I required a non urgent appointment with a certain GP and was given one within the next couple of days . This was much sooner than I expected.

Dear patient Thank you for your review. I am pleased you managed to navigate our appointment system and obtain a suitable appointment in a quick timescale. The NHS including primary care is currently facing a big increase in demand due to high levels of infectious diseases circulating. It’s not too late for patients who are eligible for COVID and flu vaccines to get them. In primary care we have a responsibility to continue to provide access for patients with non urgent but important problems requiring medical attention. The best way our patients can help us maintain this access is to make sure they get any immunisations they are eligible for. Regards, Dr A van den Bos. GP partner

  2. Review titled COVID/flu vaccination

I was contacted by the surgery/ NHS app to book my COVID app which I did I also booked my flu jab for next day. I found the process easy. When I went for first appointment I was directed to correct area and was seen within 10 mins. The nurse said I could also have my flu jab which I did saving me a second trip. They also cancelled the original appointment for me. The injections were given in a professional manner and I had no bruising. Excellent service.

Dear patient Thank you for submitting a very positive review about your recent experience getting immunised against COVID and flu. We hope that other patients will see this and be encouraged to come and get their own immunisations done. There is no doubt that these immunisations continue to save lives especially for our older patients and those with health problems which make them more vulnerable. I will definitely be getting mine as soon as this is offered! Regards, Dr A van den Bos. GP partner

  3. Review titled Absolute disgrace not fit for purpose

Rated 1 star out of 5

I used the econsult service regarding a painful ear infection. they booked me into local pharmacy later that day for me to get to the pharmacy and they don’t treat over 17s which Railway Medical Group are aware of so was a total waste of time other than them confirming I have ear infection in both ears. the pharmacy contacted Railway medical group and surprise, surprise no appointments so I’ve had to come to hospital walk in centre feeling very very ill. I never use the GP surgery because can never get an appointment but when I have really needed them they have massively disappointed

Dear patient Thank you for your feedback. I am extremely sorry that you had a bad experience when trying to obtain treatment for an ear infection. The pharmacy referral scheme and pharmacy first scheme can work well where used appropriately by allowing patients to access treatment directly from a community pharmacist for minor illnesses. This helps GPs to maintain access for patients with complex health needs who cannot be dealt with elsewhere within the NHS service. As you rightly say the NHS Pharmacy First Scheme currently allows community pharmacists to give antibiotic treatment for middle ear infections where needed only for patients aged between 1 and 17. As such patients over 18 or under 1 contacting us with symptoms of an ear infection are not appropriate patients to be referred to the community pharmacist and we would best meet their needs by fitting them in to a suitable face to face appointment with a GP, ANP or paramedic practitioner in order to be assessed and treated if necessary. I am sorry that this did not occur in your case. I have highlighted to all our staff involved in care navigation about the age restrictions with the pharmacy first scheme for treating middle ear infections and will ensure that out care navigation toolkit is providing the appropriate guidance for care navigation staff. As an organisation we welcome complaints from patients who have had a bad experience of care in order that we can quickly learn lessons and put things right. Many thanks for bringing this experience to our attention. Regards, Dr A van den Bos, GP Partner

  4. Review titled Completely upsetting

Been with this surgery most of my life and not had any issues went yesterday for an appointment as I have multiple ailments. I was in severe pain due to arthritis the Dr just took a quick glance at my joint told me it's not swollen and I should call the rheumatologist to make an appointment! Within a minute of entering her office she was printing out a sick note I didn't want that I wanted some relief from my pain I left feeling helpless and alone totally lost my trust in NHS the receptionists are lovely but unfortunately the Dr's are not.

Dear Nicol Thank you for your feedback. I'm really sorry you came away from your GP consultation feeling that you're concerns had not been dealt with. We aren't able to identify specific patients when they leave reviews so I have not had opportunity to look at your consultation record or to speak to the GP involved. You may wish to consider whether you want to make a formal complaint to the practice about your experience. You're welcome to contact the surgery and we can provide details of the best way for you to submit a complaint. Investigating and responding to complaints forms an important part of how as a practice we can improve the quality of care and the experience of care for our patients. NHS patients are also quite within their rights to request a second opinion where they are unhappy with the outcome of a consultation. From a practical point of view we cannot offer immediate second opinions as GP clinics are always booked to capacity. However we would endeavour to book a patient in with a health professional of an equivalent or senior position to whoever you were seen by initially within 1 to 2 working days.
