So appears i now need a fasting blood test but after the recent horrendous attempt to get blood non fasting I need assurance that you can provide someone at crookhorn who can actually take blood without leaving me battered and bruised Then to find it should have been a fasting blood test is beyond belief Meanwhile I can't get an appointment for my hip leg and back pain

Thank you for your feedback. All our phlebotomists and HCAs are qualified to be able to take bloods however, there is no guarantee that blood will be taken first time and without common side effects such as bruising. You will need to contact for a routine appointment to be able to discuss you hip, leg and back issues.

The telephone appointment was made for 09:45. The doctor rang nearer 10:20. Good start! The doctor disagreed with the previous conversation I had had with the Crookhorn pharmacist during my medication review. Then the doctor queried why I'd stopped taking my other tablets. I informed her it was written on the prescription that NICE don't recommend taking the tablets for more than 3yrs. I had been taking them for that time. I asked how I should request a shingles jab. She said you need to be 70yrs or older. I informed the doctor of recent changes to the age and she didn't appear aware. I made zero progress on this subject. Overall I considered the doctor at best vague and unhelpful.

  5. Review titled Thank you

I attended my GP appointment this morning at the Paulsgrove surgery. Due to lack of childcare I had to bring my 10 months old twins along with me. The double buggy wouldn't squeeze through the door but nothing seemed too much trouble for the surgery staff. GP and a nurse were nothing but warm, welcoming, supportive and understanding and made this experience a lot less stressful than it could have been. Thank you for your fantastic service, support and care.

I rang for an appointment with travel clinic and was put on the waiting list. Within a very short time I received an appointment to attend surgery for required vaccinations. I was made aware of what I needed and received advice for mosquito protection. Very pleasant nurse, no waiting time at surgery.

A very pleasant experience. The surgery was empty and I was trrated very well. As I,d broken my hip it would have been nice to receive some " care" info. I ve received nothing from the main surgery.

  10. Review titled Shingles Vaccination

Rated 4 stars out of 5

    by Philip H - Posted on 25 September 2023

Last week, I turned up at the surgery at the arranged appointment time for my Shingles vaccination. I had already had a Shingles vaccination last year. The duty receptionist had no record of my appointment for a Shingles vaccination ........ instead she said that I was there for a Blood Test, despite me waving the dated Shingles vaccination request form in front of her. Now I had already had a Blood Test less than two weeks before and was curious to know what was going on. I was sent to see the Duty Nurse who confirmed that I had already had a Shingles jab but did not know when. She then did a Blood pressure test on me and then gave me a Flu Jab. I asked for a Covid jab as there has been heaps of advice lately telling people of my vintage that we need to get another Vaccination as there is a variation doing the rounds. I was no and to wait until I was given an appointment. In the last 5 weeks I have had separate appointments for a Lung scan, Retinopathy check, Blood Pressure check, Blood Test x 2 and a Shingles vaccination which did not happen. I still need a Covid Jab. OK, these appointments are important but can more of them not be combined to save time?

Thank you for your feedback. You are correct that it would have been far more efficient for some of these appointments to be combined. We will take these comments and board and make changes where we can.
