  1. Review titled Pharmacy and reception in surgery not b helpful

Rated 3 stars out of 5

    by Dave C - Posted on 28 March 2025

I was extremely disappointed with the onsite pharmacy and receptionist. I recently switched to having my prescriptions delivered, though I’m unsure why this service is available to able-bodied people, especially with the NHS struggling, but that’s another story. Unfortunately, my latest prescription was lost in the post. As I am traveling abroad for over three weeks and leaving in just two days, this was a major concern. When I contacted the surgery’s pharmacy for assistance, I was simply told to reach out to the online pharmacy responsible for dispatching my prescription. No further guidance was provided. Worried about running out of medication while traveling, I asked the receptionist if a doctor could issue a new prescription under the circumstances. However, I was told there were no available appointments—unbelievable. All I needed was a prescription. Thankfully, my online pharmacy was incredibly helpful and professional, ensuring I had what I needed in this stressful situation.

The GP I saw was brilliant , he went above and beyond to assist me. My appointment was arranged quickly and I was seen early.

  3. Review titled Poor pharmacy service

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I have previously been unimpressed with the way I have been treated by pharmacy staff. When I asked if the buzzer worked as no-one seemed to be responding, I was told “if it worked, we’d never get anything done”. When I asked how service users were supposed to alert staff they were waiting if it doesn’t work, I was told “just shout”. Also, I am offended by being continually asked “what’s your exemption” when collecting medication. I don’t have one, I pay for my prescriptions. On this occasion, I checked my Patient Access account this morning and saw that my medication order had been approved by the GP and was ready to collect. I went to the practice pharmacy and was told to come back tomorrow. I said I had had a notification that it was approved and ready for collection (I have a screen shot of this) and was told “no, you’ve had a notification that we’ve accepted it for processing”. I repeated what is shown on my Patient Access account and the assistant shook her head all the time I was speaking and started to tell me what, in her opinion, I had actually seen. I told her I work in the NHS (I am an Information Governance Manager/ Data Protection Officer) and I understand how shared access systems work, and I have proof of what I saw. I was told it wasn’t ready. I asked for a emergency prescription for two items: I need to visit again for these later and again for the remaining items tomorrow, so three visits in all.

  4. Review titled Exceptional service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I felt it appropriate to write about the service me and my family have received today as GP's get very bad press. However, I have contacted the surgery today and the service has been professional, caring and so efficient. I would like to thank you for the care and compassion showed and the fast turn around which has made a real difference to me and my husband. many thanks again

Not up to the usual standard of yearly medical review looked like time was an issue and only touched on parts of medication and problems.

  6. Review titled Poor attitude

Rated 2 stars out of 5

My Mother was registered as temporary patient. I had two appointments made the latter specifically for a female doctor. The 2nd appointment cancelled with no contact. Very difficult to get my disabled mother to surgery so very inconvenient to say the least!!!!!!

Dear Christopher Smith, you were sent a Text message to your mobile telephone on 26/6/23 cancelling your mothers appointment as she had been seen that day by the urgent care GP. We received confirmation that the message had been received.

Rang reciption was told I rang emergency even though pressing 3 is for reception. So i was cut off mid sentence to be told that. When I asked to speak to reciption instead told I already was? Was rushed to speak, she wouldnt let me explain my situation, its an important mental health issue, incredibly rude and condesending

We have a Digital telephone system and very often patients press option 1 ( Emergencies ) before they have listened to the options menu. It is important that we keep the Emergency line free at all times and ask patients to either ring back or be brief.
