  1. Review titled Great nurse

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by paul wolstenholme - Posted on 24 March 2025

The results of a recent blood test were reviewed on Thursday 20th March by a nurse in a most efficient and friendly manner. Good explanations and practical advice and were offered in an intelligent and good natured way and gratefully received. The session took place exactly on time.

  2. Review titled The best care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Julia Stone - Posted on 16 March 2025

I’ve had several experiences with Phoenix Family Practice, and I’m incredibly grateful for their care. They’ve always managed to give me appointments at short notice, which has been such a relief during stressful times. The doctors took my concerns seriously, arranging necessary tests and referring me promptly for specialist care at the hospital when needed. Their professionalism, kindness, and efficiency have made a real difference to my health journey. I always feel listened to and supported, and I truly appreciate how they go above and beyond to provide the best care possible. Thank you to the whole team for your dedication and compassion!

  3. Review titled A not understanding practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

Waited for surgery to receive updated prescriptions authorised by outside consultants. This was received but not sent to chemist to dispense. I needed to chase and communicate again over a simple update to meds.

  5. Review titled practice far to busy to help

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 February 2025

After being patients for over 40 years we were asked to leave because we had moved into an area that the NHS site was showing as an option for a new practice with our post code. I opposed but eventually found a practice that was equal distance away. Phoenix practice is far too busy and I do not understand why it is still taking on new patients. Our new practice answers our calls within maximum of 2 rings. We can get appointments on the day. The reception has managed so far to answer all our queries. I have waited with Phoenix for over 30 calls, and I've known the internet service close in the morning. In my opinion it cannot manage the patients it has and should not be taking on any more. So all in all I am glad we have found a better practice.

  6. Review titled Cancelling appointment at late notice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 December 2024

Booked an appointment 2 weeks ago, organised the time off work. Only to get a message at 4pm the afternoon before telling me that my appointment is cancelled due to capacity issues. What is the point in booking if it can just get cancelled at this late notice? Also, when I went on the website to complain, I see a message saying they are taking new patients. Something is very wrong with this practice, my elderly mother has had nothing but problems with the service here recently as well.

  7. Review titled Challenging access to health needs daily

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 November 2024

Everytime I try to follow the repeat prescription or requesting for a Doctors appointment I am unable to get through via the online. I try using my phone internet or even my nhs job internet and the online site does not launch. I then have to telephone in and wait in the queue. It mostly soul destroying when I’m at work with limited time look into personal, urgent concerns. I’ve only on 2 occasions was able to get through online.

  8. Review titled Efficient Flu Jab

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Murray - Posted on 29 October 2024

We attended the practice for our annual flu jab along with many others with morning appointments. The process was efficient and we both found the nurses and doctors administering the vaccinations were welcoming and in good humour.

  9. Review titled Terrible communications

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 09 July 2024

...the communication infrastructure is not great - waiting for over an hour to get through to Reception or requesting a call back (option 1) for your mobile to ring once and then you are not quick enough to answer in 4 seconds .... and then back in the phone queue at number 13 or number 18 for another hour plus of waiting - is this acceptable?

We really appreciate your feedback, even if it is not what we'd like to hear. Firstly we know the change is process has been really disruptive and not everyone is able to use an online form. I am happy to investigate any specific issues you've experienced if your want to make contact directly. However, if you're at all willing or able, we have received overwhelming positivity about the online forms on our website when people use them and would encourage you to try them next time: https://www.phoenixfamilypractice.nhs.uk/ Secondly, I think it's important to address the climate the NHS and in turn GP surgeries nationwide find themselves in. As standard now, we're dealing with much higher demand than ever before with similar resources, which impacts our ability to provide capacity. When you ask whether it's acceptable, I share your concerns but will confidently say the onus is no longer on your local GP surgery whose staff are working above and beyond to provide for everyone who needs care. We'd kindly ask you speak to your member of parliament about your concerns and feel free to highlight our points. Kind regards, Kyle Barrett Operations Manager

  10. Review titled Frustrating

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 June 2024

Making appointments is by phone at exactly 8:30am & 1:30pm. Not ideal for parents who need to do school runs, it’s near impossible & requires a lot of multitasking & stress. I recently discovered that the Phoenix website says that we can now submit appointment requests & prescription requests on a form online. Which would be really helpful but these forms don’t actually work, it keeps saying it is outside of office hours even when it is not so the forms are not useable. It’s frustrating trying to book an appointment. Why can’t this practice be like other practices where you just use a form & people call you. Please please improve the way this is done at this practice, it will help many patients & parents, elderly etc. having to juggle so much already.

Thanks for your time providing feedback. We have been very clear in communicating standardised opening times for the online forms, and we've since updated our website based on feedback like yours, to make this even more explicit. While I hope you and your family's health means you need not access the service again any time soon, we hope the improved clarity will assist you in completing a form in the future. We have had very positive feedback from people who use the new system and we stress that in urgent situations you can still call or attend the surgery in person, as has been available historically. Kind regards, Kyle Barrett Operations Manager
