Review titled Amazing
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 March 2025
Recently moved to this surgery as previous surgery was shocking. Used Preston Grove first time today and I have to say wow. Submitted online request for new meds at 09:48, responded by 09:52 with a question. New prescription sent to pharmacy at 10:56. Couldn’t ask for a better service. Only thing I can say is that the website is poorly designed compared to others in the area.

Dear Patient, Thank you for such a positive review; we really appreciate your feedback. We are currently reviewing our website and will be looking to change to another provider at our next contract review, but in the meantime we are working at improving our current website. Review titled Disgraceful appointment system
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 05 February 2025
The practice's appointment system is frankly hostile to patients. I wanted to contact the practice a few days ago, on advice from a pharmacy. I looked online, thinking that would be the easiest method and read on the practice website 'We will endeavour to be open initially from 8 am until 9 am, Monday to Thursday.' as their procedure for online contact. It was a Thursday afternoon and the online contact system was indeed closed when I checked. I wanted to get the ball rolling before Monday morning (I was unsure about the seriousness of my medical issue) when the online system would presumably be working again so I phoned. The person I spoke to had little to offer. The choices was given were essential phone the next morning when there might be an urgent appointment available or contact NHS 111. I didn't think I needed an urgent appointment but to make it very hard to leave some sort of message that would get replied to is in due course is just nonsense. This, unfortunately, is not my first such experience of this sort here. It's not just patients who are put in a difficult position by procedures like this but also the phone and front of house staff who have to deal with patients who are understandably upset when coping with a system that s designed to make their cases difficult. Surely you can do better?

We were sorry to read that the service we provided did not meet your expectations. Unfortunately demand for services in the NHS is far greater than the funding allows us to provide. However, we do endeavour to provide both routine and urgent care and constantly review our capacity. We will use your comments to help provide a patients' perspective on our services and reflect on your comments. Unfortunately we are unable to respond directly as your comments are anonymous, however please do contact the surgery via our admin online service or ring and speak to a Manager if you would like to discuss this further.

Review titled Whi h number must be called
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Janet - Posted on 29 May 2024
I keep calling the number online to book for a test. Its very frustrating when the instruction from a letter from NHS says call your GP surgery to book and you call the number, The only feedback get from them is we are currently facing technical issues and its been that since only God knows, the day the call goes through it will ring for several minuts and there will be noo answer till u cut the call. Its very disturbing and this facility should really work on it. I love their service but when it comes to means of communicating with them it's a big zero. Thanks ,my humble worry and will be very glad if it can be worked on because am sure someone is also facing same challenge out there.

Dear Janet We can only apologies. Having recently introduced a new cloud based telephone system in March which has greatly improved the experience for patients contacting us ( for example we are now able to offer call back as an option), we have unfortunately experienced a outage with the fibre optic lines not working. We have like you frustratingly waited for this to be fixed all day and it is still not working. We understand how difficult this can be . You can still contact us for any none urgent requests via our website by sending in a request on our online request service or by visiting the practice. We will hopefully be working again tomorrow but if not please do bear with us. Any emergency should as always go via 999 or by calling 111. Sincerely Practice Manager

I went into town to look at my husband's arm as he had badly cut it.and her advice was to come to doctors. But the receptionist was very off and said there was no nurses in on a Friday afternoon. What a joke. All we needed was a dressing put on. We were told to go to another .no wonder other places are overwhelming are so over run.the receptionist need to have more compassion. But I will do the best I can not being a trained nurse and hope he has no infection and that he is okay at 91years old.

Dear Patient I am sorry to hear you are experiencing problems. We offer a routine service for dressings mainly booked ahead any urgent need would be directed to a minor injury or in the case of Yeovil the A&E Department. I'm not sure who advised you to come to the Doctors surgery for a cut? Our Patient Services Team would listen and try to help and offer signposting to the correct service as they did but i am sorry this didn't seem supportive. If possible we would try to see someone however a nurse has to be available to assess and provide a dressing, we have other staff in but schedule dressings Monday to Thursday in our dressing clinics. I am very happy to chat to you further if it helps, unfortunately as the review is anonymous you would need to contact me.

Review titled I could not have wished for better care
by JD77 - Posted on 24 September 2023
I contacted Preston Grove Medical Centre, Yeovil, and spoke to a very kind receptionist who passed my message on. I was invited in to see the urgent care team that same afternoon. The doctor phoned me the following day and organised to an urgent ultrasound and gave me dietary advice. I had an ultrasound scan where gallstones were found. That week my GP phoned me to see how I was. I saw a consultant at Yeovil District Hospital. I followed the dietary advice and had no more attacks. A Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy was carried out on me at Yeovil District Hospital. All the nurses, doctors and consultants were amazing. Their attitude and kindness, let alone their skill, made the whole experience much less traumatic and a very positive one. I could not have wished for better care and the time scale was very acceptable (Just over five months from start to finish) I also found the Day Surgery Clinic to be spotlessly clean. I wanted to send this feedback as there is such bad press around the NHS and I really do feel that everyone involved in my story needed a shout out because they really are unsung heroes. Many thanks for letting me tell this story.
