pressure worse! A call back was requested for ££ a very professional member of staff who l have spoken to previously. She called back in the afternoon and was simply perfect. She listened attentively and acted prudently. She is a credit to your practice.

I had my appointment 9 days ago and I have no news on a prescription that I was promised. I have previously revived prescriptions sooner so I think it has been forgotten.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Very happy with the surgery, doctor I saw and care I was given. I felt very listened to by the doctor, he gave a good treatment plan and I felt confident leaving. Only downside is the building itself is looking pretty tired now.

I have always had great service and response to any issues. The nurses and GPs are helpful and courteous at all times. The nurse phoned me to address the issues I had at the prearranged time. She had all the information needed at hand.

Was most impressed with the service I experienced. From the time Dr invited me into her surgery room through to her follow-up the same day the experience was superb. I am now looking forward to an appointment at the John Radcliffe Hospital shortly.
