  1. Review titled Rude Staff and Dangerous Mistakes

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Emma - Posted on 31 July 2024

I tried get an appointment but couldn’t get through on the phone. I then went online and there were no appointments left for the day - not unusual for this practice but I considered myself relatively urgent and followed all of the correct procedures. What followed was horrible and unacceptable. I completed the nhs111 online forms and was told to go back to my gp as they had a “duty of care” given the nature of my symptoms and time of day. After calling and waiting on hold I got through to the reception to an incredibly rude staff member. I told them my concerns to be told I need to contact them between 8-11am and that I didn’t try get though because there was slots available up until 11am. My reply was I didn’t need to ring you at 8am I need to ring you now I have tried to contact you and couldn’t get through. When the receptionist finally listened to me and I told her my concerns and reasons why I was phoning, she rudely took my details and told me she would speak to the manager . Not 10 mins later I got a call back from the surgery, they never checked it was me on the phone, only to be shouted down the phone…. “I spoke with the manager and they said go to a&e, bye “ they then hung up on me before I could even reply. I have been a patient of this practice 30 years and it’s getting worse and worse, this is not the first time I have had abuse from staff and other family members who attend the surgery have also experienced similar. The turnover of staff is constant, they regularly make administrate mistakes (such as incorrect blood forms, stool sample labelling, forgetting to complete referrals). And it is even more frustrating that you can’t speak to somebody in a polite and professional manner.

  2. Review titled Rude and dismissive

Rated 1 star out of 5

I phoned for an appointment - after waiting for 35 mins, the receptionist picked up. I told her I needed a face to face appointment, she then questioned why I was unable to use the online booking system. Without asking why I needed a face to face, she then said I would only get a telephone appointment. They couldn't tell me when the call would happen until later on in the day, meaning I was anxious and constantly checking my phone. This practice used to be good, but now - discourteous, unhelpful and avoidant.

  3. Review titled Terrible Practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

Went to this practice as had an infection in a wound, doctor phoned and didn’t seem at all friendly, she booked me in and said you’ll have to show me as I have no gloves but she wore a mask. What doctors has no gloves to examine patients. The receptionist is the rudest person I have known at a gp practice. When you go in she dosent even look at you is turning around on the chair and yawning. This practice has gone extremely down I would do what I could to find a new practice as this practice is terrible. Don’t bother ringing they never answer it.

  4. Review titled Rude and helpless receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

I’ve had an appointment with a medical professional today. Unfortunately, I was misinformed about the venue of this appointment by a receptionist. I tried to call the reception and nobody answered the call. I was ninth in the queue while waiting for the call to be answered. When I arrived at the Princess road surgery I was still ninth. The receptionist was behind the desk. I explained the situation I found myself in but the receptionist was not supportive. Instead she said that I was late for this appointment and I could not be seen. I explained to her that it was not my fault but the receptionist’s who misinformed me. The receptionist behind the desk was very rude, unhelpful and confrontational. She caused me a lot of stress and anxiety. I’ve had interactions with this receptionist several times and she always comes across as a very unpleasant, unhelpful and unprofessional person. Her personality is not adequate for the position she holds and her interactions with patients are lacking skills that are needed for this job. She repeatedly spoke over me and told me “ok” in a dismissive, passive aggressive way as to tell me to shut up. She never apologised or offered a solution, only telling me that it’s my fault I’m late for this appointment. It’s not too much to ask of a receptionist to be helpful, and not give attitude. This needs to be addressed in this surgery. The service is appalling.

  5. Review titled "It isn't something we do"

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Peter Lythgoe - Posted on 18 January 2023

I am a 64 year old man who has kept himself fit enough so far to enter this year's Paris Marathon. This requires a simple certificate signed by my doctor that says an examination reveals "no contraindications for participating in running competitions." The certification was dismissed out of hand because "It isn't something we do." (My last entry for Paris was certified by my previous GP with no problem whatsoever). When I asked to speak to somebody I was informed that the decision had been made by the practice head, as if that is an acceptable reason for the practice taking no further interest. Clearly this practice has no commitment to encouraging the maintenance of good all-round health and physical fitness into old age.
