  1. Review titled Amazing acute service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Peter Dacombe - Posted on 24 July 2024

Over the past 2 weeks I’ve been treated for ophthalmic shingles and can’t thank her and the team enough for the outstanding service they provide. I have had very thorough face to face reviews, slick telemedicine consults and referrals to secondary care which was all been really well handled. The standard of care has been fantastic and I would highly recommend this practice.

  2. Review titled Some brilliant doctors

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by BIBI - Posted on 08 June 2024

I have had a really challenging few years since entering the peri-menopause. I have experienced a variety of testing symptoms (dry, sore eyes, memory loss, joint ache, exhaustion, sleeplessness, headaches, painful periods, vaginal atrophy, recurrent UTI's) all while holding down a senior leadership role at work and running a busy family. Like many women, this has taken me completely off guard as the menopause was not taught at school and I feel like my body and mind have been ambushed. I think we all feel ill-equipped to handle these huge changes with very little information and many women also report a lack of support from doctors too. While it is true that a few doctors at Pembroke Road did miss some pretty obvious peri-menopause symptoms and were quite dismissive, there are a handful of excellent (female) doctors who are ensuring that they are armed with up to date facts and information and are ready to support and help you. Yesterday, I had the best GP appointment I've ever had - I felt listened to, we discussed symptoms and options and I left with a plan. While we wait for the much-needed investment in women's health, we need to rely on brilliant GP's to see us through and navigate this incredibly challenging period of our lives. I am not allowed to name names in this review, but know that there are several female GP's at this practice who are ensuring their patients are well-cared for during this difficult time and for that I say: thank you.

  3. Review titled Most pain-free blood test I’ve had

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I’ve just had a very good blood test. I am quite anxious about having blood tests but the lady who performed it was very gentle and I hardly felt a thing! Thank you!

  4. Review titled Great quality of care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Elaine Brown - Posted on 12 July 2024

I would just like to say a huge thank you for her ongoing care and support for my daughter. Seeing the same doctor on a regular basis has ensured that my daughter sought the diagnosis and subsequent treatment she needs for endometriosis and possible IBS. We really appreciate this high quality service from someone that really cares. Thank you. PS This site won't allow me to name her GP but you will know who she is so please pass on this message.

  6. Review titled Helpful practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by jenny harrison - Posted on 14 June 2024

I am a visitor to Bristol, and needed some stitches removed. I'd had a bad experience with another practice who refused to help, and referred me to the Minor Injuries Unit who do not remove stitches. My daughter telephoned Pembroke Road Surgery, and we went together. The three reception staff we spoke to could not have been more helpful. I was seen that morning, and a very pleasant senior nurse specialist removed my stitches. The practice was clean, light and comfortable. The whole experience was so reassuring after my difficult first attempt to get help.

  7. Review titled Doctor really took time to get me care for my asthma

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 June 2024

It took over three years for me to get signed up with a GP when I returned to Bristol. When I did get a place at a different practice, I was only able to get one phone appointment in over a year. Luckily, I was then able to get a place at Pembroke Road and the service has been excellent. I called on Monday to get help with my asthma, which has recently become much worse, and got a phone appointment and prescription the same day. Next week I have an asthma review appointment to make sure I have a long-term plan. I am hugely grateful. For the past couple of nights I have slept better than I have in years. I had never bothered to deal with my asthma before because it has been so hard to get care. The doctor who spoke with me really took time to understand my symptoms.

  8. Review titled Nursing team - great as ever

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sian Hoskins - Posted on 09 May 2024

I have regular blood monitoring and had another blood test today. What isn't really a pleasant experience was made so by the nurse who was professional, friendly, funny and chatty. All the nursing team are great all of the time.

  9. Review titled Skin Condition - Successful Treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Philip Butler - Posted on 17 May 2024

Over the past 4 months, I have been receiving treatment by various nursing staff at Pembroke Road Surgery to resolve my condition. The standard of treatment was consistently very high and all the nurses/doctors were wonderful, everything that we would always hope to receive from the NHS. A particular mention of the nurse who treated me during my last 7 visits, a very warm and attentive nurse, quite witty at times, who was so determined and dedicated to helping me and to which she finally achieved success in the past 2 weeks. She is a very special nurse, and Pembroke Road Surgery is very lucky to have her at the practice. I will be forever grateful to her. Philip
