Review titled Great staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Elaine Concannon - Posted on 25 April 2024
I've used this practice for many years and never been disappointed. All the staff including receptionist, doctors & nurses are always lovely. They are very efficient and I/my family always receive the best care. Special shout to "the nurse" who took my blood today, people usually struggle with me but she gets blood straight away and never any bruising.

Review titled Unexplained admin errors
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 31 January 2024
I transferred here due to moving house last year and chose the practice due to good ratings. I'm not a complex case but have experienced two admin errors within the last month. My prescription was sent to a different pharmacy in Didsbury, but it took multiple phone calls with my actual pharmacy and the practice to figure this out and get it corrected. I always include the pharmacy I use in my presciption request. Today I turned up to a New Patient Check appointment which I had been summoned for via text (I registered about 8 months ago) then was called into a side room only to be told it was made in error and was meant for a different patient. I hope it's understandable why this is very frustrating because it comes across as a lack of basic diligence.

Dear patient Firstly, I would like to express my sincere apologies for your recent negative experience with The Pike Practice. The surgery endeavours to provide the best possible standard of care to all our patients and we hope this response assures you of the seriousness of which we have taken your concerns and actions we will take to help to prevent this from happening again to you or any other patient. The Pike Practice does take complaints seriously and welcome any feedback from patients which will ultimately assist us to improve the services we deliver. I am sorry it took multiple phone calls to amend your nominated pharmacy. I have since discussed with my reception and admin team to be vigilant when requesting medication and ensuring the correct pharmacy is on patient records. Staff are sincerely apologetic for the unnecessary stress this would have caused you. I have also spoken with the reception and admin team regarding an appointment being booked for you and the team do take full responsibility of this error and would like to extend their further apologies. If you wish to discuss this further, please contact me on 01457 832561. Thank you Charlotte Harrop Practice Manager

Review titled Unreachable uncaring unhelpful

Requires patients to call at 8am the day they wish to have an appointment, my last attempt I called from 8am till 8.45am and was unable to get through as line was continuously busy. Not to mention calling on numerous occasions to be told by a voicemail that the practice is closed for staff training. When you do get through you are usually asked to complete a online form which requires self diagnose. As an individual not trained as a medical professional this is not only not helpful but potentially life threatening and most options tell you to call 101 or go to A&E immediately. In person appointments are near impossible with an rash referral taking over a year to be given an appointment, which was at the hospital. A physio appointment which resulted in x-rays for a fracture taking almost two month which is dangerous for obvious reasons. I would say all my experiences have lead to prolonged suffering and failure for the practice to act in a sufficient time to prevent complications. I can not say if these failings are due to lack of staff or lack of common sense but if you do need medical attention you are better going A&E because you'll spend as long waiting for this practice to answer the phone as you will to see a real medical professional in person.

Dear patient, Thank you for your recent correspondence bringing to our attention the problem you have experienced within our Practice. I am Charlotte and I am the practice manager and I can confirm I am looking into the points you have made as a matter of urgency. I'd like to express my sincere apologises that you have had a poor experience with the practice. We are following the NHS guidelines to use online consultations to book appointments to provide the best service and to optimise patient satisfaction. However, we do understand that certain patients will not be able to comply with this request therefor our care-coordinators will always give you the best alternative options. As part of the PCN agreement we have enhanced services such as GP appointments and Nurse appointments which are face-to-face. Our care-coordinators are fully trained in providing these appointments to patients. In addition, I am sorry to hear that there was a delay in receiving an appointment at the hospital. However, we thrive to ensure patients are seen in a timely manner by chasing and expediting appointments when requested. The surgery endeavours to provide the best possible standard of care to all our patients and we hope this response assures you of the seriousness of which we have taken your concerns, and actions we will take to help to prevent this happening again to you or any other patient. The Pike Practice does take complaints seriously and welcome any feedback from patients which will ultimately assist us to improve the services we deliver. Kind regards, Charlotte Harrop Practice Manager
