Review titled Need improving
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Maggie - Posted on 04 October 2024
Can never get through to the surgery, been on the phone this morning about 6 times and it says that iam 8 in the queue and they will call me back when iam at the front and that was at 8.05 am and it's now 10.15 am. I can never get a appointment, they send me a text telling me to make a appointment and when I call they say that there's no appointments in for the coming weeks . Absolutely disgraceful.

Review titled Poor care and service
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 16 October 2024
I had an assessment in August, which was quick and timely—thank you for that. Following the assessment, I had a blood test and was referred for an endoscopy under the 2 weeks wait pathway. My blood test showed some abnormalities, and I received a text message instructing me to book a telephone appointment to discuss the results. Since then, I have been trying to secure an appointment but have been unsuccessful despite numerous attempts. After my endoscopy, the hospital prescribed me medication for a four-week course, but only two weeks were provided initially. I tried to request the remaining two weeks of medication via the Dr. Iq app on two occasions (both requests were rejected). I was advised to send the discharge letter from the hospital to an email address, but the address provided was incorrect. I later found the correct email on the surgery’s web and sent the letter with urgency, but I have not received a response from the team. Fortunately, I discovered that the medication could be purchased over the counter, and I was able to obtain it from my local pharmacy. However, I am still unable to secure an appointment, which has been a frustrating experience. I find this level of service to be disappointing and unacceptable. While the initial assessment was prompt, the difficulty in obtaining follow-up care and prescriptions has been a significant issue.

Review titled Best I've found
by Will - Posted on 28 August 2024
Not normally one to review things but this place is great. When I first signed up I had to see a GP 2-4 times a month and they were the best and most helpful doctor I've ever had. She sadly moved practices so since then I've seen various doctors including locums and they have all been really good. Much better than anywhere else I've been registered. They haven't been able to cure all my issues but they aren't the kind of health issues with quick easy solutions. All the GPs I've seen have been patient, often allowing extended appointments, they have been accomodating of my needs and made sure to follow up. At one point I had some problems with reception/admin/accessibility issues: the person on the desk was very apologetic and took the time to discuss options and made sure the problem never happens again. I understand the app isn't for everyone but I love being able to organise appointments and get prescriptions without having to call or pop in. And I like that touch screen check in thats easy and means there's rarely a long wait when it is necessary to talk to reception. Sometimes things can be frustrating and there are some long waits occasionally but I feel that these are wider NHS issues. Compared to other practices I've been to this place is amazing. No 3 hours on hold 4 mornigs in a row just to speak to someone. No 20 people queues out the door for reception. The staff are obviously working hard at very stressful jobs but haven't lost their empathy and compassion which is not the case everywhere. So yeah, they aren't miracle workers, they haven't cured me but they have made dealing with serious health issues as easy as possible and I'm grateful. In a previous area I never went to the GP because it was such a slow, stressful and sometimes degrading and demoralising experience that it was better to struggle through or go to A&E but queens road surgery have been great every time I've dealt with them. Not saying others are wrong, their experiences are valid and worth reading more reviews but I thought it worthwhile to put a positive one on here because this place has been the best doctors surgery I've dealt with and despite all the problems with the NHS they at least try hard to make it as quick, easy and caring as possible.

Review titled Indeed Poor

After reading on here you can request appointments booked in advance at any time of the day and no need to call at 8am according to the Practice Manager, I phoned the surgery today to do just that and was told I couldn't make any appointments in advance until after 2nd August and to phone at 8am in the morning. Go figure.

They did not do their due diligence. They were Unprofessional and had no compassion for me. Most employers were rude and had no time for me.

Review titled Seriously lacking in patient care
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 12 April 2024
Disorganised and lacking in patient care. I remember when a GP surgery would call you after a test to give you your results, talk your through them and then provide next steps from the doctor. For years now at Queens Road it is impossible to get through the door. I was told to book myself in for several tests (and I wasn't even sure what they were for) so that the nurse practitioner could either refer me or provide a course of treatment. In order to find out this treatment based on my results I had to eventually call after having no contact from the surgery and have now been told to go through the laborious process of trying to call or get through on the app to find out what my course of treatment is. The level of aftercare and patient upkeep ultimately makes me want to stop trying altogether. If the health professionals don't care, why should I?

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback, and please accept my apologies for your experience. We always ensure that patients are contacted if their results require them to speak to a GP. If that has not happened on the occasion you have outlined above, I would be grateful for more detail. You can email us at souccg.qrs@nhs,net with your name and some details and I will ensure to contact you. Kind Regards, Dean Nagle Practice Manager

Review titled Wow, shocking practice!
Rated 1 star out of 5

I had a nasty infection earlier this year and could barely speak and feeling rotten. The receptionist did not even look away from computer screen when I checked in and the Dr just as dismissive leaving me feeling de-humanized when I left. Also, I went to A&E over a month ago regarding a chronic health condition and the nurse said that I need a plan to help me manage it better and she also said she wants the GP to test my kidneys in two weeks time by blood test because she was concerned after the result of my blood test there and she said she will put all this information in the letter to my DR...but I have not been contacted by anyone at all and they must have received the letter by now, so what have they done with it because they have not contacted me? I think this is a disgrace.

Review titled Very Poor, Uncaring, No Empathy
Rated 1 star out of 5

This practice needs to be shut down, it's the worst I've ever been to and how it's still open....I do not know. My experiences are always frustrating and made to feel like I'm not worth their time. Dr's just seem to go through the mechanics of being a Dr but show no care to you as a patient. I'v had enough. I phoned at 8am to try to get an appointment, waited half an hour for phone to be answered only to be told I had to come in that day and couldn't book in advance I couldn't make it the same day and then told to call again at 8am next day....seriously what kind of service is this? Don't care about us.

Dear Patient, Thank you for providing us with this feedback. We understand that scheduling appointments can sometimes be challenging. That's why, in addition to our mainly same-day appointments in the morning, we offer the convenience of booking with our extended-access clinic for the next day. This option is especially beneficial if you find it difficult to attend on the day you are calling. I would also like to highlight that the advanced booked appointments can be requested at any time of the day with no need to call at 8 am. Kind regards, Dean Nagle Practice Manager

Review titled Only same day emergency appointments available
Rated 1 star out of 5

This surgery doesn't offer appointments booked in advance, therefore you have to call at 8am and play the appointment lottery: when I have tried this I haven't been able to get through and am currently unable to access health care. This has meant that I have to take mornings off work in order to try to get an appointment. I believe this is an extremely damaging policy, which will disproportionately impact upon working class and minority patients, ie. those unable to call at 8am because of shift work and other precarious labour conditions.

Dear Patient, Thank you very much for your feedback. While we understand that patients are not always able to call at 8 am due to several circumstances we do offer appointments that can be booked in advance. These appointments are subject to availability but can be booked at any time of the day meaning there is no need to hold on the phones at 8 am. Alternatively, we also offer the Dr iQ app that patients can use to book online consultations which opens at 7 am. Kind regards, Dean Nagle Practice Manager
